Inside the Eldorado Casino in-between the ever so beautiful and delicious Roxy restaurant/bar and lounge. It's a busy Saturday night. I think Chris Rock was in the building performing a sold out show or something because the house is jam packed. From Circus Circus, to Silverlegacy,all the way throughout the Eldorado there's a sea of happy looking people. The crowd and the vibe makes the scene feel like a Holiday! Good times, I love that. It's around 8pm I think when I arrive in line. I can hear a live band playing and singin Some AlGreen. Very cool! This is where the party is at! Nothing better then fresh sushi to feed the belly along with great music to feed the soul. Not trying to take anything away from the other sushi buffets in town, But this is NOT alll you can eat here. Which I like! Sushi Sake Is alacart only. I don't know why but whenever I eat alacart sushi vs buffet sushi It seems that the quality of the ingredients are more fresh and more delicious. Whatever it maybe, my 2 go to things I order when I come here is the Eldorado Rolll with extra lemon slices on the side yum! mmmmmmm....Just writing about it makes me want one lol. I waited at least 15 min for a glass of water and at least 20 minutes for a beer. Though the meso soup was amazing, I had 2 bowls. The tuna was mushy, and the salmon skin hand roll wasn't crispy. Just don't bother going here. The Service: We went on a Saturday at 4:30. We were given the last two seats at the bar (on the far end). Other than asking us if we wanted to buy a cocktail, the server did not check on us even once. We eventually had to ask the sushi chef to call a server down to us. The server went to another couple a few spots down from us and then returned to the far end of the bar. When we were brought the check, it was dropped off and left without a word. We had to wait several minutes for them to come Back and get it. The food: The sashimi plate and sushi combo were excellent. Everything was fresh and flavorful. My friend and I came for dinner after the "Le Cirque" show and left annoyed with the service but satisfied with the food. With the show ticket you get half off your entree. The Place: This Sushi restaurant is located inside El Dorado casino, in front of the goddess water fountain. It is a small place; they have bar seating and some tables inside a fence. They tried to expand their seating outside the fence but I think is too crowded. The Food: My friend and I the All You Can Eat sushi dinner option. We sat in the bar and asked the nice chef to make us some rolls and appetizers. The server took our orders for drinks; I wanted a cosmo, and we wanted waters. My friend got miso soup, and I got a seaweed salad. The server took about 10 minutes to bring us the drinks, by that time the first sushi roll was out. I asked him to please get me some soy sauce and lemon wedges. It took him about other 5-6 minutes. The chef making the sushi seemed experienced and polite. We had "Upside down shrimps," they were yummy! We had a "Mountain roll," it was good too. My favorite roll was the "Ex-Girlfriend roll" OMG! The best of the night. For dessert, we had the mango sorbet. It was super refreshing! Coming from El Dorado, it does not surprise me. They have delicious gelatos. The Service: I understand that we have a shortage of employees, but putting a young guy who has no idea how to serve people is just damaging the business reputation. The service was beyond slow! It was just a dinner for two friends, and it took us about 1 hour and 40 minutes. In the end, we just had to stand and pay at the register because we were tired of seating. The word sushi refers to the seasoned rice used in making one of the most ubiquitous foods in Reno!. While the rice is cooling, the sushi chef fans and adds a sweetened rice vinegar seasoning to it, and this seasoning is meant to accentuate the flavors of certain fish served over it. Having only eaten sushi in Reno for a long time now, I have just about completely forgotten what great seasoned sushi rice is supposed to taste like, and settled for the good sushi rice our restaurants use. Well the other night that all changed, when I was served properly seasoned sushi rice perfection at Sushi Sake in the Eldorado. It was so good it just about punched me in the mouth! When Sushi Sake opened, they received a lot of attention because of the head sushi chef's intensive training. Interviews and articles touted his desire to do things the traditional way, and there was a specific emphasis on the rice. Naturally I wanted to try it out, but unfortunately I left a bit disappointed for a handful of reasons. Well, I'm super lucky that a friend of mine invited me to join them for dinner this past week, because let me tell you, this is some good sushi! The rice is cooked and seasoned perfectly. You can tell because you can see, and almost feel the individual grains loosely held together by the starch, and the sweet and tangy flavor of the vinegar comes through in every bite. I never thought I'd wax poetic about RICE, but this stuff is really good! The menu here is smaller than others, with simpler and well thought out options. I tried nigiri and 3 rolls, my personal favorite being the Dynamite. Usually a roll by this name has a long list of stuff, but here, it's just fresh salmon, habanero, green onion, wrapped in nori and some of that awesome rice. The sweetness of that rice cools off the clean heat of the habanero making for a fantastic bite of food! I keep saying it, but it's all about the rice! It's the reason I also liked the eldo roll, nigiri, and salmon skin handroll! I wonder if I'll dream about that rice tonight? I'm certainly tasting it again now. Ok, so I've been coming here for a few years now and I will say it is my favorite place. The waitstaff have become my friends and we now follow the sushi chef, Khoun, where ever he goes. The sushi he is so tender and the flavor a so good. Truly, Sushi Sake had my vote for