Things were starting to close ~8:15 (the hall formally closes at 9 pm, but kitchens close earlier), so I decided on Hawaiian barbecue and ordered loco Moco for $14.95. It came with fluffy white rice and a side of macaroni salad, a side of steamed cabbage, and extra sauce. One order was plenty for the both of us so we took the other order to go. The first bite of the savory short rib instantly met my expectations. The short rib flavors were a combination of salty and sweet. It went very well with the fluffy white rice and especially with the crunchy steamed cabbage. The macaroni salad was just ok for me. Overall, we really enjoyed the short ribs. Loco Moco: The plate combo consisted of two hamburger patties with brown gravy mushroom sauce and two sunny side up eggs. For the sides it comes with two scoops of rice, macaroni salad and cabbage. To be honest this plate was a lot of food. The loco moco sauce was rich in flavor, but it was a little over-salted. I had to keep chugging down water. The hamburger patties were moist and easy to bite into. The macaroni salad had great flavor, but there was too much pepper for my taste. I've eaten at Milo's Hawaiian BBQ twice now, and both times were absolutely amazing. I'll be honest--I was hesitant at first because of the low Yelp rating (3.0 stars at the time I checked), but I'm SO glad I decided to give it a chance. This place blew me away. Both visits were right when they opened, and maybe that's part of the secret--the food was fresh, hot, and clearly just made. First plates of the day? Possibly. But whatever the reason, the quality was on point. My husband ordered the BBQ Chicken Plate both times and loved it. I went with the Loco Moco Plate, and it was everything I hoped for--rich gravy, perfectly cooked beef patty, runny egg, and rice that soaked it all up. The meats were cooked to perfection, juicy and full of flavor. I also really appreciated the macaroni salad--creamy and well-seasoned--and I love that their greens are cooked, not just tossed on the side raw. It really rounded out the plate. Service was friendly, and food came out quickly both times. I'm honestly shocked this place doesn't have a higher rating. Our cashier let us know there was about a 30 minute delay since they had many orders but surprisingly, it only took about 15 minutes to get our food. That was a plus since we were starving. I ordered the Chicken Katsu & Short Rib plates. Both combos came with mac salad, white rice, and chopped cabbage. There was even a lime slices which I was confused but found out later its a thing. Hmmm! The chicken katsu was breaded perfectly and had a great taste. It wasn't too salty and it paired well with the dipping sauce. The short rib had great flavoring but it was a bit tough, so there was a struggle to eat it. Rice was okay and you can't go wrong with that. Mac salad was good but nothing special about it. We always walk by this place when we're in Haven city and stop to Peruse the menu. I always tell myself that I'm gonna try something there however I'm never that hungry to order a whole plate. This time, however I had some little ones with me and thought perhaps we can order the Mac salad and try that out. The serving itself was generous, two scoops for five dollars filled up the entire Box. It had quite a bit of black pepper in it, luckily it wasn't that peppery, could have used a little bit more salt.
