    a bento box of sushi
    Helz M.

Jimmy's bentos are seriously the best kept secret in LA! I hadn't ordered in a few months and BOOM, he has seriously perfected his boxes!!! His original bento is now two-tiered. He was super sweet and let me just order a half box since I'm allergic to anago (which was the main fish in the second box). Faves from the bento box: Nodoguro Sumibiyaki, Nodoguro Katsu and Agebitashi Nasu. I would totes just eat and entire box of this!!! The Chutoro/Hokkaido Bafun Uni/Ikura Don was legit. I seriously wish I didn't need to share this with the hubs. The toro was so fresh it was incredible!! Last but not least I'm so glad we finally got a chance to try Jimmy's bouzushi. It was SOOOO good! Since we weren't able to eat this right away, we got nodoguro instead of sanma.

After many months trying to secure a bento box from hayato, I gave up lol. Right when I hit process payment, someone snatched my bento box. By chance, I came across IG, a very delightful photos of a long 3 sectioned bento box. A quick follow and a fast response from this guy Jimmy. Placed my order and drive there few days later to pick up. Took tons of photos and video unwrapping the beautiful bento box after locking my bf in the basement for like 30mins. My bf will act like a cat in the cat food bin when the owner forgot to close it. A wrath of expensive deliciousness goodness scent rushed out as I peeled up the lid. I was shocked. Frozen in time glancing at the glistening fish roe and other unfamiliar items. Caramelized Roasted lotus root, Sansai charcoal grilled king mushroom is one of the best things.  The taste of the pickled ginger bulb is a mixture of lid and green onions.  The grilled Tamago is great, and it's hard to find in most sushi restaurants in Los Angeles.  In short, the taste and taste of everything is not like the local Los Angeles. Reminded me of Kyoto sushi rice with red vinegar, and it is made in the correct way.  My mind is filled with the scene of Kyoto Kaiseki cuisine at $280 per person. I wonder if Chef Sugishita sources his fish similar to Naka, Hayato, and former Somni. Meet today at the time and place appointed by James. You have five or six cars waiting for him. A large box of things came over and James enthusiastically served your box with both hands and asked what color of fabric you like. I quickly picked up his work with both hands and was moved by his sincerity. It is not easy for chefs to keep up in 2020.  Going home to eat and eat immediately to get his drive and belief and insist that $ 80 is worth ordering and paying for it. I didn't know he is that huge until I googled him last night. Much respect to you Chef James Sugishita.

Amazing authentic Japanese lunch bentos! Everything tasted amazing, felt like I was in Japan! Even more convenient that he serves in the same building as me!

oh boy, where do I start? Jimmy's cooking skills are out of this world. I've been enjoying Jimmy's food since Pandemic started, and he's introduced me to the finest in tastes from Japan. It's a surprise everytime we order. Best of the best in ingredients sourced from Japan. Highly recommend Jimmy's boxes.

Picked up amazing bento and chirashi for the boyfriend's bday! The presentation was beautiful and every bite is a subtle yet memorable flavor bomb. The veggies and fish were incredibly fresh too. Highly recommend!

5 stars Jimmy is a sushi wizard, absolutely delicious! 5 stars with ease, I highly recommend to any sushi lover. Stop by, pickup and enjoy!

The technique used on the fish skin makes for a beautiful presentation and enhances the grilled flavor.

Overall, a great spot for fresh handmade udon, and I'll definitely be back to try more items on the menu!

