Sushi Sashimi Lunch Combo was very good. Everything tasted extremely fresh and was very satisfying. Portions and pricing are perfect for lunch. It came with 6 pieces of assorted sushi: salmon, tuna, white fish, hamachi, octopus, and shrimp, 7 pieces of sashimi: 3 tuna, 2 salmon and 2 hamachi, and 8 pieces of salmon avocado roll. It was very light, but filling at the same time. The interior is a little outdated, could definitely use a renovation. Parking during lunch hours can be a little tricky. The restaurant is pretty small. The staff is friendly and there is a welcoming atmosphere. So I went here to try their ramen soup since it was recommended to me by a friend. I had the pork ramen soup which had bamboo shoots, green onions and an egg, with no fishcake. I wish they would put a little more veggies. It was pretty good. It tasted home made and the broth had a creamy look to it. I enjoyed it, especially since I went on a chilly night in South Florida... I also tried the chicken katsu, which was very crisp and tasty. Also a very good dish. I had their beef teriyaki which I was not a fan of. The beef was a little tough and the teriyaki sauce was very, very salty. The screaming orgasm roll is tops with its own special sauce, but if you ask what kind it is, you'll most likely just hear "screaming orgasm sauce". I personally enjoy coming here and the food/sushi is nothing but amazing! I am rating this a 1 star because this place has been around for 27 years and has never been in the current state as it is now ever since new owner/management took over. Food, atmosphere, the people, again - the people (chefs, servers) have always been special! I can speak volumes of them! But now, slowly, individuals that have built this incredible restaurant over the years are slowly starting to leave because of the lack of leadership and commitment! When new management took over, the regulars - which are many, kept saying do not change anything, keep your chefs, keep the people and as stated above, the people who have made this restaurant what it is are starting to leave. I have been dinning here for years. I am very disappointed to say that the service has changed. The service was horrible. We sat for 5 minutes and the only person that acknowledged us was the host. 2 tables were served before us that arrived after us. We left and no one even noticed. Ummmmmmm, so I was in that I really want to eat sushi mood and Sushi Ko is near my house and we typically go to Sushi Saki which we love. However, I can for the first time I was let down by my fellow yelpers. The food was OK, The sushi was mediocre and didn't really have much flavor and was falling apart. I've been coming to Sushi Ko for over 20 years and sometimes I just crave it! I was craving it today. I have to say the food was ok. And the service was ok. However, the floor is kinda sticky. You hear the servers walking. It was not appealing at all. I almost got grossed out. Something really needs to be done with the floors. It seems like it's dirty. A couple weeks ago some friends brought me takeout from here and I thought it was really good. I decided that before I could review it, I needed to go and get the full experience. I loved, loved, LOVED everything. While definitely not the trendiest sushi place out there, their food more than makes up for it. Everything we had was beyond fresh and tasty! We had the tuna tataki to start which melted in my mouth. It was probably some of the freshest tuna I've ever had. SOOOO GOOD!!! For rolls, we had a couple dragon rolls and the double-d roll which is a california with dynamite on top. They were fantastic, and again SUPER fresh. And to top off the meal- the ice cream tempura was fantastic. Theirs definitely gives Matsuri's a run for its money!! The service was good- the waiters were nice and made sure you had everything you needed. The ambiance is laid back- not fancy- but it's not a dump either.. The entire experience was more than worthy of 5 stars. It is definitely my new go-to sushi place!! read more

How often can you have a Screaming Orgasm, 69, and a 3-some (Roll) all in one night? Apparently, all the time if you come to Sushi Ko. No wonder I lost my sushi virginity here more than 15 years ago. You might be thinking Chef Yuki's got a dirty mind, but his sushi creations are out of this world. Any specialty roll is always fresh both on the fish and sauce side. If you like ginger dressing, you have to try Sushi Ko's salad. I rarely recommend salad, but it's just that good. There is no comparison. The lunch specials are plentiful and you actually leave completely happy without having to order roll after roll or spending a fortune. It's never empty and you'll always find Chef Yuki somewhere in the restaurant. Knowing that the owner is there usually guarantees satisfaction. Don't stop at rolls and treat yourself to the tempura ice cream. It's the just the right amount of ingredients- fried ice cream and pound cake. It isn't fancy, but it's probably what your looking for if you like sushi. After 15 years of patronage, Sushi Ko has never disappointed me. read more

