not impressed. i ordered spicy tuna crispy rice. i have no clue what the f i got. tuna was not the regular color and it was not spicy by any means. hmm an la scam? i ordered one of their salmon packages they have. all it is is seared salmon, salmon nigiri. also my nice meal was ruined by kindergarden day. place was filled with little children and their parents. it was far from relaxing and comfortable. hearing " ok johnny sit here and eat your food" for 20 minutes isnt a great time. the other thing is the counters are dirty and stains of soy sauce everywhere. how hard is it to wipe down counters? i appreciate the different sauces but i def wont be back. i paid $35 for disappointment. read more

Tucked away in the Grand Central Market, this place is a little gem. They have some counter seating if you'd like to eat there or they can pack it to go so it doesn't get soggy. I ordered the Classic rushroll $28 and they were absolutely delicious and generously filled with protein. It includes bay scallops, tuna, salmon, crab, etc. and they offer sauces on the side like yuzu ponzu, spicy mayo, and soy sauce. The service was quick and friendly. read more

The food was sooooo good. Very fresh and innovative the way they present you with your hand rolls. They have plastic on the seaweed to keep it crispy and fresh. Very easy to pinch off and remove. I particularly liked the bay scallop and the yellowtail. Would come back 10/10! The service was quick and it was a bit hot because it was 80 degrees out, not a great place to cool off. Would love it more if it was air conditioned even a little. read more

Came here for lunch with the family. There was no cashier when I placed my order so I had to come back a few minutes later to order and pay which was odd. Anyway, sushi is ok. Definitely a welcomed addition to GCM since there is no sushi/sashimi spots like this. I got the 5 handroll set which was decent except for the salmon which was a bit fishy. Overall, solid option but small portions for the price. read more

So delicious! I loved how convenient, delicious and simple everything was. The fish were incredibly fresh and I appreciate the detail to use the pull-away wrappers to keep the nori from getting soggy. I had the miso soup, tuna nigiri and rushroll set. Everything was so good it was hard to pick out which I liked most. The miso soup was flavorful and packed with seaweed which is already saying a lot compared the quality of other fast casual Japanese food places. The service was excellent. They were all friendly and you can see them make your food fresh at the counter. I loved that there was plenty of counter seating and tables nearby. It was packed midday on Thursday and I was glad to be able to find seating that was close by so I didn't have to walk back and forth while waiting for food or if I needed anything. One of the most pleasant "takeout" style sushi experiences I've had. Highly recommend! read more

Me: very good sushi. It's probably the best sushi you can get at this price point. My gf: I have celiac, and the chef was very accommodating. He customised the omakase menu for me to make sure I could eat everything. The seafood was so fresh and everything was delicious! We will brave the GCM parking garage just for this. read more

Great service! They did open a bit later than the rest of the vendors here, but I say we'll worth the wait. They show you instructions on how to peel off the plant based plastic film thing. They have their own seating as well if you prefer to be seated in a more bar style. Sushi rolls came out quickly and stayed intact. read more

I got their signature sushi rush set. Very high quality. There was only one guy there who did everything and I am amazed. This place would give Sugarfish a run for their money, if they can keep up with the "sushi rush"... lol. Actually, it only took about ten minutes to get my order. I got my order to go and it was nicely packaged, especially the hand roll which came with an instruction manual. I made sure to get the spicy mayo and ponzu sauces... they are incredible. While the sushi is good, and even experimental in its use of a few garnishes, where it loses a star is the price to sushi ratio. They were touting a seasonal special of 17 pieces of nigiri, so I decided to trust their recommendation, while it did have a couple of scallops, over 12 of the pieces were salmon and yellowtail (the cheapest of Nigiri usually)!yet they charge over $50 for it. I could easily popped around to Sugar Fish just a few blocks over and gotten an entire meal of much higher quality sushi for 40. so of money is no object given them a shot otherwise seek better and cheaper fare. read more

I definitely recommend this wonderful sushi place. I ordered a Sushi Rush set with one piece of Rushroll. Sushi was fresh and I a tell it was melt in your mouth premium quality after just one bite. The Rushroll was unique and tasty. I would definitely go back for more. Also indulged in a Mango shave ice. The mango puree syrup was sweet and delicious. Cooled me off in the hot day. I will be going back soon. read more

Today marked my 5th time eating at sushi rush. I normally get the happy hour sampler and always feel incredibly satisfied with the amount. The quality of the fish stands out and the fun garnishes make each bite a party for my taste buds. Not only is the food great but the service I receive here is the best of any restaurant in the market. I came at a pretty slow time and chef personally grabbed me a room temp water from their downstairs storage room. I was embarrassed from having him go out of his way for me but so grateful that he cared. read more

Grabbed a couple of rolls here and will definitely be back! The rush roll wasn't our favorite style, they were harder to eat than we anticipated. But the flavor was great!! Staff was really nice and helpful! Definitely recommend. read more

I love this place! I've been here a few times and everything I've tried is delicious and the service is always great. This most recent visit, I got the Mini Sushirush set and I was really impressed with the flavor combinations. Loved the yellowtail with yuzu, and the spicy tuna roll almost made me break out into song. Absolutely worth a visit! read more

Would recommend that when you order that you make sure they actually have your order. I I had the woman take my order, watch me sit down at the counter and then she went ahead prepared everyone else's food. I finally asked and she said she forgot. No remorse, no apologies. By then, had to wait another 25 minutes. :( read more

