There was a group of 5 when we arrived. A male server was busy for taking orders. We totally understood and waited for the menu. We ordered one Shashu ramen and one Black Garlic Tonkotsu ramen, no appetizers or drinks since it was around 5 PM and it was our first time. Yes, we were totally fine to wait our ramens to take longer time because of the group's orders. We asked a pepper for ramens when they were served. The male server told us, "Please serve it as many as you want." What? Most of Ramen shops have condiments on tables. Especially if owners are Japaneses, not only salts & pepers, but also garlics, sesames, etc. Do you think we consume a half bottle of black pepers? It is just for adding on a scent of black peppers to increase appetit? (I can tell the owner is Korean per menu.) Ramen presentation was good, but if I can tell, soup was not hot enough and noodles were egg noodles that are for Shoyu or Miso Ramens. Tonkotsu Ramen should be served by thin noodles. Upon checking out. We were presented a bill saying $61.00!! 2 ramens only cost $61? They added on a soda and an appetizer and ramen said Spicy ramen! Love that Giant Ramen opened a new location in Fullerton! I've had it a few times from BP but this one is literally a few blocks away from me. It took over the old Orange Roll & Sushi place and it's definitely an upgrade. They're newly remodeled inside, plenty of parking and food comes out quick! We've only ordered takeout so far and everything tastes the same as the BP location and is ready in 20 minutes, which is key when you have hungry toddlers. During my dine in we ordered the February special which was the black garlic tonkotsu and a sushi roll (keto roll) as well as the kimchi ramen. Idk if their cashu was better than most but... I ate all of it. Usually I kind of get over it after a few pieces. The soup and noodles were great. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. The kimchi ramen was spicy! lol. But good in a Tangy way. The keto roll (which I think was half a roll for the special) was a perfect add to the ramen. You get lots of fish with no rice which is just what i needed. I'd order again Seating was fine. The restaurant isn't big so it can get crowded fast. It did get busyyy but the young male server was really working hard making sure everyone was taken care of. Decided to try this place after enjoying some matcha nearby! Saw the name of the restaurant and the big "GRAND OPENING" sign and was curious. Overall it was pretty good! Me and my partner went in the evening around 7pm on a Friday and it wasn't crowded. The server was very friendly and welcoming. I got the chashu ramen (minus bamboo shoots) + salmon nigiri and my partner got the spicy ramen + sesame chicken. The chashu ramen was good! The portion size was very generous too. I got about 3 pieces of meat and a generous heaping portion of noodles I couldn't finish on my own! It's pretty heavy on the garlic flavor - I'd ask for less garlic next time if possible! The egg in the ramen was so flavorful too and I enjoyed it a lot. I'm crossing my fingers they offer a smaller portion size in the future (even though it's called "Giant Ramen" haha) I'm sure just one order of ramen would be enough to share with a friend or partner. The sesame chicken wasn't as crunchy as I expected - it's pretty lightly breaded just fyi. Still good but just wasn't what I was looking for. It's still good and juicy - not dry at all! A standout dish was the salmon nigiri! I wasn't expecting it to be that good but it tasted soooo clean and was so tender. I'd even come here for just the nigiri next time!! So delicious. Ramen came out cold, and the sushi rolls didn't arrive until we were almost done eating which defeats the whole experience, especially when rolls should typically come out first or alongside. There was also confusion when we were being seated. Another customer claimed we cut them, and instead of staff stepping in to clarify, we had to handle the situation ourselves. The waiter approached and just stood there listening instead of addressing it and preventing it from escalating. Overall, the service and timing were disappointing and not well managed. Sushi is my favorite food, I eat it every week. Believe me when I say, this is the best sushi place in Orange county. You would never expect it from a strip mall sushi place, but it's absolutely top-notch! This was a very surprise quiet opening, today was their first day. Heard nothing, no grand opening, no promotions, in fact, I might be their first customer since no one else seems to be here. The place is clean and they have great selections. It seems they have another location in Buena Park, to which I am familiar with, and they do very well there. I ate it all but it did take me awhile there was a party of 2 that was there before us and a party of 4 that came after us. They finished before I did heh heh I'm slow anyways... Servers Benny and Eric(k) do what many other workers do not do, they cleaned up the tables right away. I blinked and noticed the table was wiped cleaned. I ordered takeout from Giant Ramen and Sushi. I had the Salmon bento box with an extra order of tempura shrimp and the spicy tuna California rolls. It all cost about $38. Bottom line, was that the food was not very high quality. I didn't enjoy the entire meal. The teriyaki salmon was over cooked and sparkly seasoned with mostly bland teriyaki sauce. The spicy tuna California rolls were bland tasting. The salad was lacking any salad dressing. The veggie tempura was few and fair tasting. I ordered a side of tempura shrimp for an additional $11 and I received 6 pencil thin shrimp. The miso soup was the best option of the order. Overall, the quality of the bento box contents was pretty poor and lacking in taste. The additional side of shrimp was a small portion and I feel over priced for what you get. 2 out of 5 stars, I don't recommend you eat here unfortunately. read more
