We came back to Sushi Note to celebrate our first anniversary because this is where we had our first date. It was really special to come back a year later. When my Bf made the reservation, he mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary. They welcomed us with a sweet handwritten card waiting on our table, which was a really nice touch. We ordered a few different sushi rolls, and just like the first time, everything was fresh and delicious. We also tried the plum sake and the regular sake, and both were great. The only small issue was that we were accidentally charged for a bottle of plum sake instead of one glass. They fixed it right away, but I hope they'll be a little more careful with the bill next time. One of my favorite things about Sushi Note is the atmosphere. It's a small restaurant, but it feels cozy and has its own charm. The music, the food, and the service always leave us with a great feeling.

Didn't get full photos (which is honestly a great sign for review, I honestly think the better the restaurant, the easier it is to get lose in the meal and forget about the pictures you're supposed to capture). Their menu design was so cute! I loved their sushi note branding that showcased today's date on front. We made reservations to sit at the wine seating. I personally love sake and thought it was going to be more sake forward but it was definitely a menu full of great wine. We didn't partake in the wine pairings which is probably a shame but the few sake that they had were fantastic. The somm was extremely knowledgeable and helpful and I will def go back for wine but if you are looking for sake experience, it is a little more limited compared to the wine. It was a dimly lit restaurant, not too loud, and the wine counter was in the corner so if someone is looking for a sushi experience, I'd recommend the sushi bar res. We tried the dineLA menu and wow- it was a perfect introduction to their sushi. Every bite was fresh, balanced, and flavorful. The service was prompt and professional throughout. Honestly, I'd be tempted to eat here daily if I lived close by!!

Such an amazing place to celebrate any special occasion. Josh our server was very knowledgeable and presented such amazing customer service. Everyone in the restaurant was so nice and amazing. They shouldn't just be Michelin recommended, they deserve their own star. The sushi was so fresh. They get the fish every morning from Japan. The flavors of the sauces did not overwhelm the natural taste of the fish. The ambience was such a pleasant relaxing and chill vibe without the awkward silence. My girlfriend and I celebrated our anniversary here and we were so thankful and grateful they made our anniversary a date to remember. 10/10 I'm coming back again

Celebrated our anniversary by having the Omakase at Sushi Note. Everyone went out of their way to make us feel special and celebrated. From a welcome glass of sparkling wine to a signed anniversary card from the staff. Every bite of the omakase was absolutely delicious. And the courses were impeccably timed. Often they come out so fast that I struggle to keep up. There were wonderful pauses between courses to make sure you enjoyed every bite and didn't feel rushed. Booths had plenty of space so you could breathe and not feel packed in. We lucked out and street parking was easy to find steps away from the restaurant. Thank you for making our night so special!!!

Luckily I got a last minute seating for 3 in the patio. Restaurant is so elegant - great for a date. However I went with 3 single friends and had a wonderful time. Omakase for $160 was well worth it. We were pretty full afterwards.

Food was great. We got the $130 per person sushi-only omakase. I'm looking forward to trying the wine pairing the next time I'm here. The only part of the experience that I found lacking was in the service. The person helping us struggled with remembering the name and description of the food and needed to step away to get the information. The food is intended to be eaten left to right, and the person also set it down incorrectly a few times and needed to readjust our plates to correct it. All in all, I think the cost of omakase is reasonable, but I would expect a more prepared server for that cost. It does seem like additional training is required.

Great experience! We celebrated our anniversary here and they were so nice enough to give us some sparkling wine and a a hand written note congratulating us. With the Omikase, the sushi was good except some were too heavy on the wasabi while another one was heavy on the pepper. After the line up was done the chef was nice enough to ask if we wanted more and we asked for one more which was the best one out of all them. Service was attentive and friendly however we did have to wait for a little to get seated even if we made reservations. We waited like 15-20 min. We also noticed some of the sushi chefs and service were having trouble distinguishing orders and made it obvious. Our experience didn't get messed up but I think others did. Parking sucks since it's on Ventura in Sherman Oaks so street parking would be the only option. Make reservations online for outdoor or inside seating.

We dined at the sushi bar on a Monday night to celebrate our anniversary. The entire experience was outstanding. The omakase menu was well thought out, delicious and quite filling. The service was absolutely amazing. My husband and I really enjoy omakase experiences and have been to quite a few wonderful places all over the country. This was intimate, very celebratory for our anniversary and felt like so special. The staff goes above and beyond. I'm already looking forward to our next visit. Thank you, Sushi Note!

Very high quality sushi! Inside is quite small, very limited bar seating and a handful of tables. We were sat on the sidewalk patio (only 2 tables). Service was attentive and quick. We tried the DineLA omakase but would definitely come back to try other menu items!

Sushi Note just opened in the remodeled space of one of my old favorite sushi spots in LA, so I came in excited to try it. Sadly, it didn't hit the mark. We waited about 30 minutes to be seated, opened a $100 bottle of sake while waiting, and then sat at the end of the small wine bar. Another 15+ minutes went by before anyone even brought us menus or water--I finally had to flag someone down. When the food came, most of the sushi was average at best. The only standouts were the miso soup and the Japanese eggplant, which were both excellent. Everything else felt pretty forgettable, which was disappointing considering the hype and the space's history.

The plaza itself is unassuming, and at 7pm on a Thursday, most other businesses in the plaza had closed. The lot was full, so we paid $12 for valet parking across the street.  We waited for about 10 minutes for our seats at the bar, and honestly, the bar was so much fun! We sat right in front of our sushi chef and orated our orders directly to him, piece by piece. He was such a jovial soul and made our experience so warm and enjoyable. I was very impressed not only with his ability to make sushi but the attention and care he paid to his customers. For example, he noticed that I especially enjoyed the fattier cuts of fish such as ootoro and salmon toro, so when I ordered yellowtail, he recommended that I try the kanpachi toro instead. It was a great recommendation, and in that moment, I felt so seen. The chefs here are truly masters of their craft, both in sushi making and hospitality. In total, I had the toro, salmon, unagi, scallops, kanpachi, salmon toro, and kanpachi toro. Every piece of nigiri I had was very fresh and delicious. My favorite pieces of sushi had to be the toro. You actually get two different cuts of toro with one order, chuutoro and ootoro which are medium fatty and full fatty respectively. Each piece was so delicious and indulgent, I don't know if I can choose a favorite.  I had a wonderful experience at Sushi Gen, and I think that sitting at the bar was way more fun than what sitting at a table would've been. I loved getting to interact with our sushi chef and felt very well taken care of. The sushi was amazing. I'm already plotting an excuse for my next visit.

It was definitely not what I've expected or ever experienced in a Japanese restaurant. We were quickly greeted by the staff and be seated by the wall. The upholstery of our seats were torn. The area where we were sitting was a bit too dark and could definitely add more lights for customers to see their menus. After giving a look at the menu, our server asked if we were ready. I said it's our first time so we need some time to look through the menu. She replied ok and left. We mainly ordered sushi items. Servers brought over each item one at a time. When I almost finished mine, my family is still waiting for theirs. You do see the staff walk by the tables constantly. However, I would hope the servers would ask how is everything and if we need anything else. Overall, sushi tastes fine. I probably won't be back given the experience that we had.
