If you are looking for a quiet place to have dinner this is definitely not the spot on a Monday night. My partner and I have been here a few times now as regulars, but never been here on a Monday night, sadly this will be the last time we come on a Monday night. So to explain what happen, we got in and the place was a but noisey than normal, busy as well, usually we sit at a booth, but none were available, so we were seated at the bar. About maybe few minutes went by an a booth opened up, and we were seated at the booth. So some time went by, I believe our water was refilled a few times before we receive our appetizers and first order of sushi. We took notice that done customers who came in after us, received their orders of AYCE Sushi before we did. The waitress did apologize a few times, as she was trying to keep us happy, and we were trying to stay as patient as we could. But overall, each person's opinion is different. So if you are wanting romantic evening with a loved one, or just wanting to relax, where you can hear the person you went to have dinner with, then Monday nights may not be the night at sushi nova. I was waiting for my lunch for over 30 minutes. I called the waiter over tp be told that he lost my order ticket. There was also a domestic-related situation going on in the kitchen, with people screaming and l, qhat it sounded like, possible physical altercation. The police should have been called and I was going to do just that if the situation didn't stop within a few minutes. What a disappointment. I'm not sure what happened with this place but the last couple of times we've ordered here it's just gone from bad to worse. This last time we got a roll with fish in it that had clearly gone bad, like immediate gagging the smell and taste was so off. The combo fried rice was also nasty, beef was undercooked and all gelled together in weird lumps, shrimp wasn't cleaned properly and still had tails... just all around a really bad experience. Everything is dirty in here! The table, the menu, the soy sauce container, literally everything!!!! There were gnats everywhere. They were all over the food and all over us. It was really hard to even talk and enjoy the "ambience" because we didn't want gnats to get in our mouths. It's was just terrible. This is my go-to sushi place, all you can eat for 24.99 which is the best deal anywhere around here. Not only is it a great deal, the sushi here is delicious. My personal favorites are unagi nigiri, rainbow roll, volcano roll, spiny tuna roll and spicy salmon row. The appetizers are included with the AYCE, my personal favs are the crab rangoon and spicy kani salad. Miso soup here is great as well. Have been wanting to try this place for a long time. Went on a Friday early evening. The type of crowded that lets you know it's gonna be delicious. A wait was starting around 6:00 so don't be surprised if you can't get seated immediately. I went alone & sat at bar which was perfect. Nice staff, had intentions on doing the AYCE but changed our minds and did the 3 signature roll platter. (Far left I think is Sonny Roll, my fave). The sushi was good - fresh - tasty - made well. I'd skip the appetizers, they were just 'meh'. The one thing that was lacking, but not a deterrent - was the presentation of the sushi on the plate. There was none, it was just plopped down on the plate randomly. They had $5 mai-tais on Saturday that were sooooooo good and had lots of booze in them. I've been here several times since learning about it maybe a year or less ago, and it's amazing! The service is great; the servers are kind, attentive, and knowledgeable, and the chefs are quick and skillful to make your order. The food is delicious, fresh, and well portioned for the price, and the All You Can Eat is incredible- I can't describe it well enough, you just have to experience it yourself! The only minor issue I had one of the times I went there was the smell of nail polish remover from the salon next door, but a request to move fixed that easily. I never knew this place was so close to me in the several years I've lived nearby, but I wish them the best and I hope to keep coming back for a long time! read more