best sushi in Reno. All the staff make it a point to get to know you. We are regulars and I have always walked into here with welcome arms. They remember my family and inquire about how we are all doing. They know my son can't have gluten or dairy and make sure he doesn't get any. The sushi is sooooo tasty. The fish cut to perfection. The chefs can customize a roll for you or recommend one to suit your tastes. For a restaurant in a casino they are fantastic! They don't discriminate against kids and the sushi is amazing. Kind of a harsh review, I know. There are so many great restaurants in the Eldorado, I just don't understand how this one exists. Sushi Chefs... they generally smile and talk to the customers. Although we did not sit at the Sushi Bar this time, across the room I noticed that not one of the 3 Sushi Chef ever uttered a word or cracked a smile. And we were there for over an hours (because the service that is slow at the actual Sushi Bar, is even slower at the tables.) While our waitress was young and sweet and actually quite pleasant, she seemed not to have a clue. When they didn't have three of the a la cart items on the Sushi Menu, my friend was offered something of the Roxy menu. She opted for foie gras (we had to spell it for the waitress). As for the sushi... Meh... I've had better. Last night they were quite ricey. And the sauce that is usually on the upside down shrimp was barely visible. The Reno roll was falling apart and so much rice, it was hard to pick up... had to pick it apart to eat it. The only thing I really did like was the cucumber/cabbage salad. The Roxy on the other hand, is an outstanding restaurant with excellent food and excellent service (and I think they share the same kitchen for non-sushi or fried items). I have a feeling they may even be managed by the same manager (I'm guessing here... just seems that since they are so close it makes sense). Besides the point.. one is outstanding the other just meh! Too bad... I'll probably not eat sushi here again although I will go to Roxy, Roxy Happy Hour, The Oyster Bar.. all other excellent eateries at Eldorado. read more

Absolutely marvelous food! My family was hungry and tired after wandering the casinos looking for decent food without a huge line. We chose this place after noting the prices on the menu were reasonable. What a pleasant surprise to discover the sashimi was the best we've ever had, and the rolls were unique and amazing. I was especially entertained by my teenager having to say "G Spot" (the name of one of our rolls) several times out loud. Tee hee hee! Very happy with the service. When we arrived (Friday night 8:00pm) they told us there was no table for five available at the moment and the wait was indefinite. There were only a portion of restaurants open when I visited over July 12 - 17, 2020, and bars had just been closed back up, but I'm so glad this place was serving. Sushi Sake was open Tues - Saturday for dinner at the time of my trip. Molly, Khoun, and Winston made us all feel right at home and had us giggling with witty one liners the entire time. In addition to the service, the food was also excellent. It's such a bizarre time in the world, and it felt great to relax, laugh, eat well, and connect with such friendly staff. I highly recommend the Unagi if you're a fan. I ate it too fast to take a photo, but pictured are the Godzilla and G-Spot. I will definitely return my next trip to the Eldorado. read more

Sushi Saki is an average sushi joint. The menu was some what limited compared to other sushi joints in Reno. There was a small variety of nigiri, and there were too many rolls that had crystal shrimp. With all the competition in Reno a strong menu is important. With that being said, the rolls and nigiri that my boyfriend and I ordered were very fresh and yummy! I always get a Godzilla to compare sushi joints, and this was the best Godzilla I have ever had!! There was the perfect amount of crunch on the exterior and the inside ingredients were the right texture. Also, the spiciness was perfect--not too spicy. My boyfriend and I also liked the Jade Dragon a lot. The service was somewhat disappointing. Service was quick and friendly when we were first seated and ordered drinks, but after that things slowed down and we felt somewhat forgotten about. The place only has about 10 tables and only 3 had people eating at them. The food runner walked by our table twice with our first appetizer, then dropped it off on the third pass by. However, our mussels had never arrived. My boyfriend asked the server about it when we stopped her for a second order sheet. She was very apologetic and ran off to figure it out. When she returned with the mussels she told us that she didn't know who they were supposed to be for but they were ours now. When I ate one it was cold and hard. I couldn't more than two, and my boyfriend had to finish the rest. If service had remained strong throughout another star would have been added. As a side note the order sheet was photocopied with dark lines and it was difficult to read. This might be the reason why some of our appetizers and nigiri didn't arrive. read more

