I used to really enjoy coming here since it's so close to where I live. I would stop by once, sometimes twice a month. Unfortunately, my last two visits have been really disappointing, and it feels like things have gone downhill. Most recently with my last visit, the service was extremely slow. I watched food sit at the pass and saw my own order sitting on the sushi counter for over 20 minutes before anyone brought it out. At one point for the second round, I actually timed how long it took from when the server picked up our order slip to when food actually started arriving it was around 40 minutes before the first items started to came out. The visit before that wasn't much better. It also took a long time despite the restaurant not being busy, and the fish quality seemed noticeably off. I usually love the unagi and salmon here, but that day the unagi was cold, rubbery, and had an off-putting taste. The salmon tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge for a few days and was close to going bad. At this point, I can't recommend coming back, which is disappointing because this used to be one of my go-to spots in Rancho :( read more

How can I start this? Well, my family and I always come to this sushi one spot since it is the closest to us. However I have a few things to say about it. First, the sushi rolls are amazing and freshly made, there are no problems with it. However, the service is terrible. The servers are not very attentive or they forget to bring what you ask of them. Mind you, I myself work at a restaurant and I understand. However, asking more than 2 people for the same thing shouldn't be a problem. My sister asked for a fork and a straw and it took them about 20 mins to give them to her. Same thing happened with a couple of other people on our table. We always come to this location. And we always have a problem with the service. Great food (that's why we keep coming back). But, honestly there should be some improvements on attentiveness. Also, side note. The teriyaki chicken bowl was terrible. The chicken was boiled and then cooked. It was probably frozen. It will give you a stomach ache if it isn't cooked properly. And when it was ordered it took about 45 minutes to come out. The people that were on our table had the All You Can Eat and they were on their third round until the teriyaki chicken bowl came out. Also, there were three families on bill. So, instead of giving a full discount or refund on the bowl. They gave each family a drink refund (3.99 dollars off each bill... so total of 12 dollars of a refund) and mind you these are split checks. So basically the family who ordered the teriyaki bowl only got 3.99 off their bill! Anyways, beware. Great food. Bad service. read more

