The food overall was okay. The lobster tacos were really small and I didn't really taste the lobster at all. I was mostly eating avocado. The veggie dumplings were okay, wouldn't get them again. The Chilean Sea Bass was too fishy for my taste. The spicy tuna crispy rice wasn't that good, it just tasted average. I did enjoy the snapper with sea salt and salmon with sautéed tomato.

Sushi Mikasa blew my mind &(yes my wallet too). I discovered this place through my Twitter where some high level people travel to what was once long ago my hood. I remember this spot being a dive bar with working ladies many moons ago. I went for lunch yesterday- total for food- $46.82 Miso soup Green salad Spicy tuna over crispy rice Yellow tail Eel avocado Salmon/ sauteed tomato Japanese sea urchin Soup was unremarkable and tofu was mushy. Salad dressing- ginger/onion was outstanding. I am big on this stuff and it was one of the tops. The spicy tuna over rice was delectable so mildly spiced- happy just writing about it. The yellowtail was also delectable. Urchin was a tad funky for me otherwise, the sushi was a standout. There were three other groups of diners here. The place has smoked windows like many Russian spots around here and I am guessing that that is their customer base. On such a nice day it would have been nice to open the doors on this corner spot. The service was very knowledgable. Charging $1 for extra dressing is ingracious at this pricepoint. There is no value here foodwise, Chef Kevin has bucked a major restaurant trend where successful spots depend on the value they offer in this ecomomy. Yes this is outer Brooklyn, but Chef Kevin definitely has quite a following in these parts and far beyond... For food of this caliber you either have it and want to spend it or you don't.

Honestly used to be my favorite spot ever ! But this last 8 months there is no consistency! Sometimes the sushi is good other times is sucks and sloppy I'm super confused, management needs to step up and do something about it , you can't have one good roll and soggy crispy rice ! And charge the prices you do ! Quality should always be the same not change Day to day it's ridiculous! Even there spicy mayo is not the same it has a sour Taste !!!!! I used to spend $300 a week here but I sorry not anymore! It's a waste plenty of better places !

Amazing. Incredible. Out of this world. I was expecting good sushi from Mikasa, since I knew they got a chef from Sushi Seki in Manhattan, but we were really blown away. Some of the classic Gari or Seki pieces are taken to the next level here. The salmon with tomato, for example, had this char on it that was just phenomenal. The spicy scallop handroll is one of the best I've ever had. I love that my old neighborhood in Brooklyn now has a place of this caliber. Go for the omakase and put yourself in Chef Kevin's capable hands. They have a really nice private room downstairs. Also, it was night two that they're open and even the service was great. Impressive.

After reading some of the reviews here, I just wanted to clarify a few things. This is hands down the best sushi spot currently in Brooklyn (as of January 2014). With regards to price -- yes it's not cheap. But let's be real here, you pay for what you get. The fish is super fresh and I personally have no problem paying for quality. If you are looking for a 50 dollar dinner for two, this isn't the place. I'm not sure why people feel that Brooklyn can't charge these prices. Isn't quality that matters and not location? The portions are small but they are full of flavor. This isn't a place to come to and order the dragon roll as that's not what separates Mikasa from the other spots. Their sushi menu is what keeps the apart. We had their tomato salmon, toro, and yellow jalapeño sushi. All are highly recommended. They have amazing salads. My fiancé and I had the tuna and avocado salad as well as the snow pea salad. Both are highly recommended. Lastly, for desert we shared the Lady M cake. They have several flavors and you can't go wrong with this cake. If you have a craving for quality sushi and don't feel like traveling to the city, then this place is for you. I would recommend this to any of my friends. The price was beyond reasonable. Our entire dinner with tip and two bottles of wine came out to $230.