Turns out that we went the 2nd day of the soft opening of Sushi Rush. Fresh upscale sushi option now at the Grand Central Market. I ordered the Salmon Zukushi Sushi Set for a light and fresh serving of salmon done 5 ways. They also have Spicy Mayo on the side as well to change up the taste. My favorite was the salmon sushi with the green stuff. Also, had a half serving with of the Matcha Shaved Ice with Red Bean. Everything was spot on! Will definitely keep this in my rotation of sushi spots. Highly recommend! read more

New addition to GCM. Good service and delicious. I got their standard 8 piece sushi plus roll for $25. It was so good, I got a second one! The guy serving us was nice and friendly and the sauce options were nice. Rice was a little crumbly but overall great little spot for reasonably priced sushi without having to skip over to little Tokyo. Would go back! read more

This place has very high ratings, so we stopped here first. After ordering, my son was grossed out when we saw the counter smeared with soy sauce and food droppings from previous diners. They didn't seem concerned about cleaning it while new diners sat down. The sushi looked like it came from a supermarket. There were small bits of fish in a mayo based dressing, and it wasn't very tasty. The seaweed was wrapped in plastic , so you had to slide the plastic off sideways, in order to eat the roll. This means that the filling often falls off, and you have to reassemble the roll. The sushi is very overpriced considering the quality and quantity. Seven bucks each, for small dabs of fish in mayo based filler. The fish taste isn't fresh or flavorful, such a ripoff. I see why they don't put napkins out in a public market, but when I asked for napkins she only gave me two, I had to ask for more. We won't rush to return read more

If this had been my first time trying sushi, I honestly don't think I would ever want to eat it again, and that's sad because sushi is one of my all-time favorite foods. Visually, the menu and photos are a solid 9. Everything looks beautifully presented, and there's a good variety to choose from. But once the food arrived, it felt like I had been completely catfished. The sushi didn't taste fresh at all. My salmon had visible browning on it, which I couldn't bring myself to eat. What really turned me off was the seaweed for the hand rolls, which came individually wrapped in plastic. It gave the whole meal a cheap, prepackaged airplane food vibe. I ordered the rush roll I believe, which includes a few different types of rolls, and unfortunately, not a single one was enjoyable. No amount of sauce could save them, and trust me, I tried. I also tried their mango shaved ice for dessert in hopes that it would be my saving grace and all it did was solidify how below half ass this place is. And just to really seal the deal, as I was tossing my trash and wiping my hands, I noticed a tiny worm on my finger. Like... why not, right? read more

The service was 5 stars and the food was so filling!! I was greeted with a warm smile by the nicest person at the register. He gave me his undivided attention and continued to anticipate my needs throughout the entire experience. I got the California roll and miso soup - both were delicious. They offer pretty much unlimited spicy mayo, unagi sweet sauce, soy sauce, yuzu ponzu and ginger along the seating area. I ordered the $5 cali roll and even though I expected it to be really small, it filled me up more than I expected! The miso was lacking a bit in the flavor department but I still enjoyed it. I would've taken photos of the food but I ate it too fast! Highly recommend! read more

Grand Central Market, where Sushi Rush is located, is within walking district of the downtown courthouse. I came here on a jury duty lunch break. The fish is fresh, perfect seasoning, and they keep the seaweed crispy by keeping a plastic film between the nori and the fish until you eat it. read more

Our server recommended their Kid Season sake which was exactly what I was looking for: filtered and semi sweet. Highly recommend!

The plaza itself is unassuming, and at 7pm on a Thursday, most other businesses in the plaza had closed. The lot was full, so we paid $12 for valet parking across the street. We waited for about 10 minutes for our seats at the bar, and honestly, the bar was so much fun! We sat right in front of our sushi chef and orated our orders directly to him, piece by piece. He was such a jovial soul and made our experience so warm and enjoyable. I was very impressed not only with his ability to make sushi but the attention and care he paid to his customers. For example, he noticed that I especially enjoyed the fattier cuts of fish such as ootoro and salmon toro, so when I ordered yellowtail, he recommended that I try the kanpachi toro instead. Yellowtail with yuzu is pretty interesting. Yuzu is a literal harsh lemon shaving on top. Bitter but pleasant taste with the yellowtail which tastes pretty fresh. Nigiri sizes are pretty small with only 2 or 3 teaspoons of rice with a larger ratio of fish. $48 for the sushi rush set with $2 tip and water. Cashier wasn't that friendly lol. The albacore with the crispy onion was quite good , the albacore was buttery, soft, and a perfect amount of crispy onion topped on it. I think it also had a drop of ponzu on the albacore. Oh the tuna with the wasabi root is quite excellent as well. The tuna is very fatty and soft but the wasabi root is only mild and not harsh like wasabi paste. The salmon and mayo was a little odd, the salmon tasted good and soft and fatty however the mayo glob didn't add a flavor that I think complimented it, it made it too creamy in my opinion. Salmon is the weakest so far. Spicy tuna hand roll was pretty good, although kind of odd having to assemble the seaweed around the wrap myself. It had a nice crunch from the crispy onions. The toro caviar is actually incredibly good, the toro is so soft and buttery! Quite a great cut of toro!! Overall pretty great but even with the sushi rush set and toro added, it was a bit too expensive in my opinion for what you're getting relative to the portion. Pretty great otherwise. read more

This was surprisingly good sushi, with great flavors and excellent aesthetics. I had the basic set with two pieces of Maguro with a wasabi root puree, two pieces of seared salmon with a small drop of mayo, two pieces of albacore with crispy onions and scallion, two pieces of yellowtail with sliced yuzu rind and a spicy tuna hand roll that is packaged in a pretty neat way to maintain the crispness of the nori.
