We had such an amazing experience at The Kickin' Crab in Fullerton! The owner, Kat, came out and was incredibly welcoming, accommodating, and genuinely kind. She even held my baby for a little bit, which I thought was so cute! And the food was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! My fiancée and I have tried several other seafood boil places in the area, and nothing has compared. We ordered a 3-pound seafood boil bag with head-on shrimp, head-off shrimp, and mussels, and everything was cooked perfectly. But the seasoning was what really stood out, seriously some of the best flavor we've ever had at a seafood boil. Kat also told us they're having a Love Island event on August 31, where you can come watch, enjoy some drinks, and have a good time! Overall, this was an easy 5-star experience. It was my first time here. The business is new; just open for eight months. The location is spacious and clean with a nice outdoor patio area. I was lucky enough to meet the boss, Kat. She was very nice and hospitable since she knew it was our first time there. She came by to check up on us frequently and also gave us a free bottle of suit. Thank you so much chi Kat. When arrived I put ourselves on the waiting list w the iPad provided. Within 10-15 mins our table was ready w a text to my phone. I was surprised for a holiday and around 5:15 we didn't have much long of a wait. What we ordered ~ Sweet potato Fries, Cajun fries & onion rings were all yummy crispy and on point. ~ kickin wings was crispy yummy and we just got the non flavored one for my kids. It was good. ~ garlic noodles were scrumptious and a must when here. Filled w a lot of fresh sautéed chopped garlic. It was so good and not dry nor overly greasy from the butter it was cooked in. Kicking Crab is always a reliable spot for flavorful seafood. We got 2 lbs of headless shrimp ($21/lb market price) in the Kicking Style seasoning w/ 3 pcs of corn + Cajun fries. The shrimp had lots of garlic and flavor without being too overwhelming, and the fries were crispy as always. One corn piece was a little tough/overcooked, but our waitress was very kind, apologetic, and quickly replaced it. Service was fast and attentive overall. Total came out to ~$60 before tip. You'll notice I didn't post any pics, that's because I was so amazed with my meal I legit forgot to snap even a single picture! I had never been to Kickin' Crab before but the wife and I decided to check it out. We opted for a couple plated meals and apps so we could try more stuff instead of filling up on a seafood boil. But next time we're coming for the seafood boil! By the way, the entire staff was awesome, they were on top of everything and constantly running around. Every part of the meal came out very quick and piping hot, just the way it should. We started with cajun edamame which was very hot (temp) and full of cajun flavor. Will get again. We also got a cup of clam chowder and gumbo without rice. Both were, again, super hot (temp) and savory. The clam chowder had a ton of clams in it and the gumbo was filled with sausage and shrimp. We ordered some sausage on the side just to try it out and it was a perfect side dish. Katie got the shrimp platter which was a bunch of shrimp in garlic butter, served with rice, and lots of garlic chips on top. If you love garlic and don't mind peeling the shrimp this is the perfect plate for you. I got the tilapia plate which is cooked in cajun rub and garlic butter over red rice and a side of broccoli. This was my all time favorite tilapia dish ever. It was crispy on the outside, fully covered in seasoning, cooked perfectly, and the rice was so fluffy. Seriously one of my top 10 favorite meals of all time. They also have a full bar if you like cocktails. The whole dining room is ocean themed with a lot of tables to sit at. We ordered each a pound of mild shrimp with sausage and corn. Some chicken tinders with cajun fries and fried calamari. Im impressed their shrimp were big in size and cooked well (most of the time, shrimp were overcooked). Their chicken tenders were moist and tender (a lot of times, it's dry). At the end of our meal, our server gave my brother a slice of cheesecake with lit candle and sang happy birthday. Lol. Our server was awesome and he made sure we meet all our needs. I've been to several Kickin' Crab locations, but the Downtown Fullerton location has a completely different vibe. The location is fantastic, with a great view of the street, and the atmosphere is much more lively and energetic. It feels more like a fun sports bar or party spot than a typical seafood restaurant, with giant TVs that make it the perfect place to catch a game. We came here with friends to watch the World Cup and had an amazing time. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our visit. They checked on us often and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was excellent. