I have been going to Sushi One Spot for actual years! It was my go to high school spot(back in the day). A few years ago I stopped going because I was not impressed, but I decided to give it another shot and it's made it back up into my all-you-can-eat sushi rotation! The sushi was really good! I liked the fact that most of the nigiri were quite small so you could have a lot of them and the fish to rice ratio was pretty good too! I did find that the yellowtail wasn't too flavorful the night that we came, which was a shame because I love yellowtail, however all the other fish was great and the Uni was so delicious it made up for it. I liked the new golden plates and they have a pretty good happy hour and specials menu ! My biggest complaint is the restaurant is so dark. Visited today and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. We were seated extremely close about a foot away from another family, which made the dining experience feel uncomfortable and lacked privacy. We also had a crying baby with us, and a more thoughtful seating arrangement or even slightly expedited service would have made things more hospitable and relaxing for everyone involved. Additionally, when we asked questions about the sushi rolls, our server wasn't familiar enough to identify or explain them, which was surprising for a sushi restaurant. Service overall felt inattentive we had to repeatedly ask for drink refills and still left thirsty. We traveled from Los Angeles County because we used to be regulars here, but based on today's experience, the new staff does not reflect the level of service we once enjoyed. It's disappointing, as this used to be a go-to spot for us. I hope management takes note and invests in better training and staffing, because long-time customers like us would love a reason to return but as of now, we'll likely be looking for a new spot in our area. For the 10th time I kept saying you did not bring the check. All we want to do is pay . How can I start this? Well, my family and I always come to this sushi one spot since it is the closest to us. However I have a few things to say about it. First, the sushi rolls are amazing and freshly made, there are no problems with it. However, the service is terrible. The servers are not very attentive or they forget to bring what you ask of them. Mind you, I myself work at a restaurant and I understand. However, asking more than 2 people for the same thing shouldn't be a problem. My sister asked for a fork and a straw and it took them about 20 mins to give them to her. Same thing happened with a couple of other people on our table. We always come to this location. And we always have a problem with the service. Great food (that's why we keep coming back). But, honestly there should be some improvements on attentiveness. Also, side note. The teriyaki chicken bowl was terrible. The chicken was boiled and then cooked. It was probably frozen. It will give you a stomach ache if it isn't cooked properly. And when it was ordered it took about 45 minutes to come out. The people that were on our table had the All You Can Eat and they were on their third round until the teriyaki chicken bowl came out. Also, there were three families on bill. So, instead of giving a full discount or refund on the bowl. They gave each family a drink refund (3.99 dollars off each bill... so total of 12 dollars of a refund) and mind you these are split checks. So basically the family who ordered the teriyaki bowl only got 3.99 off their bill! Anyways, beware. Great food. Bad service. read more

Did the ayce at 34.95 per person. The appetizers were solid and the fish was good, my favorite was the cajun salmon and tuna. Really good flavor, however there was just way too much rice in the nigiri. They pack the rice super tightly on top of it being as big as the fish so it kind of seems like they want you to get full quickly so you don't eat as much. I've personally never been to a sushi place that gave that much rice and it kind of got unbearable at some point. The uni wasn't the freshest as well. The servers were nice and accommodating, I think they negotiated the price of the leftover charge which was nice of them. Honestly, it's more like 3.5/5. The fish itself is not bad in any way, in fact it was on the better end imo. However, the rice to fish ratio is not great at all. They use a lot of rice for their nigiri, so I was pretty full by the end of round 1. The rice was good, but after a while it does feel overly sweet because it's so much. The Cajun salmon delight and Cajun salmon nigiri were the highlights for me. I like that they didn't overdo it for the Cajun seasoning. I like that they offer scallop as well, but honestly it felt like the amount of rice overpowered the scallop flavor which was a bummer as that's my usual fave. Service was okay. They were friendly, but that's about all I can say. Our server never really checked in on us and only asked about water refills towards the end of our meal when we asked for our check. My bf and I came in around 2 on a Sunday and it wasn't packed at all. We got seated quick, which was nice. The inside is pretty dark, but not enough where you couldn't see. Coming out to the sun did feel a bit disorienting though lol. Overall, it's not a bad spot as the price was fair at $37.95/person for AYCE. If you like a lot of rice, sure. The fish I received didn't taste fresh at all. It didn't even seem like it was refrigerated. All the fish was room temp. To think that some people say this is their go-to spot is ridiculous. The fish is sliced super thin and they give you a huge portion of rice for nigiri. Forcing you to eat it or pay an extra cost. Could have gotten better quality from buying slabs of Salmon from Costco and preparing it at home. The service from the wait staff was decent, at least. Ambiance is okay. Really dark inside, but I wonder if that's on purpose. Overall taste of most of the food was whatever. They need to try their own food before serving it because quality was worse than what you'd find at a grocery store. I don't even care how this review makes me sound. I always thought this little spot was a fast food place! I was wrong and it's actually quite a large restaurant. Very good sushi rolls and OK service. The wait staff seemed very young and busy balancing the heavy workload as best they could, but the flavors of the food more than made up for the delays! I would def go again read more

I used to really enjoy coming here since it's so close to where I live. I would stop by once, sometimes twice a month. Unfortunately, my last two visits have been really disappointing, and it feels like things have gone downhill. Most recently with my last visit, the service was extremely slow. I watched food sit at the pass and saw my own order sitting on the sushi counter for over 20 minutes before anyone brought it out. At one point for the second round, I actually timed how long it took from when the server picked up our order slip to when food actually started arriving it was around 40 minutes before the first items started to came out. The visit before that wasn't much better. It also took a long time despite the restaurant not being busy, and the fish quality seemed noticeably off. I usually love the unagi and salmon here, but that day the unagi was cold, rubbery, and had an off-putting taste. The salmon tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge for a few days and was close to going bad. At this point, I can't recommend coming back, which is disappointing because this used to be one of my go-to spots in Rancho :( read more
