    Omakase

Food was great. We got the $130 per person sushi-only omakase. I'm looking forward to trying the wine pairing the next time I'm here. The only part of the experience that I found lacking was in the service. The person helping us struggled with remembering the name and description of the food and needed to step away to get the information. The food is intended to be eaten left to right, and the person also set it down incorrectly a few times and needed to readjust our plates to correct it. All in all, I think the cost of omakase is reasonable, but I would expect a more prepared server for that cost. It does seem like additional training is required.

Luckily I got a last minute seating for 3 in the patio. Restaurant is so elegant - great for a date. However I went with 3 single friends and had a wonderful time. Omakase for $160 was well worth it. We were pretty full afterwards.

Celebrated our anniversary by having the Omakase at Sushi Note. Everyone went out of their way to make us feel special and celebrated. From a welcome glass of sparkling wine to a signed anniversary card from the staff. Every bite of the omakase was absolutely delicious. And the courses were impeccably timed. Often they come out so fast that I struggle to keep up. There were wonderful pauses between courses to make sure you enjoyed every bite and didn't feel rushed. Booths had plenty of space so you could breathe and not feel packed in. We lucked out and street parking was easy to find steps away from the restaurant. Thank you for making our night so special!!!

Great experience! We celebrated our anniversary here and they were so nice enough to give us some sparkling wine and a a hand written note congratulating us. With the Omikase, the sushi was good except some were too heavy on the wasabi while another one was heavy on the pepper. After the line up was done the chef was nice enough to ask if we wanted more and we asked for one more which was the best one out of all them. Service was attentive and friendly however we did have to wait for a little to get seated even if we made reservations. We waited like 15-20 min. We also noticed some of the sushi chefs and service were having trouble distinguishing orders and made it obvious. Our experience didn't get messed up but I think others did. Parking sucks since it's on Ventura in Sherman Oaks so street parking would be the only option. Make reservations online for outdoor or inside seating.

Very high quality sushi! Inside is quite small, very limited bar seating and a handful of tables. We were sat on the sidewalk patio (only 2 tables). Service was attentive and quick. We tried the DineLA omakase but would definitely come back to try other menu items!

Sushi Note just opened in the remodeled space of one of my old favorite sushi spots in LA, so I came in excited to try it. Sadly, it didn't hit the mark. We waited about 30 minutes to be seated, opened a $100 bottle of sake while waiting, and then sat at the end of the small wine bar. Another 15+ minutes went by before anyone even brought us menus or water--I finally had to flag someone down. When the food came, most of the sushi was average at best. The only standouts were the miso soup and the Japanese eggplant, which were both excellent. Everything else felt pretty forgettable, which was disappointing considering the hype and the space's history.

Incredible experience. We sat around 7:45pm at the bar. We were greeted with bubbles to celebrate our anniversary. We did the half note portion and a side of the spicy tuna biscotti (quite literally the best spicy tuna crispy rice I've ever had) Everything had such great flavor! Highly recommend - can't wait to come back.

Ask the Community - Sushi Note

    How much is full omakase?

    $150pp

    What's your corkage charge?

"CORKAGE - $50 PER 750ML BOTTLE, TWO BOTTLE MAXIMUM" It's on their website - beverage menu....

Are the miso and mushroom soup with dashi suitable for vegetarians and vegans? What are the veggie friendly options?

Dashi is made with katsubushi, dried bonito(fish)flakes so it would not be vegan.

Are the prices for the nigiri for 1 piece or 2?

    Two pieces!

Do they accept walk ins to the bar?

    Yes they do

Does the "whole note" omakase option come with two pieces of sushi for each item listed on the menu?

The whole note comes with ten pieces total, chefs choice. The other options I believe are one piece of what is listed

Do they have a take-out option?

    No, they do not.

Do they have their own parking? If not, where could i park?

Street parking or valet across the street at augustine wine bar

One of the best sushi spots I've had a in a while actually. We didn't really do any appetizers and went straight in for the fish. Started off with a couple of hand rolls, we did the crab hand roll and O toro hand roll. Crab hand roll wasn't as impressive, I've had better to be honest. I didn't let that experience ruin it for me because the toro hand roll was delicious. I think they add a piece of mint and it complimented the hand roll. Very crunchy nori wrapper and good rice to fish ratio. For our sushi we started with chu toro tuna, salmon belly, and halibut. Super fresh melt in your mouth quality. Halibut was interesting with the truffle, first time definitely won't be the last. We ended it with red snapper and black snapper. Nice of the chef to switch out roe for halibut for me on my omakase. However, probably the worst omakase I've ever had. No creativity, nothing felt premium, chewy fish, flavors didn't mesh, and half of it was salty. The miso soup wasn't scorching, which i appreciated at first but that meant the last few sips were fairly room temp. The real crab handroll was good. If the price point was $35 sushi set I'd give 5/5 but this is supposed to be premium omakase. I've been to other Sushi Enya locations and had good experiences, so this was very disappointing. Stick to the rolls and nigiri.

Long story short, our dining experience felt rushed. We waited about 45 min- an hour for a table. Once we were seated, we were pushed to order right away. I had come here before but it was my husband's first time dining. He needed more time to decide and look over the menu. Well he didn't get much of a chance to look at what he wanted to eat because the server was standing there waiting. Literally staring. What would you like to order? I explained to her that it was his first time here and he needed time to look over the menu and asked her if she can come back later. She proceeded to say it will take longer to get our orders in and delay the kitchen staff. That didn't end there. Right after our food was served, one of the servers came by to ask if everything was ok and if we needed anything. We said no. Shortly after, the server dropped the bill at our desk. Mind you, we were not even close to finishing our meal. I understand there are other customers waiting for a table but you shouldn't be rushing the customers currently eating. They clearly prioritize turning tables faster to make profit. It was not a pleasant or enjoyable dining experience. I would choose another sushi spot.

I find that a lot of the criticism levied against Tokyo Haus expects a restaurant that caters to all types of customers. I find that restaurants are like works of art in that art that tries to appeal to everyone won't appeal to anyone. I think Tokyo Haus's excellence will always be found in the AYCE option. That's what makes it a great restaurant. Becoming a regular here has been a delight, especially after finding our favorite items and sections of the menu. The service was unremarkable at first, but with some geniality and consideration, the servers will open up to you and take care of you. Over the past year or so, we've come to appreciate Alex, who always makes sure our meals are delicious. The restaurant itself is temperate and not too loud with plenty of space between tables/booths. The music playing is not too loud and allows for conversation to flow. They upgraded their ordering system to a tablet-based system a while ago, which has greatly streamlined the ordering process.