Not impressed with this place. I would've given one star but my spring roll was really good. Where to start. I ordered the shrimp fried rice (not good). It has carrots, eggs, peas, onions & scallions in it. Unfortunately, this place doesn't have seafood fried rice. So I decided to do an upgrade & add scallops to it. The rice was dry & over cooked (no wonder they put soy sauce in my bag). Yucca had some delicious fluffy volcano fried rice (shrimp, crab, scallops, zucchini & carrots) & other items too. i placed a to go order at 11:24 and showed up 20 minutes later at 11:44 like the email had said to. we show up to get told we didn't place a to go order then the "manager" in the skinny jeans proceeded to tell us they gave our order away to someone else but unapologetically she'd put it in for us. we proceeded to watch people who came in after us to eat get served before and eye was batted. i asked to speak to the " manager" in skinny jeans bc at this point we have been waiting over an hour since we've placed our order. i said usually when you give someone's food away you make it a priority to get out she said they had made it priority and i said we have watched multiple other people get food before us but sure. she then handed us our to go order with absolutely no apology and our warm items were cold? this "manager" was about my age and it's truly disappointing that people like her give my generation a bad rep. won't be returning here ever! id also recommend to invest in some jeans w out holes doesn't give off manager material and to learn what priority means! xxxx read more

I went in with today around 7ish and we get out table and about 10 minutes of sitting I start to notice little flies made nothing of it. I understand you can't do anything about it. But then mid way through my meal a huge spider is crawling on the wall right by me. I end up putting my flash on to see where it went to make sure it's not on me. Bad idea turning my flash on the booth I was sitting at had long hair tucked into the cracks of the seat. Crumbs on the floor where more little flies were at. Then some girl comes up to me notices me looking around waiting for my waiter. I tell her what happened she apologizes. Then come back and says she took "30 percent off the bill" I just wanted to leave I had lost my appetite. I went on their website and there is an option to place an order online, which takes you to the Beyond Menu app. I placed my order through this app, which listed a promo for 2 free appetizers with a purchase subtotal of $50+. My order came out to about $53, and I added the promo. A few minutes later I got a call from the restaurant telling me that the prices posted on the Beyond Menu app were wrong, and that my subtotal was actually $48, and that I no longer qualified for the promo. I agreed to removing the promo. I figured I'd get a refund for the difference. Wrong. I was charged the full amount. When I went to pick up the food they also stapled a printed takeout menu to the bag. When I got home I noticed that the prices on their printed takeout menu are the exact same prices listed on Beyond Menu. I called and explained this and they told me that whatever price was 'in their system' is the correct price and they refused to admit that they had made an error. So I was charged the full amount, had the promo erroneously taken away, and got no refund for the supposed overcharge. I tried contacting Beyond Menu (remember this is the link Sushi Nova has on their own website for online ordering), and got no response. This was the third time I had ordered takeout at Sushi Nova. The first time I ordered I also had an issue. I placed the order in advance, knowing I'd need it at a very specific time for my sons birthday dinner. When I went to pick it up, they had never given the ticket to the kitchen. I was offered no apology, just told to come back in 40 minutes for the order. The sushi is pretty decent, and I'm thinking that the dine in experience is probably better, but I'd steer clear of takeout as they don't honor their own promos and offer zero service recovery when they are in the wrong. read more

I go to Sushi Nova fairly often and it's usually pretty good. Not my favorite spot but I do enjoy some of their unique rolls that the other sushi places don't offer. The service isn't stellar but not so bad that I wouldn't come back. However last night changed everything for me. My husband and I were eating outside enjoying the beautiful night and we were the only ones out there. We were eating our salads (the sushi didn't come yet, it was very early into our dinner) and we saw a MOUSE run out from underneath one of the crumbling brick pillars!!!! I was horrified but I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. 1. We were eating outside where animals live, the mouse was not inside the restaurant. 2. They most likely rent the space and don't have any control over whether or not the landlords provide much needed repairs. 3. It wasn't touching my food or anywhere near me. Our sushi came and I tried to not think about the mouse. It was very good and I was enjoying the night out with my husband. I almost forgot about it and then I saw 3 mice out of the corner of my eye running all over. Then to my horror, I saw a server open the door to the restaurant and hold the door open for a long time to let a family out. This never happened, but all I could think about was the mice running into the packed restaurant!!!!!! So at this point my husband told the hostess and we showed her where the mice were going in and out. We told her it's not a good idea to hold the door open for long periods of time because the mice will go in. She then got the manager who told the hostess and the server, "don't worry about the mice they are outside". She then proceeded to hold the door wide open to let another family out. I can't even make this stuff up folks. I feel bad about writing this but I feel people have the right to know. If it was handled differently I'd still be a loyal sushi nova fan but unfortunately I left feeling shocked and horrified. No one apologized to us or anything. I've worked in restaurants for a long time and this is every manager's nightmare, but not at Sushi Nova!! read more

