I was thoroughly impressed by this Sushi King. It's a huge facility, far bigger than the Sushi Kings in the Richmond area or the one in Charlottesville, and located right in the heart of downtown Hampton. The menu had several options not usually found in other Sushi Kings, including Chicken Katsu, BBQ Squid, several rarer fishes for the sushi, and others that I enjoyed greatly. Despite being a large restaurant it was impeccably clean and the service was efficient, individualized, and friendly. The fish was fresh-tasting and in good portions. The only negative was the beer was quite expensive - normally I'm used to Sushi King having beers for just a few bucks but this location charged bar-level prices. The meal prices were in-line with other Sushi Kings even with all the bells and whistles this place has in addition. It was undoubtedly the best Sushi King I've been to so far although I can't, as of this review, say much about the other Sushi Kings in the Virginia Beach area and only can compare it to the ones in the Richmond area and in Charlottesville (which themselves are quite good already). read more

This was my first time eating at Sushi King. I tried the Las Vegas Roll and the chicken teriyaki with fried rice. So delicious!! I am not a big fan of Sushi but this was Awesome!! I dipped mine teriyaki sauce and I loved it. My friends got so many different rolls they all looked delicious. The service was great. Not a great experience at all. When you first walk in, you'd expect to receive a nice greeting, right? Not at this place. The lady at the front desk look even look annoyed that we came in. Staffing isn't necessarily the friendliest. After ordering our food, some of them came on plates that were chipped. I'm not saying I can't have scratches or anything on plates I use, I just found it unprofessional for them to use it to serve food on, especially if it can easily chip again and possibly get on our food. I ordered noodles for my son but he can't use chopsticks so we asked to get a fork, and I kid you not, they didn't come back with a fork, so we asked again when someone came to check on us and it took about another 10-15 more min for them to get us a fork! One thing I didn't really like is how we had about 4 different people serve us our food. It was hard to communicate what we needed because we had different people assigned to our table. The food - was NOT the best. I don't remember the last time I went to a sushi king, but I can guarantee that i don't remember it tasting bad. Their spicy California roll for some reason tasted super watery. The only thing I actually somewhat liked was their shrimp tempura roll. Other than that, every piece of sushi, on both my husband and I's plate, kept breaking. We get sushi often, and know how to use chopsticks so I know it wasn't our lack of skill, lol. Service here kinda sucks. Our waitress said she wanted to serve water to the girls first but forgot to give any of the guys in our group water. She also messed up our checks and gave me my friend's more expensive check. When I complained about it she told me to get my friend to just send me the difference. Extremely unprofessional. Not the greatest sushi but it's a pretty good bang for your buck if you like asian food and have a big appetite. All you can eat sushi, hibachi, and appetizers for about $25 total (including tax and tip) isn't bad if you eat a lot. Sushi King has become our go to sushi quick fix location. You absolutely can not beat the price for lunch or dinner. The truth is that you'll pay just as much for all you can eat as you will pay for one sushi roll at another restaurant or at the carry out in Whole Foods. Plus you get a salad, miso soup, and your choice of hot food and hibachi selections. My boys love sushi and they go into sushi king with a plan and then go to work. The atmosphere and decor in this sushi king is on point. The place looks clean and they actually have a decent music playlist on most of the time when we are there. Now there sushi roll selection gets better during dinner. The price is about $6 more per person, but you get you money's worth. I feel like once you've been to one Suhi King, you've pretty much been to all of them honestly. It's not the best sushi but it is good enough of you're in the area and you're having a craving. I do love the location of this sushi king. It's right in the center on PTC which is perfect if you want to just take a stroll and or shop afterwards or before you eat. It's convenient, affordable for the average consumer and let's just face it, it's pretty good. If you've never had sushi before, this will be the perfect spot. They offer raw, cooked, & fried sushi. The sauce tasted like the Stuff in the bottle from A grocery store and it was in a small to go container, like you get soy sauce in for a side. Only one. The rice portion was so small. So when we mixed it together there wasn't enough sauce to cover the chicken. It didn't even fill the small to good container. The to go order and sit down inside the restaurant portions are drastically different as for the roll size. Will not ever go back. Total Rip off.
