    a bento box of sushi
    Helz M.

Jimmy's bentos are seriously the best kept secret in LA! I hadn't ordered in a few months and BOOM, he has seriously perfected his boxes!!! His original bento is now two-tiered. He was super sweet and let me just order a half box since I'm allergic to anago (which was the main fish in the second box). Faves from the bento box: Nodoguro Sumibiyaki, Nodoguro Katsu and Agebitashi Nasu. I would totes just eat and entire box of this!!! The Chutoro/Hokkaido Bafun Uni/Ikura Don was legit. I seriously wish I didn't need to share this with the hubs. The toro was so fresh it was incredible!! Last but not least I'm so glad we finally got a chance to try Jimmy's bouzushi. It was SOOOO good! Since we weren't able to eat this right away, we got nodoguro instead of sanma.

After many months trying to secure a bento box from hayato, I gave up lol. Right when I hit process payment, someone snatched my bento box. By chance, I came across IG, a very delightful photos of a long 3 sectioned bento box. A quick follow and a fast response from this guy Jimmy. Placed my order and drive there few days later to pick up. Took tons of photos and video unwrapping the beautiful bento box after locking my bf in the basement for like 30mins. My bf will act like a cat in the cat food bin when the owner forgot to close it. A wrath of expensive deliciousness goodness scent rushed out as I peeled up the lid. I was shocked. Frozen in time glancing at the glistening fish roe and other unfamiliar items. Caramelized Roasted lotus root, Sansai charcoal grilled king mushroom is one of the best things.  The taste of the pickled ginger bulb is a mixture of lid and green onions.  The grilled Tamago is great, and it's hard to find in most sushi restaurants in Los Angeles.  In short, the taste and taste of everything is not like the local Los Angeles. Reminded me of Kyoto sushi rice with red vinegar, and it is made in the correct way.  My mind is filled with the scene of Kyoto Kaiseki cuisine at $280 per person. I wonder if Chef Sugishita sources his fish similar to Naka, Hayato, and former Somni. Meet today at the time and place appointed by James. You have five or six cars waiting for him. A large box of things came over and James enthusiastically served your box with both hands and asked what color of fabric you like. I quickly picked up his work with both hands and was moved by his sincerity. It is not easy for chefs to keep up in 2020.  Going home to eat and eat immediately to get his drive and belief and insist that $ 80 is worth ordering and paying for it. I didn't know he is that huge until I googled him last night. Much respect to you Chef James Sugishita.

Amazing authentic Japanese lunch bentos! Everything tasted amazing, felt like I was in Japan! Even more convenient that he serves in the same building as me!

oh boy, where do I start? Jimmy's cooking skills are out of this world. I've been enjoying Jimmy's food since Pandemic started, and he's introduced me to the finest in tastes from Japan. It's a surprise everytime we order. Best of the best in ingredients sourced from Japan. Highly recommend Jimmy's boxes.

Picked up amazing bento and chirashi for the boyfriend's bday! The presentation was beautiful and every bite is a subtle yet memorable flavor bomb. The veggies and fish were incredibly fresh too. Highly recommend!

5 stars Jimmy is a sushi wizard, absolutely delicious! 5 stars with ease, I highly recommend to any sushi lover. Stop by, pickup and enjoy!

The technique used on the fish skin makes for a beautiful presentation and enhances the grilled flavor.

Truly incredible experience. It's a real joy and privilege to eat this food and one of the best kaiseki experiences in Los Angeles.

Salty but lacks a depth of flavor. - The truffle sushi roll had a prominent truffle flavor (which I enjoyed, but may not be for everyone). Crunch spider roll was a favorite; just a solid classic with soft shell crab (love that an extra piece of crab is included on top of the roll). The fried onions on top of the Tokyo roll were crispy and sweet. Uni was fresh and delicious! I had uni only one time before and had a bad experience (it was incredibly fishy, and now I realize, not fresh). So I was apprehensive at first but I'm glad I gave it a chance because this uni was buttery, smooth, and briny in all the right ways. - Matcha tea was okay, medium profile matcha flavor. Not bad for the value though. Clean and refreshing. -Might be a small thing to point out, but I like how they include lemon slices automatically in the water. I also like the texture of the ice (evenly crushed and almost like a slush). Service 3.5/5 Not too long a wait for the food. Polite and professional waiters. Aesthetic 4.5/5 Traditional izakaya vibe with a relaxed, warm atmosphere. Low lighting inside. Modern layout with traditional Japanese decor.

We ended up being sat next to the grill, I have a shellfish allergy so we asked to sit in their outdoor seating area (which had plenty of tables open) instead just so my allergies don't get triggered by all the vapors. As we walked to our outdoor table, my husband and friend heard three workers talking crap about me and complaining that I shouldn't even be eating there because everything had shellfish. Let's be honest it's not that hard to accommodate, plus we're giving you our business so what's the problem? Rude all the way through table service, then when we were all finished, we had barely just paid and we were finishing our drinks when the same three workers rushed into our table to clear everything out and pushed us out of our table. We're all a pretty chill group of people but every single one of us left saying what the actual f*ck was their problem?

The place was packed and had a lively atmosphere. There was a lot of energy, but it was still comfortable enough to have a conversation and enjoy the meal. I ordered the ramen along with the fried rice, and both were excellent. The ramen was rich, flavorful, and easily one of the best bowls I've had in the LA area. The fried rice was also a standout and paired perfectly with the meal. Service was great from start to finish. The staff was attentive, friendly, and kept everything moving despite how busy it was. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. If you're in LA and in the mood for ramen, this is a spot you should absolutely check out.

Initially they mentioned they didn't have uni available, but the attentive manager came to us and shared that he wasn't completely satisfied with the quality of the uni that day, though he was still willing to serve it to me. I really appreciated the honesty and passion for quality. I came here eyeing on the uni pasta, so I had to go for it. Maybe he was right, it was just OK. It wasn't necessarily the uni itself, but the pasta and cream sauce felt slightly overcooked and a bit dry. It could've used more sauce to bring everything together. Still, no ragrets (iykyk). It's something you should try here . We also ordered the hand roll trio and toro, which was yummy. The fish was fresh, beautifully cut, and served in generous pieces.