Honestly, it's more like 3.5/5. The fish itself is not bad in any way, in fact it was on the better end imo. However, the rice to fish ratio is not great at all. They use a lot of rice for their nigiri, so I was pretty full by the end of round 1. The rice was good, but after a while it does feel overly sweet because it's so much. The Cajun salmon delight and Cajun salmon nigiri were the highlights for me. I like that they didn't overdo it for the Cajun seasoning. I like that they offer scallop as well, but honestly it felt like the amount of rice overpowered the scallop flavor which was a bummer as that's my usual fave. Service was okay. They were friendly, but that's about all I can say. Our server never really checked in on us and only asked about water refills towards the end of our meal when we asked for our check. My bf and I came in around 2 on a Sunday and it wasn't packed at all. We got seated quick, which was nice. The inside is pretty dark, but not enough where you couldn't see. Coming out to the sun did feel a bit disorienting though lol. Overall, it's not a bad spot as the price was fair at $37.95/person for AYCE. If you like a lot of rice, sure. I've been going to this restaurant for 5 years now and its by far some of the best sushi in the IE. I love the giant tree in the center and how dark but visible the enterior is. The all you can eat menu is one of the biggest I've seen period, nothing seems to be off the menu;limited to (3) rounds, but assuming as much as you can eat. I have been considering trying this place for months and one afternoon recently, my spouse and I decided to try it out. I was super excited until we sat at the table and put in our drink order. The waitress asked us if we were doing AYCE and we said yes. She sat down the AYCE slips for us to fill in and told us there is mandatory 20% gratuity added to all AYCE tables. Then on the top in tiny letters on the ayce menu was a hand written note about charging an auto 20% gratuity on all AYCE bills. Very frustrating that this wasn't mentioned on the website, Google, ect but okay. We were a party of two. I understand a large party charge but really? I always tip 20%+ but being charged auto gratuity and then being expected to tip on top of that is crazy. Ayce for two people was 95$ and we had drinks. The auto 20% was on the entire 110$ bill, not even just the AYCE. So we paid 22$ in auto grat and then they wanted a tip on top of that. So we were supposed to essentially tip over 40$. I understand times are tough. I understand that the cost of everything is going up. However I do not think it's right for employers to push off the cost of their wait staff's salary onto us consumers or for them to expect us to subsidize their food costs ect. Does the 20% auto grat even go to the staff there?? Terrible and offensive business practice. This is the first time I've ever left a restaurant without tipping but I cannot justify 40$+ on top of a 110$ bill. Ordered nigiri for the AYCE & the rice was mushy slimy while the fish had a fishy scent/taste while also having a dirty water taste to it. It just wasn't good at all that I ended up ordering a spider roll as a safer option. It was not.. again the rice was mushy & slimy while the fried crab wasn't freshly fried, you can tell it was old by having a stale bite to it & it being cold. Only thing I'd ever feel safe eating is the miso soup. I ate a ton of ginger to disguise the taste but that didn't even help. Decided to come here for my birthday dinner. And My family and I were disappointed. Apparently, the management has changed since the last time I was here about two weeks ago. I was excited to come here for my birthday because I've been craving sushi. Upon arrival we were greeted by our server, who was super sweet and very helpful throughout the night when helping us. When we got our food, I noticed the quality has changed a lot. Me and my dad ordered Ayce. the Nigri sushi rice to fish ratio has changed. The cut of fish is very thin, therefore making it more rice and less fish. The raw shrimp nigiri didn't look like it is supposed to normally look. The shrimp is supposed to be a pale to white color, and it looks kind of dark, maybe they put too much sauce on top? The only thing I really enjoyed was the John roll. There has been an improvement in their tempura, as the tempura before was very oily, and the shrimp tempura that we ordered was very tasty and not as oily. The restaurant was pretty empty with a few people there. The reason I gave such a low rating was because one of the female servers that night had very poor customer service skills. When she came to our table to get our empty plates, She told my mom she was going to charge her for Ayce because she said she saw my mom pick one piece of Nigri from our plate. And we had a few pieces of rice from the Nigri on the plate and she said that she was going to charge us because we had leftover rice. I understand where she is coming from, she was just doing her job but the way she approached the situation and the way she said it was poor customer service skills, and that is something that needs to be worked on. Food was not great. I've been going out to try a sushi place per week, including ones that I've been to long before. I was at Sushi One Spot on their grand opening oh so many years ago. The quality is not what it was. Service - Great for me. Server was attentive and food came out quickly. However, I had arrived at the tail end of lunch. The restaurant quickly filled with dinner guests and I noticed that the patrons next to me had already been waiting 20+ minutes without a single first dish. Quality of the food - Not great. Albacore was mushy and "fishy" so I'm not sure how long since thawing, or been refrozen since receiving. Regardless, that was not great. The "protein roll" is on the "no rice" menu, and the only item I ordered from there. It's 95% imitation crab, which is very deceptive from the picture. Not great quality either. Salmon was fine but probably one of their most popular dishes so constantly new stock. Texture, smell, and taste were fine. Miso soup was very sad. It did have a nice portion of seaweed and scallions but there was barely ANY miso paste, and unsure if they add Bonito. Handrolls - these are one of my favorite things to get at restaurants because it can tell you a lot about the quality. Typically, I'd expect a handroll to have the leftover cuts, such as what would be considered "poke," the pieces that aren't a full piece of sashimi. However, it seems that they add more leftovers than that, and the albacore was especially unacceptable. Here, it seems to be macerated, acid washed to prevent you from knowing it's not fresh anymore. Very acidic and a bit citrusy. Handrolls are meant to use scraps and leftovers from sashimi blocks, but you should be able to tell what type of fish it is. The yellowtail and albacore looked identical side by side and the runner who dropped them off was unable to tell me which was which, red flag. Surprisingly, my server did not seem surprised that it wasn't great and told me she wasn't going to charge me before I asked. I wonder if the staff eats here... I unfortunately did feel sick shortly after and lost my lunch. This has never happened before, and I have a feeling they might not be storing or prepping at least one of the ingredients correctly. Now the soy sauce - it's not Kikkoman green. I brought in some Kikkoman from my bag and compared it. It tastes sweet here, maybe rancid, and definitely not as salty. It feels like they don't clean the dispenser, add mirin or sugar, or dilute with water. I have a feeling it's continuing to ferment in the containers and is diluted. Unfortunately, it's hard to find good AYCE places in San Bernardino area especially Rancho. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, and the available restaurants open in the area for the lunch to dinner transition are indeed limited. I would recommend to steer clear. 1 star food. 3-4 stars lunch service. 2/5 overall. read more

The cucumber on the cucumber salad was supper bitter i sent it back. The Tuna was dry, old and supper red that's when you know its been sitting there for days in the freezer. And the Salmon was also dry and had lots of white stuff in it. The service was average. The place is cool but just a little bit too dark. My best friend and I really like Sushi One Spot. We could probably be considered regulars here. We definitely like the fact that they offer an AYCE option. The nice part about that is they actually let you order half rolls from the menu, allowing you to try more items before you get too full. The staff is friendly and they keep things moving at a nice pace through dinner. They also do some fun things when it's your birthday or you're celebrating, with music and flashing lights. It's a whole vibe! Like most sushi places, it can be loud when it's busy. The lighting is nice so you can see how beautifully the rolls are made. They have quite a few no-rice rolls on their menu, and those have all been really good. Honestly, my favorite that I tried recently is the Cajun Salmon Sushi and the Cajun Tuna Sushi. We weren't able to get a table in the back where they were showing it, but we were still able to see the TVs. Ah what can I say, One Spot Sushi is still one of the best AYCE sushi spot. We love getting the Jen Jen and John, they are a must have whenever we come here. Then there's the crispy chicken appetizers that's also yummy. Also, the Cajun salmon is where it's at!!! I love coming here with my husband and those items I've listed above is enough to make these AYCE experience worth it. On top of that, on our last visit, were greeted and seated almost right away since we were the first patron of the day lol we were so eager to get these sushi :D The ambiance is very casual, plenty of clean tables and chairs for you to enjoy some delicious sushi.