Our 4th time coming here, the prior times have all been great! Food is great, service is great, drinks are so good! Clearly, since we keep coming back. However, felt the need to come and review this, we were sat in the back room with black curtains all around. Somewhat romantic, sat next to a big group, no big deal. There were, and I'm totally not exaggerating here, at least 10 fruit flies around us. Table felt sticky, and it smelled humid, and why was the floor super slippery? I most likely swallowed a fruit fly or 2. Ate everything we ordered, very good as usual and drank my 2 glasses of wine. Left with an annoying thought that there was a fruit fly in my mouth. Umm, maybe don't seat us back there next time? Or may I suggest getting rid of fruit flies in general? read more

I've been here many times before for dinner and I would say its a pretty decent all you can eat sushi place. That changed today when my girlfriend and myself decided to come here for lunch. We looked on the sushi nova website to check the menu beforehand. We wanted to see the all you can eat menu to make sure the menu was the same for lunch and it was. At least so we thought... When we arrived there we were seated immediately and the all you can eat menu that was posted online was placed right in front of us. Unfortunately they gave us a printed out menu with many of the items missing. One of which being the sashimi salad which was the only thing my girlfriend could eat due to dietary reasons. I then went up to the hostess to ask why was this not included when your menu has it listed. The hostess told us that they don't include everything on the lunch menu despite their menu and website telling us differently. We then left and as we were walking to the car the hostess ran out to tell us that if we wanted we could pay the dinner price to get the items. We still decided to leave due to their shady actions. We will not be returning due to their deceptive practices in not honoring what is listed on the menu in the restaurant and on the website. I would recommend going to Sushi Taku instead. Their menu actually reflects what is different between lunch and dinner and still includes the sashimi salad. Plus Sushi Nova basically copied their menu off Sushi Taku. read more

Tried this place for the first time tonight with a friend. It was SO GOOD!! The sushi was very fresh (always a good thing) and the seaweed salad was really yummy and crunchy. We both got the all you can eat sushi for 25 bucks and it was super worth it. I had three specialty rolls and one signature roll. All 4 were very delicious and not loaded with special sauces or weirdo ingredients. The service was also GREAT!! Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. I was in the parking lot and noticed it was busy so we called to ask about wait times, and they said 1 hour, which was fine, but then I asked to put my name down and she said I had to come inside, I told her I'd rather not because I can see it looks a little busy at the front, a lot of people close together, and that I'd feel more comfortable reducing my exposure to people not social distancing. She said that if I wouldn't come inside she wouldn't put me on the list. I asked her to please reconsider, it just didn't seem appropriate to make me come inside with a small crowd by the front when I was clearly here. The women was very rude about it and said she didn't care about my concerns. I guess I just wish she wasn't so rude about it. Best sushi joint in Orland Park! Outside my go-to sushi place 10 minutes from my house, this is by far one of the best in the south suburbs. Very similar to Sushi Taku on Division in terms of the menu, the appetizers and rolls are to die for. What I love about this place is the chefs don't put too much rice on these rolls, which makes it easier to order more for all-you-can-eat. I've tried every roll and appetizer on the menu, and I'm obsessed with the fried oysters and crab salad. The desserts are included in the AYCE, so I always get a piece of mochi, fried bananas and vanilla ice cream. Service is average, but the space is great-- very high ceilings and dim lighting even during the day time. I bring someone new here each time I've gone, and all of my friends love this place too! I highly recommend and I can't wait to come back if I'm ever in the area. read more