I started off enjoying a great 69 followed by the mother of all Screaming Orgasms and i still wanted to keep going. I'm talking about the names of the sushi rolls, of course. Those two dishes are probably some of the best sushi platters i have ever had, and that's saying a lot for a meat & potatoes kind of guy like me. I ordered the Sushi and Sashimi platter with my boyfriend and we loved everything on it. From the salmon and white fish sashimi, to the California and spicy tuna rolls, we pretty much licked the plate clean. Each plate came with a choice of ginger salad or soup, both were crowd-pleasers. Our plate was delicious and all, but when i tried my friend's 69 and Screaming Orgasm dishes, I regretted not ordering them instead. Oh my God, were they tasty! Okay so I've been a sushi lover most of my life. Here in South Florida I have a few spots that I absolutely love. Some more than others, based on location, ambiance and specialty rolls. I would have to say my top choices would be Doraku, Nobu, Shibui and Hillstone. My next tier for that quick fix would be Sushi Siam, Akashi, Sushi Maki and for years Sushi Ko. As of today I will remove Sushi Ko from that list. During the last few years I've seen the decline in the location, and it's service. But one tends to be a bit forgiving when you have pretty inexpensive and fresh sushi. I have been by about four times in the last few months and I noticed horrible service I couldn't turn a blind eye to and then my experience today. All was going "ok" with my dining experience although the place settings never came on time, I had to ask for my tea twice and the extra napkins requested came back as "one" napkin. I was nice and overlooked the "look of death" I was given by the new manager when I asked if they could keep my beef teriyaki warm. After all I was overloaded. They brought the soup, salad and tea all at once. I had no room for the main plate in front of me. But when my Beef teriyaki came (which I was excited for) as its always been a personal favorite there due to a light sauce. My meat was so chewy in the first two bites that I took a look and was about to request a fork and knife. I couldn't get through five bites without having to set aside the chunks on my plate. You know you're on trouble when you debate the mouth to napkin strategy when chewing on a bite of food. It was that bad! The entire steak on my plate (sliced) was all fat! I was disappointed and set the plate aside. When the young lady who I suppose is a hostess and sever came by to ask if we were ready for the bill came over, I told her politely that my steak which typically is great, was compete fat. I told her I simply couldn't eat it and that both my lunch guests today tried it and felt the same. Next I know the evil-eyed manager came over and I again explained politely. She looked at me rudely, said nothing and walked away. I saw her show my plate to the lady at the cash register as if dissecting my food. At plain view the steak was all fat! A moment later the hostess came over with our bill and guess what? That horrible beef teriyaki was on there! No I'm sorry, no can we get you something else. We called her over and mentioned it was on the bill and she told us:" the woman who came over is supposed to handle issues like this. I'm sorry. She didn't feel there was a problem with your plate." I told her how all three of us had been going there for years and how disappointed I was that there was no sense of customer service. I told her we wouldn't be returning and she simply said "sorry." I strongly recommend avoiding this spot at all cost. Head over to somewhere else if you want to be appreciated as a patron. Obviously quality is now also a huge issue for Sushi Ko. You shrunk your rolls??? How could you??? We picked up lunch at Sushi Ko today, like we usually do. Innocently enough I trusted them to fill my tummy with a "69" and a "pinky." I grunted when I saw they were charging me $.50 for to-go containers and a whopping $.50 cents for a SMALL side of spicy mayo. Ugh, fine whatever. All this, plus a water came out to $31.09. When we take out our chopsticks and dig into our food we discover that the mountain of crisp shields a tiny TINY 1/2-inch tall piece of sushi, inside it, a tiny tiny shrimp and skinny little asparagus. We were flabbergasted. As a long time customer of Sushi Ko I really do NOT appreciate this. To top it all off, each bit of wasabi and ginger had their own damn tiny container. No wonder they are charging me $0.50 if they are wasting their money on separate containers for stupid things like this. I am filing for divorce Sushi ko. I will not be fooled any longer. read more

We stopped ordering from the menu about 5 years ago because when we go during the week (when they are less busy), Ray, our favorite Sushi Chef gets the chance to flex his creative muscles to come up with the most amazing dishes. There are times other customers want to order what we're eating and it is often a sudden inspiration by Ray. Sushi Ko is among my top five sushi restaurants in Miami. Their strength is in their fresh fish. I ordered two pieces of white tuna and it completely melted in my mouth. Off to a great start. If you come here often enough, you'll definitely know what you want ahead of time. Their sushi rolls are named in such a manner that you'll commit it to memory unwillingly (Screaming Orgasm roll, V-Agra roll). What really gets me is the roll that comes with "orgasm sauce". Nice? Sounds kind of messy to me. Their staff is very friendly and attentive. I recommend you sit at the bar and let the guys make up some meals for you on the spot. The fact that the filling was shredded artificial crab rather than the typical cream cheese crab mixture was a nice surprise. Thee miso soup was literally heaven on earth, and the sushi was the best I've ever eaten. If there was an option for 6 stars, I would choose it.
