I ordered takeout and the sushi was straight up bussin so I definitely recommend. My favorite was probably the Bradenton roll but everything else was pretty awesome too! I was one of the first takeout customers of the restaurant, so there was a bit of confusion about some of the items on the menu but they quickly figured it out and were very friendly. I didn't sit in so not entirely sure what the ambience was like but from what I saw it looked like a classic sushi place with an overall very peaceful vibe. My 1st visit a month ago with a party of 12 wasn't the greatest experience service wise. The food is amazing. Last night went again with a party of 11. Ironically we had the same waiter. We came to Sushi Kami tonight to celebrate 2 birthdays. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the service. Our server was not very attentive and failed to mention the auto gratuity for a large party. We all ordered hibachi dishes and they brought out the soup, salad and main entrees at the same time! We couldn't enjoy the soup and salad first. Our table was crowded from all of the dishes. There are so many good Asian restaurants in Lakewood Ranch that we will not be returning. Our server was working so hard and was super kind, and they were clearly understaffed for servers. I think the environment is cute, and it makes up for the low/mid grade sushi. You're paying more for the atmosphere. Desserts weren't that great, lo mein was very greasy. It's not the worst sushi place. but I don't have a desire to return. read more

So excited to have this place finally open! Super dangerous for us since we live 10 min away. Our server, ISI, was very attentive and funny to chat with. On a Monday night, we got there at 6:30pm. Was told that there was an hour long wait so we put in our name and number in the waiting list and went back to our car to wait. At 7:50 we asked how far we were in the waiting list and they looked through their list and looked confused. Then they said they tried calling us twice even though I never got a call and there's a 10 minute grace period. I told them we've been waiting since 6:30pm and they said that we would have to be put back on the waiting list. So we decided to go back on the waiting list and so our hostess read out my phone number back to us and the reason why we've been waiting for so long was because she INCORRECTLY put in my phone number the first time. They didn't seem to want to sit us in our table or even apologize after I even though I told them how long we've been waiting for. read more

I have been here 4 times total and by the last time this place is FIRED. The server was inattentive, passive aggressive, rude, and hostile. She had to be reminded to bring bar drinks, soy sauce containers, and wasabi. She would whisper under her breath, not respond to thank you, and slammed the wasabi on the table while walking past and never made eye contact. She made eye contact only to ask the female customer if it was more than one check, and had to be asked to take payment after 10 minutes. This is the first time our party has ever not given a tip, and the last time we were at this restaurant the server (very polite) got a $20 tip. The food quality has gone down a lot. The portions are smaller, the sushi tasted very old and was unpleasant to eat, and the fried cheesecake was half cold. The ambiance is okay but overcrowded and we have witnessed rude guests in the past. We've previously seen a drunk woman approach another customer and comment on how much he was eating. There are other superior sushi restaurants here in Lakewood Ranch that have wonderful service, food quality, better deals, and are in the same price point. read more

I thought I would try this new restaurant to check out their hibachi. I ordered the steak and asked for medium rare as I do in all hibachi restaurants with no issue. In fact all ask how I would like it done. I was told they couldn't guarantee that. Well that didn't start well. And of course, it was totally inedible. Hard as a rock meat, poor meat choice as well. And since when do you have to ask for yummy sauce? A staple in all hibachis. The waitress was apologetic and only charged me for the vegetables and rice. But this was not her fault. This is the restaurant's fault. No respectable hibachi chef would serve this mess. I will not be back of course. read more

We enjoyed the food and the server. What got us was the hostess. We originally walked in with a quote of a 30 minute wait, agreed and put us on the waiting list. During this time Verizon towers were down so she didn't take our phone number to text/call when our table was ready. So we chose to stand against the wall by the bar and wait. We watched party after party come in and be placed on the waiting list. Then we also proceeded to watch two (also two top) parties get sat that came into the restaurant after us (and placed on the waiting list after us). When I went to check on where we were at on the list and mentioned of these parties being sat we received a not so nice response from the hostess and then she proceeded to tell the other hostess to just "seat us wherever, she didn't care". read more

The food and service is great. The only thing I don't like is that I was told an hour and 15 minutes wait and I was refused to go to wait at the bar, they said it was also an hour wait. How do you refuse a customer to have a drink while waiting for a table?? There was only 1 person at the bar, it never filled up, not sure I'd go back for that reason alone. I had lunch here today with a friend. We loved the food. We had a bit of a glitch with the order, but the owner was very helpful in getting things right and gave us both dessert, which was delicious as well. Ashley, our server was so helpful. Both my friend and I will return, and I'll be bringing my husband as well. Although we didn't order the all you can eat menu, it seems like a very good deal, especially since the quality of food and service is high. The atmosphere is very pleasing as well. The ramen was not bad but you could tell it sat before it came to the table bc the noodles were stuck together in a ball but the flavor was ok. The fried rice was good. She was friendly, attentive, and really knew the menu--great recommendations and perfect timing without ever feeling rushed.