Sashimi were very delicious and high quality. )-/ thick cut and no weird fishy smell. Skewers were also very thick and way bigger than i expected. Love the beef tongue the most. The shrimp and cauliflower tempura basically taste the same (sweet and sour). Def disappointed at this bc we expected the typical tempura without being soaked in the red sauce. Agedashi tofu was also just ok. It was kinda soggy even though we ate it immediately. The wasabi is good though and parking is $8 in the personal lot (more expensive bc we paid with card). I give it 5 stars because: - The generous portion and yummy sashimi and skewers. - Service is also fast and the waitress serving us was very friendly! - We brought few slices of cakes and there is no cake fee. They even put it in a nice plate with flower haha :)

Even if don't like seabass, you must try this one! it's buttery, perfectly charred and melts in your mouth. The prime beef is equally impressive: tender, packed with rich umami flavor, and cooked to perfection. For a larger dish, you can't go wrong with either the sea bass or blue crab hot pot. It's so rich and comforting, the fish is always perfectly cooked, and it's more than enough food for two people. Be sure to order a side of seaweed and make your own hand rolls at the table. The kabocha salad is also unexpectedly delicious and pairs well with the other indulgent items in this order. They recently moved next door and they may be overbooking themselves so expect to wait quite a while- even if you have reservations.

On weekends, expect to wait at least an hour. Luckily, there are plenty of bars nearby to kill time. Death & Co is right next door if you're in the mood for unique cocktails, and EightyTwo is a short walk away for more budget-friendly drinks. Parking is easy enough since there are lots all around, but prices vary. I still haven't found the best deal - the one I used was $10/hour. Seating is limited and bar-top style, so it can feel pretty tight. The stools aren't the most comfortable either, so don't be surprised if you accidentally elbow your neighbor. I recommend ordering one of the handroll sets. My favorites are the yellowtail and albacore handrolls. The yellowtail sashimi is good too, but I actually prefer it as a handroll. You also can't go wrong with the rock shrimp tempura as an appetizer.

Just a heads-up that they do have a 45-minute dining limit during rush hour. We started with the six-hand-roll set, which included tuna, albacore, salmon, yellowtail, scallop, and shrimp tempura. I liked that they gave us the option to make the rolls spicy or non-spicy. All of the fish tasted fresh, and each hand roll was served right after it was made, so the seaweed was still crispy. After finishing the set, we were still a little hungry, so we ordered a few of their specialty hand rolls: unagi and shrimp tempura, plus the soft-shell crab. The soft-shell crab was BOMB and was easily my favorite thing we ordered. It was a cute spot with good-quality hand rolls, and I would definitely come back, especially for the soft-shell crab!

We didn't wait long as it was a Sunday afternoon, and our waitress was so helpful in deciding what to order (the menu is extensive!). We got the baked scallop roll, the crunch spider roll, and the Baja California roll. All three were amazing!!!! We also got spicy tuna crispy rice and the gyoza to start. I am not joking when I say they were the best restaurant gyoza I've had in Los Angeles. Juicy, warm, nice golden crisp on the bottom, and flavorful filling. The baked scallop roll was my personal favorite of the three; it was warm and savory, with an excellent bite from the juicy scallops. It was a great contrast to the Baja roll, which is cold and has crunchy elements to it. The soft shell crab flavor is deliciously salty and pairs great with the surrounding flavors. I'll definitely be back for more!

It started off with me observing the way the ankimo hand roll was being made right in front of me. I saw that they added some type of sauce and once it was placed in front of me, I politely asked if this roll contained any soy sauce, which I am allergic to since I have celiac disease. It was confirmed that this role had soy sauce, so I refused the roll, and at first the manager/supervisor was able to rearrange my order to regular 6 hand rolls. The ankimo that wasn't touched by me I asked her if I should give to my peers instead of throwing the handroll in the trash. She said yes. After my 5th roll they asked if we want to order anything else. I said I am still missing one roll. And she said you had 5 and the ankimo. I said I didn't eat the ankimo. And she said your friends did .... So she charged me the extra one that was going to the trash because I didn't want to waste food ... Throughout our conversation, it was not confirmed that the handroll I gave to my friend was supposed to be a part of the six hand rolls upgrade that the manager had offered me. It would've been best if she gave me some clarification so that I was not kept waiting for an extra handroll that I was able to eat due to my medical condition. I thought they would have been understanding, but unfortunately, I was wrong