Sushi Mikasa is a slam dunk. Easily the best sushi in Brooklyn, if not one of the best I have ever had. I went with a friend, sat down right in front of Chef Dong "Kevin" Yong Chun and allowed him to take us on a culinary adventure through his talented vision and artistry. We started with magura avocado, spicy tuna crispy rice and the yellowtail jalapeno. All were original, fresh and left you begging for more. The texture of the crispy rice with the fresh spicy tuna topping was an explosion of flavor in my mouth. The thinly sliced yellowtail with razor thin jalapeno slices in a delicious sauce just melts in your mouth and gives off just the right amount of heat. I've never been a big fan of scallops, but the spicy scallop hand roll was a treat. No need for soy, the flavor is bursting out of this amazing roll. Chef Kevin continued to dazzle our pallets all night with a perfect seared salmon, monkfish liver saute, Tempura lobster, and much much more.. Everything we eat was absolutely delicious! This place gets busier, the later it gets, but if you really want to have a fine dining experience come before 8pm and have a seat at the bar. Let Chef Kevin take your meal in his hands. You will not be disappointed.

While wandering through Bed-Stuy on a weekday evening, my husband and I decided to try out this new…read moresushi spot. It wasn't terrible--but I had a lot of mixed feelings. Food: 3/5 I'm a huge sushi fan, so I was excited when I saw a deluxe sashimi set on the menu. Unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the mark. The scallop was thinly sliced and lacked the rich texture I was hoping for. The salmon and other cuts were decent, but short and oddly shaped--chunky yet small, which made the whole presentation feel a bit off for something labeled deluxe. We also tried to branch out and ordered the short rib entree. For $21, it was shockingly small--definitely a single-person portion, not sharable. I added extra ikura to a salmon donburi bowl for $2, but it was barely a teaspoon's worth--just enough to say it was there. Oddly, the salmon slices in that bowl were thinner than the sashimi we had just eaten, and overall, it left me still hungry even after sharing a maki roll. Lastly, my husband ordered a green salad, which somehow took the entire meal service to arrive. When it finally came, it was just plain romaine, cucumbers, radish, and dressing. For a dinner that clocked in at over $150 (after tip), we definitely left underwhelmed. Service: 3/5 This part wasn't bad, just confusing. We were seated quickly, but the pacing of the meal was strange. Our seaweed salad and soups came out promptly, but the green salad came last, after the hot dishes and nearly after my husband finished eating. Also, a small thing--but when I'm paying $16 for four oysters, I want to know what kind they are. The menu just said "West Coast oysters," but our server couldn't tell us the variety or origin. Not a huge deal, but it added to a general lack of polish that didn't quite match the pricing. I don't think I'd return. For the price, there are better sushi options in Brooklyn with higher quality, better portions, and clearer service. Still, I appreciate new spots opening up in the neighborhood, and I'm always happy to try something new. Hopefully they refine the menu and service with time.

We started with the salmon belly carpaccio which I'd say isn't really a carpaccio because the salmon isn't sliced as thinly as you'd expect. But! I mention that just to set expectations. Nomenclature aside, it's an excellent appetizer. Served in a truffle and ponzu sauce, the salmon is lightly seared which yields two different textures to the fish. It practically melts in your mouth. Highly recommend this dish. For my entree I went with the trio don, which is 6 pieces of sashimi served over your choice of plain or sushi rice (sushi rice for me). The fish was fresh and flavorful. The portion was perfect for me. My boyfriend ordered a yellowtail roll and enjoyed that as well. We also shared a carafe of the cold house sake. I'd definitely come back and try more items on the menu. It's great for sharing and trying new dishes. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the prices were very reasonable.

Lots of people came in and out for takeout orders so that seems to be more of the target audience. Service was quick and polite, we were there until 9:30 and they definitely seemed ready for us to be out of there before the 10PM closing time. As for the specialty rolls, there were some pretty creative options - don't shy away from seemingly odd combinations because the flavors really do work well together. I appreciated the rice:fish ratio on all the rolls, the rice was a thin layer letting the flavor of the other ingredients really come through. The plain spicy tuna roll on the other hand was filled with spicy tuna mixed with something crunchy - maybe puffed rice? It seemed to be an unnecessary filler, I would have preferred just fish. I enjoyed the Lovers Dream and Golden Sunset roll the most. While I was debating it while ordering, in hindsight I would definitely get two rolls per person, maybe more if you're really hungry.
