(Back) Mountain, (Front) Businessman- no avocado long rolls

We dropped by for lunch at King Sushi the other day and when we entered the restaurant, they were devoid of customers, so our 4-person party had our pick from any table in the restaurant. We chose a table near the window so we can people watch as we waited for our meal; the host immediately dropped off menu and drinks to our table, and picked up order sheets. Our appetizers soon appeared, pipping hot and fresh from the kitchen: fried calamari rings, baked mussels, Yakiton and fried potstickers. After a few minutes a few of our sushi orders starts arriving at our table. Everything looked delectable; all the sushi rolls and nigiris were expertly prepared and tasted delicious. Everyone at our table enjoyed every morsel of our meal, the service was friendly and attentive, plus the meal was reasonably priced. All in all, we had another positive dining experience at King Sushi.

A last minute decision was made after our first two choices were closed. My lunch buddy, Angela F made the brilliant suggestion that we try the new place on Lake street. It was a good choice. We ordered a variety of rolls under the AYCE plan. What was a definite thumbs up is most of the menu items were included in the AYCE. All of the rolls were good and it was an excellent balance of fish to rice - the fish portions were generous. Service was good and our waitress checked on our satisfaction. There were only a few diners in the restaurant so there was minimal wait time for our food. I would definitely come back again.

Been meaning to try this place for awhile. We were going to try the new Reno bar & Grill for my monthly luncheon with Nancy V. But they were closed. Then we thought we go to the Depot, and they were closed. So I remembered the site but forgot the name and even type of restaurant it was. Pleasantly surprised that it was sushi. And glad we went. We opted for AYCE. Their rolls were on the small side, but didn't matter as we were AYCE. The rice to fish ratio was great. Just enough rice to create a single mouth full per piece. Very little was excluded from the AYCE menu Don't think they serve alcohol or beer. I'll call next time and see if we can BYOB. But definitely want to go back again. Street parking only.

Got to try out this new sushi spot in downtown and had a great dinner! The staff were quick to find a table for my group and really friendly throughout the visit. The appetizers was nice, I recommend the angry bird for its crispy and juicy chicken pieces. The nigiri was good and there are many options for sushi rolls, my favorite menu item was the King Crown roll. If you find yourself in the area and able to park close by, I'd recommend giving King Sushi a chance!

    Cavernous seating area

Based on the reviews, my wife and I decided to try King Sushi. This is definitely one of those times that you shouldn't believe everything you read. Here's why: - The seating area is in a big cavernous room that's not comfy at all. The music is loud and beats right through your skull. - The sushi was OK, but the pictures make all the portions look way bigger than they are. I'd have to say that the sushi is slightly above supermarket, sushi grade. - There is no sushi bar and you don't get to see them making anything... It's all hidden away. - You might as well get the all you can eat sushi deal, because we almost spent that much with just al a carte. - Service was adequate. Bottom line: We were really in the mood for sushi so King Sushi worked, but we certainly don't have it on our list of restaurants to return to.

From the outside it looks a little sketchy but the food is great and the vibe is great as well! It was a close walk from the circus circus hotel. Definitely recommend! Only thing is that the bathrooms were dirty and toilets were clogged.

I don't trust a place where I don't see the sushi chefs making my order

Strange that they do not serve regular black iced tea. Tea is pretty good indicator of how authentic a place is and this spot only had sweetened raspberry. My conclusion: Knock off spot. Trying really hard to be like Toy - Kia sushi Sushi is the kind of cuisine I really dig to get down on. I especially like AYCE places. But this spot is definitely lacking in a few areas. Freshness The spicy tuna was peppery and even quite smoky. Interesting, but it also had a distinct fishy finish. The salmon was alright, the yellowtail was a bit discolored and kinda scared me off. The crazy tuna roll was good, Oddity I ordered on a sheet of paper. Like I've done a thousand times before. Yet somehow my orders seemed to keep being wrong. I ordered miso soup, and potstickers came out. I ordered a Bahia roll and a rainbow roll came out. I was perplexed. I asked if they could double check my order. They said it was what I ordered. Then I asked to see my paper on which I placed my order, the server said it had been disposed of. With only two other patrons in the place. I thought they were messing with me. One mistake,,, maybe a random error but two? I mean I'm not a complete idiot. Clearly something was off. Value: At 35 bucks and change with tax, it's not necessarily what I'd call a steal of value. The fact that wrong items kept coming out, is just creepy. I probably am not going to recommend this place but I'm just going to write this today and probably try an a la carte order next time.

