My family of 4 decided to try this place because they had good Yelp reviews--and we are so glad we did. The food was delicious. We had numerous specialty rolls and Nigiri. They brought us complimentary edamame as soon as we sat down along with waters. I think the service was outstanding (rare these days). The server quickly took our other drink orders. Two male servers continued to "check in" frequently, they were professional, cheerful and polite. We never felt rushed, just attended to. I can't believe I haven't updated my review on their AYCE option. This is, IMHO, the best AYCE place in OC. We've tried all the other popular ones in town, but this one is the one we'll drive to, even all the way from Tustin. Although their options have changed over the years, our favorites are still there. Plus they've added the option to order sashimi. This option is only available for dinner but you CAN ask for the dinner menu at lunch. You just have to pay the extra I think $4 or something. Worth it if you order all the sashimi options which there are 5 or 6. What always impresses me is that their cut and quality of fish on even their AYCE menu is awesome. Often times, my wife and I order like 10 orders of nigiri (so 20 pieces), and it's all good. Also, if you like something not so typical, you gotta try their baked lobster roll. They take the meat from a crawfish, mix it into a orange, mayo based sauce (not spicy), pile it on top of a California roll, and then bake it with what I think is a light layer of cheese. It's SOOOOOOO good. Whenever I got, I think I just eat salmon sashimi and baked lobster roll. This place forced me to give it a 1 . New year's day. 1 server. 20 min wait time for table. We were given two papers, nothing really noting which was AYCE. Handed it over and received some of our appetizers. 20 minutes passed and we asked where our sushi was. Server stated to us nicely that only one page was for AYCE, so we had to fill the page out again. He promised 1st in line for the misunderstanding. Another 10 Min passed and nothing. We didn't get priority on our sushi for the misunderstanding. We weren't asked if we needed anything else. Barely got refills on our water by a second server that came in to assist the solo guy. I used to love ordering take out from this place and today. I had a huge craving for sushi and ramen. I was at Starbucks across the way from this place and decided why not. Treat yo self. I left dissatisfied, disappointed, and regretting my decision to one eat there and two provide them with my customer loyalty. First. Portions where off. My ramen looked nothing like what was pictured and it didn't even come with Nori. The piece of pork (singular) that was on the ramen looked like it was for a toddler. See pictures. My first cue to get out was when they served me dry and stiff ginger. Second red flag should've been the amount of time it took the server to come ask if I was ready ( mind you place was empty ; I was the only person there & no it wasn't 5 min before closing). Final red flag was after I paid . I kept looking at my receipt and thinking something isn't adding up..... that's when I realized the tax for my meal was more than ten percent of my actual tab. The server charged me a tax rate of 13.6%. Which is almost double the state of ca's tax bracket and that of the city of Fullertons. Which I'm sure isn't legal and I doubt I'm the only customer this establishments done it to too. Beware , double check your receipts and avoid this place if you can. There are far better restaurants out there. Kinda disappointed that this happen at one of my local gems. More so, that they think it's ok to do this to the community. read more

My daughter craved sushi on our last day in socal and she chose this restaurant based on yelp reviews. The place is clean and the staff provided great fast service. The portions were huge considering we ordered from the lunch menu and two rolls (these were big). You get what you pay for, and the food was very good. I was disappointed with the shrimp tempura because it's not tempura breading they used. I believed they used maybe Pablo breading and the breading was a little harder than a tempura breading. As you can see that it's a lot darker than the sweet potato tempura on my picture. I believe that the owners aren't Japanese, but Korean instead, because they had bulgogi which is a Korean dish. A lot of Koreans like to own Japanese restaurant and serve Japanese food which aren't authentic. The size of the shrimp was way too tiny and skinny. I'm used to a bigger size shrimp tempura. It's not authentic shrimp tempura. And it's not tempura sauce that they use because it tasted sweet. read more

I must be a glutton for punishment, shame on me. Couldn't make it to anywhere decent after work for dinner came here after having this place on my radar for a while. My sister and I were actually going to another sushi place, but it was like 30 mins before closing, so we yelped and found 'sushi pop' with high ratings. It was close to where we live and all the reviews seemed very good. So we went and sat down at the bar. One of the server advised us that their last call for AYCE is 9:30 pm, so it is better for us to get regular orders. So we ordered Philly crunch and Jalapeno bomb and since my sister is a great fan of cream cheese within sushi rolls, she loved the taste of sauce and cheesy texture of Philly crunch. My choice was jalapeno bomb because I'm good with spicy food and jalapeno bomb sounded like my kind of roll. I gotta say, the combination of yellowtail and jalapeno on the top is just so right. My husband LOVES sushi so when we drove thru Starbucks and saw the sign for ALL YOU CAN EAT we knew we had to come back. I opted for AYCE and ordered a crunchy California roll, and some veggie noodles. They were both great no complaints on taste -only side thought maybe presentation & portion of the noodles felt small and scattered for $9 but then again it comes with an appetizer plate before hand so it may even out well. The ayce brings you the rolls of choice in 3 pieces which is good because if you don't finish it you pay for it. They were offering 20% off for military & first responders which was amazing! For 1 AYCE + 1 drink, 1 crunchy CA roll, and the noodles it was $36.xx before tax! That is the most awesome deal & it was great sushi. Definitely coming back here with friends/family. Note it is kind of small in there, really only room for one big party if that because primarily it's booths that fit 4, and some scattered tables on the right. Let me preface this by saying I generally prefer hand rolls, nigiri, or sashimi to sushi rolls. So you'll rarely, if ever, see me give a good review to sushi roll establishments since I find them all to be alike and just not that great. Sushi Pop was no different. Much to our surprise there was still a wait at this restaurant past 9 p.m. They had a plethora of other Japanese food items to order from, but since it was just my fiancée and I we decided to share four sushi rolls. Given the large number of items on their menu though, it was clear that this place did not necessarily specialize in sushi rolls. We ordered the Baked Salmon, Lemon, Rainbow Spider, and Rock & Roll. They were all very one-note, as is generally the case with sushi rolls. They were all variations on typical California Rolls or Shrimp Tempura Rolls, just with different assortments of sashimi on top, tempura flakes, and the same sweet and spicy mayo and teriyaki glaze on all of them. In addition to not being particularly unique, the sashimi used on the rolls was not the freshest. The baked salmon roll was on the dryer side as well and felt overcooked. This place is also heavy on the rice, making the meal filling, but also lacking in overall taste. So, all in all, nothing special and nothing great. The rolls averaged about 15 dollars each, so at least it's not the worst in terms of pricing. I will also add that this restaurant was very busy and felt understaffed, but despite this the service was great and friendly. Still, I won't be revisiting Sushi Pop. read more

I visited Sushi Pop with a party of three in a Wednesday night. Last call for all food is around 9:45PM and we arrived around 9:30PM. The food was proceeded fast, I had the a Lemon Roll and Lobster Dynamite Roll. The Lobster Dynamite Roll had a nice presentation display, with a small lit fire in the middle. We enjoyed the music and sang along to every song. I am only taking one star off, because it was closed to closing and we felt rushed. TLDR: Good food, poor service. I've placed an order for pick-up on three separate occasions and the food wasn't ready on time once. This last instance I had to wait an extra 15 minutes. Might not sound like a big deal in the grand scheme of life, but I was planning around their ETA. The food I had picked up at the restaurant before ended up getting soggy and cold because of the wait. I'm not big on sushi, but I know many people that are and they claim that the sushi is affordable and delicious.
