Food: Ginger (4/5): The thick cut ginger was good, a nice change from the thin shredded kind. Sake Nigiri (2/5): Two smaller pieces of salmon. The rice was fine but nothing special. It tasted fine but I wouldn't order it again. Rocky Roll (4/5): I really liked this one. The salmon on top with the masago was great and the avocado in the center made it creamy. I would definitely get this again. Miso Soup (3/5): Good. It had big square pieces of seaweed instead of the usual small strips, which was different but I liked it. Veggie Roll (2/5): Disappointing. It had avocado, cucumber, and lettuce but way too much rice and barely any lettuce. Salmon Skin Roll (4/5): Came with avocado and cucumber inside and sesame seeds on the outside. The menu said green onions but they weren't there, but the roll still tasted good and I would order it again. Overall I would go back for the 4 out of 5 rolls and just skip the veggie roll and the plain nigiri next time. Service (3/5): Service was okay, nothing great and nothing terrible. A lot has changed recently at Sushi Sapporo. They are severely understaffed to the point we could not get service for majority of our visit. It feels as if their focus has shifted toward delivery/to go orders and their dine in guests are a second thought. Probably will no longer return unless I'm ordering delivery. read more

Listening to the owner mom and son nag each other was the entertainment of the night. The bed-haired guy looked like he just woke up and sluggishly skidding his slippers around the booths magnified his apathetic effort waiting on tables. Not the best look for a dinner spot. The automated rice rolling machine was humorous watching the staff watch the rice. The slow rate of production speed of the device did not seem to be efficient vs. hand rolled as most places pay staff to do. As most folks know, conveyor belt sushi can be hit or miss. I have a few favorite places around town that I frequent, but I like to change things up once in a while and try something new. I figured Sushi Sapporo would be a wildcard as it's located in an oft-ignored corner near Mall 205. I'm happy to say I was pleasantly surprised by the food and service. They were busy, but seemed to manage to attend customers and keep the conveyor belt stocked just fine. I was pleased with the poke salad, the spicy tuna roll, seared salmon, and unagi I ordered on my first visit. I've returned several times to try additional dishes, including their seafood ramen. The ramen has a bit of spice, and includes several pieces of tempura veggies, shrimp, mussels, and nori. It was far from the best ramen I've ever had, but it was delicious and hit the spot! It's quick and convenient and you can't beat the price. The wait staff and kitchen crew fly very much under the radar... it's a very quiet restaurant considering the high volume of food they produce each day. It may take you a moment to flag someone down, but if you do I've found them to be very helpful. There is a very low-key vibe here. The fellow who runs the cash register is a bit more animated as he occasionally makes jokes and friendly banter. If you're looking for quick, convenient, delicious food for a good price, Sushi Sapporo fits the bill. read more

Picture it. Tualatin 2015. I'm at my favorite sushi belt restaurant. The cheap ones are $1.50 and top out at 2.40. The rolls are abundant and delicious. It was a good time for sure. Fast forward to 2023 my favorite places are either closed or serving substandard smaller more expensive sushi. It is a dark time. This place takes me back though. I have resigned that the 1.50 days are over but at a higher price this place has the same proportions and ingredients. Everything has crab salad so I appreciate that it has a good texture and flavor. Short version: I waited 40 minutes for 13 pieces of sushi (not rolls, Nigiri). The creamy scallops weren't edible; literally tasted like sweet Mayo & ketchup (and looked like it too) absolutely gross. The fish was very thinly cut with hardly any rice & so poorly made that they fell apart (the sushi rice) before I could get it into my mouth & lost several pieces in my lap. Hard to believe, but they even screwed up the seaweed wrapped around the creamy scallops & masago- they didn't seal/hold & as soon as I removed 1 from the pack w/ my chopsticks the seaweed unraveled & the contents spilled out. I don't have a single positive thing to say about my order, everything that could go wrong did & in the end I waited 40 minutes for it & paid almost $50. I'm angry, hungry & out almost $50 for completely unacceptable service and food. Long version: Placed my order shortly after 6pm, the place was not full & plenty of staff- but I watched a ton of prep being done while my order languished. At the 30 minute mark of waiting I asked where my order was seeing many many others served & it was just excuses. In the end, I waited 40 minutes for 13 pieces of sushi (no rolls, just Nigiri). They made the creamy scallop mix/sauce on the spot (oddly not prepped) and it was terrible/inedible. The fish (salmon, ahi & white) was cut very thin (about half the thickness of anywhere else I've been) and also super skimpy on the rice itself too + the sushi rice was not at all sticky & it literally fell apart before I could get the Nigiri into my mouth, several pieces lost from landing in my lap- so I had to get a spoon to scoop up & eat, then try to carefully pour the tamari atop each piece. I will be calling tomorrow to ask for a refund, we'll see if they acknowledge their utter failure, given the excuses I got, I don't have much confidence. read more

We love Sapporo- repeat customers here lol! First of all, their facility is so clean and their staff members are SUPER friendly and attentive. They have fresh sushi, it's so delicious. They also have other entrees on the menu as well for those who cannot or do not eat sushi. For instance, they have spicy miso ramen, good flavor and they are not skimpy for the price either! Also, another hit with us is their chicken karage (fried chicken). It's so moist and full of flavor with just the right amount of crunch. I know I said a couple of weeks ago I had the best sushi ever at Chai Thai but that was before I knew about this place. It's a little drive from my boyfriends house, over across the street from Mall 205. When you go in you can sit at the counter and eat conveyor belt style service or order to go. We got ours to go and went back to my car and waited for them to call and tell us it was ready. We had been waiting for about 15 minutes and I was asking my boyfriend if he thought they forgot about us. So he went in to check and came right back with our order. We got it home and opened it up. Everything looked great. I was a little disappointed that the seaweed salad was put in the same container as the rest of the sushi. I had expected it to come separately like the calamari. Let me tell you about the calamari. To date, this is the best calamari I've ever had. There's no breading it's fried for I can't even guess how many seconds, not many. It's tender, not rubbery. It's perfect. The seaweed salad is one of my favorite things ever. So fresh, tasted just like the ocean. The rest of the order was excellent too. I wish I had paid more attention to what else we ordered but I was too blown away by the calamari and the seaweed salad. I love conveyer sushi belts. They're fun, cheap and convenient. We came here around 7:30pm on a Friday and waited for something we wanted to come around the belt. However the selection wasn't that great, just the same 3-4 rolls over and over. Our server kept coming up to us to ask if everything is okay (about every 10 minutes) which cued us that maybe this is more of a make-to-order sushi belt. They have a big menu of different rolls, so we tried a few and they were actually really good. It's hard to go wrong with seared salmon nigiri but it was super yummy here.