    Mold on the udon

My experience couldnt have gone worse. Visiting here for a day while staying a block away at the Renaissance hotel, we decided to give this place a try. Upon entering the place was relatively empty. After being seated it took a while for someone to take our order. As we sat, we began over hearing a conversation in the kitchen from what we later learned seemed to be the local health inspector. The health inspector was going saying that gloves were not being used, and they had no place to wash their hands. Hoping that things couldn't get worse while the health inspector is there, we decided to stay. We ordered udon and 2 sushi rolls. After eating part of the udon, we noticed black stuff on the udon, for what can only be described as mold. We quickly got out of there -- while the waiter asked if we wanted our check. UMM, NO. As we were leaving, the health inspector was telling them they must close because of lack of places for them to wash their hands. AVOID

I love having a sushi place in downtown Reno. I have been here 3 times now and every time I leave satisfied. I get the all you can eat and I feel like it's a good value. The miso soup is delicious. Edamame is perfect. They are quick with your order and I appreciate that! I see comments on here that you can't watch them but I've been to other restaurants where I don't watch them prepare the food so that's not high on my list. I have been to highly recommended sushi places in Reno and it took a good hour to get my order so I love that King Sushi is fast and tasty! The rolls are smaller but the flavor is very good and in the long run that's what counts. We are in the desert so I am realistic about what to expect for sushi. I've really enjoyed being able to try all the rolls. The presentation is wonderful. They have a sweet dessert roll with strawberries and cream and it was so good! As far as the building, yes it's right downtown. There are parking meters that are free after 6pm I believe. Walking distance to the ballpark. The bridge behind it overlooks the Truckee River and is a great picture spot. But, there are the typical downtown issues. Inside it looks good but It would be nice to have some ambiance added like a fake fireplace or something like that. Either way I plan to go again soon! I genuinely hope they have great success as there are some hard working people that work there!

First off, huge shoutout to the staff at both locations. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. We had a group of about 12 showing up and ordering at different times, plus another large party there, and they handled it all really well. The patio has such a great Midtown vibe, and I'm always happy supporting local small businesses. We ordered a little bit of everything: ribeye gorditas with homemade tortillas, street tacos, quesadillas, loaded papas, elote, and I even attempted the AYCE tacos. The carnitas was some of my favorite in town, the guac was delicious, and my friend loved the skirt steak tacos. Plus, the three salsas they serve are all so good. Tacos are always subjective, but I'd absolutely recommend giving Ana's a try because there's something for everyone on the menu. The cocktails are fun too, and I'll definitely be back.

Upon walking in,I was impressed with the patrons, this was a no frills crowd who looked like they were all in on a secret that this place was going to be a really good foodie spot. This is one of those spots where u walk up and order at the counter and they bring your food out to you.I loved the decor as you can really tell the owners are proud of their Jalisco roots. As an added bonus-I do tend to like taquerias that have pics of the menu items on the walls-always been a good luck charm for me that the place would be pretty good. We ordered a few things-A Super Burrito with Al Pastor($13.50)-it was pretty tasty-way way filling-killed my buzz totally-which I guess was the goal-I'd order it again for sure.We Also got a Shrimp taco($5)My wife is from Jalisco,so kinda picky with her Mexican food but she thought it was pretty tasty-one of the most flavorful tacos she has had in a long time.We also got the 2 enchilada plate with ground beef and chicken($15.50)-This dish came with rice and bean-I really liked the rice quite a bit and beans went well with the chips because of the added cheese on the beans. One thing I didn't love was the fact that you had to pay for chips and salsa-I'm sure I'm just spoiled from all the places that gives those out for free but I guess that's the way it goes-pretty sure it was like $3-no biggie. In closing-if u ever find yourself in Reno and u want something other than the commercial stuff they sell in the casinos-I would highly recommend walking across the street from Silver Legacy and walk into this little hole in the wall hidden gem of a restaurant and enjoy yourself a taste of Jalisco -you won't be disappointed.
