This is honestly one of my go-to AYCE spots. They have a decent lunch menu and even a tasting menu for a crazy $19.95. We did the lunch just because I enjoy the salmon nigiri so much especially the cajun. The garlic salmon nigiri comes with a mayo sauce which is to me is too much. All the rolls are pretty dang good and the spicy garlic edamame is delicious but it tends to vary on how good it comes out day to day. You can't go wrong with the tempura veggies or shrimp. I recently ate here after they lowered their pricing to $30, which I honestly think is a great value. The food was really good for the price, and overall I enjoyed the meal itself. That said, the service was unfortunately the reason for the low rating. Our server, Jenny, was very dismissive throughout the entire experience. She rarely checked on us, only once on her own during the 1.5 hours we were seated, and most of the time we had to get her attention ourselves. When we asked for things or even said thank you, she didn't acknowledge us or make eye contact. I don't expect over-the-top friendliness, but basic attentiveness would've gone a long way. There's also a new policy where a 15% tip is automatically added, and it honestly felt like that removed any incentive to provide decent service. I work as a server myself, so I'm very understanding of how demanding the job can be, but I would never treat my own tables this way. One small but telling moment was when we asked for napkins and were given a single napkin... kind of the cherry on top. What makes this disappointing is that everything else was great. Terrible service. Waited in the front with my boyfriend for about 10 minutes. No one was at the front. Workers completely ignored us and kept walking by us. Nothing in the front indicated that there was a wait time. Nobody acknowledged that we were waiting to be sat. Trust me I am a patient person, but when the workers are walking by you and not even looking in your direction, couldn't even just tell us a wait time, that's ridiculous. I finally stopped one of the workers who had passed us about 3 times and asked him if there was anyone coming to the front to help us which he replied "She'll be right back." The "she" in question never showed up and about 5 minutes later he was the one who brought us to our table. I use to love this place and the portions were amazing. Went last night and had a great experience! We were sat right away. One thing that caught my eye was the different specials that they had. They have different AYCE menus to choose from starting at $19.95. We decided to do the Dinner AYCE which was 38.95. This included almost everything on the menu including the appetizers. There is a premium AYCE that's 47.95. Service was quick and friendly. We were helped by Joyce. Very attentive! We also ordered a highball which was ok but the soju margarita was a 10/10. Something that I haven't seen before is that the rolls come with 4 pieces instead of 8. I liked this because we were able to try and order more rolls than usual! The all you can eat menu is a good value and has various priced tiers ranging from $20-$50 depending on the time of days of the week. Food quality is average, I didn't think it was the best or the worst I've had. It's really a great place to come with a group that can eat a lot and share items. It honestly feels like we're seeing the end of the sushi era at many restaurants, where inflation and rising business costs are shrinking portions and hurting quality while prices stay the same. That was very noticeable here. Rolls that used to be 8 pieces are now 4, yet the pricing hasn't changed. The tablet ordering system didn't help either. It made the meal feel impersonal and confusing, and some items never arrived. Instead of relaxing and enjoying dinner, we were trying to keep track of what was actually ordered. Unfortunately, the food itself was disappointing. The sushi had very little flavor, and the salmon had an unpleasant, slimy texture. The mandatory 15% gratuity just added to the frustration given the overall experience. This place used to be very good, which makes this even more disappointing. We've previously been to the one spot in Rancho, and wanted to come try this other One Spot as the photos/reviews have been different. Ambiance: clean facilities including the restrooms (near the front), the tables and chairs are clean, the decor is nice, and the music isn't too loud. Good for any sized groups or occasions. Service: there were only one or two waitresses who actually gave good service and were attentive. We had been waiting for some plain basic water for so long when we were first seated, and wouldn't have gotten them if we hadn't asked. Though the service became better (once we caught the attention of the better waitress), the kitchen continuously got our orders wrong despite being clearly marked on the AYCE sheet. Not a big concern given its AYCE, but it's literally written on the paper so :/ Food: Food WAS of excellent quality. Fish had great flavor that wasn't pungent, rice was well seasoned and in good ratios, they