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. One thing I really appreciated was that the seafood wasn't overly salty like many Cajun seafood places. The seasoning was well-balanced, allowing the natural flavors to come through while still packing plenty of flavor. The biggest surprise of the night was the cocktails. I honestly didn't expect a seafood restaurant to serve drinks this good! Megan made our B-52 shots, and they were easily some of the best I've ever had. The three distinct layers were beautifully poured, then she lit them for that classic flaming finish. It was strong, smooth, and incredibly well-balanced. You could really taste the rich Kahlúa coffee liqueur, creamy Baileys, and Grand Marnier working together perfectly. I've had B-52s at plenty of bars, and these honestly rival--and surpass--many of them. If you're coming here, don't skip the cocktails. They're an unexpected highlight and absolutely worth trying. (Counter with alcohol brands logos plastered all over) I don't think our waiter checked on us more than once and once was to ask what we wanted and to bring the bill. Having to ask for utensils/napkins/refills in a empty restaurant makes no sense. The food was okay for the price point I was expecting a little bit more of an elevated experience. I wouldn't come here for the food. There's other seafood boil places that are better and more affordable. We asked for the bill (which was 100+) and I handed the waiter my card and a 20$ bill for a tip. And he goes "20 in cash and the rest on the card ?" And I go no it's all on the card and the 20 is your tip. The way his face instantly transformed and this high pitched fake new voice suddenly erupted from him and he scrambled away. Ordered some Oysters, drinks, and Noodles. All were delivered within 10 to 15 minutes. Had the opportunity to meet the owners. I forgot their names, but they were very friendly and accommodating, always asking us if we were good. Ambiance was cozy and warm. Service was prompt and food was delicious. I highly recommend this place. Stop by if you are in the area. They recently just opened a few months ago. Plenty of parking nearby. Can be crowded at times but is manageable. read more

I came here to eat with my family after hearing good things about the service but unfortunately I received the complete opposite. We had to keep waving down our server for more lemons and refills, didn't really bother checking up on us after they took our order. Id understand if it was a busy afternoon but it wasn't busy at all they kept heading back and chatting with other employees. Drinks and food were okay but not worth coming back for the service. I think I'll stick to the Irvine location. Word of advice to management, if you're okay with your servers chit chatting at least have them do it where customers won't see. read more

Not only was service phenomenal and the food delicious (the garlic noodles are amazing) , but they let us know about upcoming deals and a special FREE alcohol tastings they were about roll out as they just got their liquor license (perfect for DTF). The owner Kat came over and. Spoke to us personally about the events and how much community means to her. A week later we were back with a party of 20 because Kat was so kind. She had special frozen margaritas prepared, an additional bar menu for those who don't love seafood, and we even got cool merch! Kat and the team were DEFINITELY worth the extra few bucks. My classmates and I came here after our exams to celebrate and had such a good experience! The live crawfish and shrimp were sooo juicy and I appreciate how large they were! We got the combo #1 with clams, crawfish and shrimp and added some eggs. Definitely have to get the KC fiesta sauce (spicy ofc) We also got the garlic noodles and cajun fries and everything just hit! Very attentive, helpful. Even the owner came by to make sure things were on, that tells me a lot about how prideful this person is with their business! It was really clean and looked really nice and organized inside (as expected as it's a new business). Reason for the 4 stars were is the food was great (btw!) but it had waaayyyyy too much garlic of the sauces, and I mean WAY too much. Didn't taste bad, but you know what I mean. If I were to go again, I'll definitely ask for no garlic or easy garlic if that's even possible the next time I go to see if that makes the difference. I hate leaving negative reviews, but unfortunately this was a really disappointing experience. The service was by far the biggest issue. Our server never once checked on our table to see if we needed anything or if our food was okay. I had to flag someone down three separate times just to ask for things we needed. When I asked for extra limes and later tried to order a beer, our waiter seemed annoyed that I was asking. The food didn't make up for the poor service either. The shrimp was overcooked and so difficult to peel, and the calamari was extremely over-fried with mostly breading and very little calamari. I usually enjoy Kickin Crab, but this location completely missed the mark. Between the lack of service and the disappointing food, it was not worth the visit. We've been coming here since their grand opening, and somehow, they just keep getting better! The seafood is always fresh, and my daughter can somehow put away 3 pounds of crawfish all by herself and she is pretty picky. Lately, they've also added some cocktails and new bar menu items, which gives us more selection, especially when there's a big sporting event on the TVs. Honestly, one of the best things about this place is the staff. They are always amazing and make us feel like we're part of the family every time we come in. They have a quaint private room and a larger somewhat private space to host parties of any kind with large big screen TVs. Pets are welcome, in the fenced in patio area, the owners are animal lovers (two of their rescues were there) who have water dishes etc outside for their customers fur babies (super sweet!)