I have a love hate relationship with Sushi Saki -- I want to LOVE it but I have hate it! Located in the Eldorado Casino (in front of the steakhouse/downstairs from Roxy) it's a perfect location. #1 I live across the street #2 I game at ELD! AYCE sushi was a bit of a let down. They do some creative rolls but extremely ricey. The Basil Roll use to be the saving grace but the last one I ordered it; it was mostly rice and swimming in the spicy basil oil. It was more like soup the sushi. The service drives me nuts. I usually order a Siena wine. Lecture me later on red wine with fish. The wine usually arrives as I'm finishing my meal. Seriously, Siena wine is made by ELDORADO! Sushi nights are usually ladies' night on several occasions we were served by one chef then a group of men sit at the bar and the chefs change places. It feels like the 1970s when this happens. Due to the above I swore I would never go back. Saturday night my friend convinced me to try the a la carte menu. I'm sad to say it was no better. I knew we were in trouble when our drinks came out one at a time. Sure I could understand if we ordered wine, martinis and sake as they all come from different bars. Our order was - water, diet soda, iced tea. The food. One person had AYCE. Kudos the server did do the math to see which price was better AYCE verses a la carte. My order - poke salad and white rice. The poke salad was fresh and well seasoned. The rice arrived as I finished the salad. The hungry person ordered - shitito pepper, miso soup, tempura veg, 2 x tempura shrimp, soft shell crabs and a bowl of rice. After 20 minutes she asked for the soup as she was starving. The tempura veg & peppers came and first. It was probably another 15 minute before she was informed that they were out of soft cell crab. Ok she ordered tuna collar. A few minutes later the server came back to say no tuna and handed her the steakhouse menu. My friend ordered Foie Gras. The poor server has no idea what that was. I gave her a hint on how to place the order. The Foie arrived it was great! We asked the food runner about the tempura shrimp. He said he'd check but never returned. We found our server and she said, "oh I guess they 86ed it." We asked for the check. It took forever! We left a good tip. I can't figure out if it's a server issue or if it's just how the restaurant is run. I just can't stiff a server. I'm sure I'll go back because my friend is obsessed with the soft shell crabs and peppers but next time I'll make sure she calls to make sure it in stock. read more

Not bad for Reno! Don't get me wrong there are plenty of great places to eat in Reno, NV, but this one happens to be the freshest in the area if you are into Sashimi. Michael is the Sushi Chef here at this establishment and he is perhaps one of Reno's greatest. He uses fresh imported ingredients from countries like Taiwan and Japan. If you are a big fan of pure raw fish then you must order the Sashimi 6 or 12 pieces. This sushi joint also has an all you can eat, but you'll be missing out on the Sashimi pieces. I spent $40 for 2 Specialty Rolls, 6 piece Sashimi, and 1 order of the Unagi. Now that is what you call a great deal! Minus 1 start because its more of a bar setting and you can smell smoke cigarette smoke Yuck! But overall a great place if you're staying at the El Dorado. This hotel definitely has some great eats! We decided to go again tonight and found the fish to be amazing again. The rice was seasoned just right. I decided to order the Salmon Popper with habanero and the Volcano roll that includes habanero. All sushi restaurants need habaneros! I had the usual nigiri (hamachi, sake, maguro) and those long rolls. The finishing touch was a salmon skin hand. It wasn't just salmon skin, there was salmon on the salmon skin which is just the way I like it. Hold the teriyaki sauce if you want. I had no regrets. My go to sushi for sure. Not only that, but it was an all you can eat buffet for $18! Amazing. An AYCE in the Bay is $20 for dinner and is terrible quality all tough or fried, this was fresh as you can get and beautifully prepared. The Lobster Roll was AMAZING as were the stuffed crap appetizers and Miso Soup. The yellow tail and Unagi nagiri was also amazing and the salmon popper roll was SOOO good. This is my new favorite restaurant and I cry at the thought of it being 3 hours away. In short, EAT HERE. You won't regret it. Enjoyed our experience here. We had a friend take us here for dinner. The price is a little higher and like many people have said, the location isn't really ideal, but it is nice. Food quality was higher end. We liked the rolls we had but found ourselves pretty full quickly. So our experience is a little stilted. Usually we plan sushi to be ravenous and get our money's worth. We were seated in the "travel" area outside of Bistro Roxy. I don't usually sit away from the bar but someone else was paying, so my mouth stayed shut. I wouldn't sit here again and wouldn't recommend sitting there to anyone. The server was nice and playful, but it's just not what I look for in Sushi. Not that rice heavy, although our chef seemed to compress the nigir Chef wouldn't serve me single nigiris which I felt was frikkin weird for ayce. three stars for A-OK ... after our cirque paris show, we quickly headed over to this joint to see if they would honor our 50% off voucher from seeing the show. they allow you to use it for AYCE, so basically its buy one get one free. score there. AM glad we stopped here, because we alllllllways pass this place but its always busy and we just end up having a martini or two at roxy. it wasnt our favorite sushi, it seemed as if most of the rolls were very very similar to one another.. lots of crystal shrimp... i have to say i dont recall ever having crystal shrimp ... it WAS tasty.. just alot of the rolls seemed to have that. dont get me wrong , the sushi wasnt BAD, it just wasnt the best weve ever had. i will say i do like how the sushi bar is set up. each chef serves 4 chairs, which means quicker service. our chef was nice and had our rolls out in pretty timely fashion , so no complaints about the service! they have a limited appetizer menu, so we stuck with edamame. i still managed to smash 4 rolls plus my wifes leftovers lol. i started off with the catepillar, then moved to the eldorado(cause why not, we ARE at eldorado) , then to salmon popper, and to finish it off, the ceviche, which DAMN i thought was hot, but i have a weak tounge. i must say, we left FULL , so mission accomplished. we ended up sharing a green tea ice cream which helped mellow my tounge down. would i eat here again? probably not, only because i like to explore other sushi places. but we did love that we got to use our vouchers here. read more