have interesting menu options as well. HOWEVER, by the last round, it was very clear they were packing the nigiris with rice AND serving some lower quality fish. Our last round Yellowtail was almost gray and discolored, a vast downgrade from the pink and vibrant yellowtail nigiris we'd had before. They also went very heavy on the sauces for our creamy salmon (a Korean variation with tartar sauce and onion) on the last round. All in all, I would've given this spot a 5 if not for that last round. It felt cheap and distasteful to purposely add more rice, serve low quality fish, and smother nigiris in sauce at the end of our meal. Quality is not consistent, and if you're not consistent than there's no telling if you'll get the same experience from other yelpers/visits. First time coming to this location. We used to go to another one but we moved. First thing I liked is the option of AYCE other places don't do that. However that quickly gets negated by the automatic 15% gratuity. Gives staff no incentive to work for it. That is one of the things that makes me not go back to places. While the first waitress wasn't very friendly, the second waitress who took over was much more welcoming. The sushi was delicious, and I enjoyed every roll we ordered. The food and the service at Sushi One Spot in Montclair normally earn five stars with me. The issue I had with my last visit, was that they now have kiosks on each table and it is the only way to place your order. The food and service was good, as usual. The last time we were there, about six weeks ago, they had the kiosks, but when we told the waitress we didn't want to use it, she brought us a paper to fill out for our order, like they used to. This time we weren't given that option. Many people, it's not just me, do not want to touch these kiosks. They are filthy and in this post Covid world, I try to touch as little as possible out in the world. I wrote a review on another site mentioning this while also stating that the food and service was excellent. I received the most nasty, snarky comment from who I assume, was the owner of the restaurant. They basically told me that I should just stay home if I'm that worried about using a kiosk. Said they've been using the kiosk for a while now so I must not have been there for a very long time. It wasn't that long ago. I don't know if a teenager owns this place or if they hire a kid to respond to their reviews, but it was rude and completely unnecessary. The previous manager was the sweetest woman. She always remembered our names and that one of us needed the gluten-free soy sauce. We were supporting this restaurant towards the end of the pandemic and we worried for its future. I'm glad to see that it has succeeded, but I would appreciate more responsible adult management who knows how to respond professionally to a review like mine. read more

They have so many different rolls to choose from, but our favorites are the Asahi tempura, the Hawaii and Rainbow rolls. This is our go-to AYCE sushi spot in the Inland Empire. For just under $40 a person, the menu is pretty extensive and we like the variety of appetizers they offer. This location isn't too busy so we've never had to wait long to be seated. The dining area is dim lit and they usually have sports games playing on the TVs. The restaurant has an outdoor patio but I don't think I've ever seen anyone eat out there. We've eaten here several times and the service has been good. The workers clear empty plates off the table quickly and the sushi chefs are pretty fast at making your order. There have been a few occasions where some of the food we ordered never came or they brought us some dishes that we didn't order but it wasn't too big of an issue. For people who choose to do AYCE vs a la carte, I wish they had the option to order half rolls so we can try multiple ones without getting too full. As with all AYCE sushi places, there is a lot of rice in the specialty rolls. For the miscellaneous dishes on the AYCE menu, smaller portions would be appreciated as well. Hands down my favorite sushi spot of all time! I've been to many sushi spots and no other spots come close to this spot. I like how's theres plenty of parking. The inside is very aesthetically appealing and I love their flower wall. The music is a little loud but I don't mind it. I like how they serve 4 rolls on the sushi, that way you don't over order and can try a little bit of everything. Some of my favorite rolls have been Mexico City, Sakura, Nagoya, the Cajun salmon delight. We were able to escape the heat in a dim lit restaurant with A/C. Our group of 7 was able to get seated right away. Despite being a large group, the service was good! The staff came often to take our plates away and refill our waters. We only needed to raise our hand once at the end for our check. Considering it was AYCE, our table got a lot of different pieces and had two rounds. All of the pieces were good and came out relevantly quick. The only comment I would have is that they didn't have sauce plates and ginger/wasabi out until we asked them for it.
