We had to track down a server every time we needed anything, including ordering, getting sauce, and checking out. They didn't have any music playing so the only ambiance was listening to the employees talk to each other while they made sushi. We went at 5:00pm on a Sunday for an early dinner after swimming all afternoon and the selection of belt sushi was very slim (although we could see they were making more). My mom ordered Hibachi Chicken and asked for fried rice, which wasn't an option and then the veggies were raw. Overall, this was honestly the worst restaurant experience we have had since moving to the PNW two years ago. read more

Hands down my favorite sushi joint. The service is great! The foods amazing! Happy hour prices all day! The tsunami roll is my all time favorite here, and the salmon nigiri is delicious. Local joint in an assuming location. Decor ~ falling apart wallpaper gives a shabby feel. Old furniture. Service was not the most communicative personalities but no offense taken as the staff was all pitching in to help any customer. The sushi ~ same basic components in the different rolls just rearranged. Cheap in price but mostly California roll variations. The downfall ~ they need to clean up and organize. The visible grime all over especially inside the sushi prep station is not appetizing. The a peek into the kitchen was disgusting. We ordered Gen Sushi online to be delivered by Uber Eats. The food arrived on-time and Uber Eats was great! When I opened the bag there were NO chopsticks, NO napkins, NO soy sauce and NO utensils. I called Gen Sushi to ask why they did not include soy sauce. Soy sauce has ALWAYS arrived with our sushi. I asked to speak to the manager and the male on the other end of the phone said he was the manager. I started to explain what happened and he immediately said without letting me speak. "I am too busy, NO time to talk" and hung up on me!!!! I had to eat the sushi without any soy sauce...not good, not right! I can only hope they are too busy to be gracious to all of their customers and are soon out-of-business. We will NEVER order from Gen Sushi again....They are WAY TOO BUSY to need my business. read more

The best part of Gen Sushi has to be their happy hour--it's a great deal that makes the experience more enticing. I stopped by for lunch with a friend before a thrifting outing, and while it's still a revolving sushi spot, the food was pretty solid for what it is. The salmon nigiri was fresh and satisfying, as always, and a go-to for me at any sushi place. One odd thing was they didn't have any lemon, which would've been nice for the salmon kama. That aside, the pricing and variety make it a good casual option, especially if you're looking for something quick and affordable with good service. First of all, I don't know why the employees have to yell when they speak to one another from across the room. The waiter continued to speak so loud to another employee while standing over me. We sat down and noticed slabs of frozen salmon defrosting on the freezer in clear view. You can't defrost fish like that! Also, the rag on the cutting board was always there. Service is good, ambience fun and easy to navigate around. Food quality is average to below average. Enjoyed the salmon nigiri, saba was okay, a little dry, creamy scallop wasn't very good at all, way too much cream, made it too overwhelming to eat. Spicy tuna was decent but not spicy at all. Escolar was okay...tasted a bit fishy. The miso was good. A little salty but warming. Ikura was poorly made. I understand the cost of ikura is high, instead of putting a thin layer of ikura eggs on a thick clump of rice, just serve it as one piece instead. See my photos and videos. Also the rice portioning for everything was way too much vs the fish ratio. It should be half the amount of rice that they had put on. It's a decent affordable sushi spot for basic specialty rolls, but for other traditional nigiri and cuts, I don't recommend them besides the salmon. The hot tea was good, hojicha. Also they don't greet or say goodbye like I typically see in other sushi restaurants, which is not a big deal. read more

I ordered at the kiosk inside the restaurant. The food tasted decent but... the portions are tiny if you get takeaway instead of dine in. I have dined in previously and the sizes were larger but when I got my takeaway order today they were tiny. I ended up spending about $20 for something that could only fill my toddler. read more

Its next to chipotle, and my kids are over chipotle haha, so we like to make sure we come here and grab some quick rolls and those sesame balls. They have some daily specials on the door (not so daily, more like always specials) basically two rolls and a drink for 8.50-14ish... and its well worth it and quite a good deal. Now grade this verse other places on the conveyer belt circuit, dont be talking about 'that one authentic place' if it has rice on the out side of the roll, and you want to eat ginger as a topping, realize it is what it is, and its good. I did the rolls, I go rainbow, those pocket sushi, and other basic rolls and they are always fresh and good, but nothing straight out of the fish market of Japan, but damn it fits the bill for a great mid day munch! read more

Love Gens! Their happy hour is dope! Happy hour is all day on Sundays too! $2.95 for all plates of all colors. How can you compete? The sushi chefs are always willing to make you something if you don't see it on the conveyor belt, but usually it's stacked. Waitresses are nice and gave us space which I appreciate. We were so glad to see a sushi place close by to where we stay when we visit the area. The restaurant was very clean and shiny. The employees were very helpful and cordial. The sushi is a go-around (and the best go-around so far in this town). You can ask for other items of course which they will gladly make for you. As pretty typical, the color of the plates match with the prices. Of course it's not like a favorite place of ours nearby because after all there are differences between ordering off a menu vs. a go-around but you can't beat the price or how fast you can grab your plates off the carousal. The egg & Philadelphia roll were so bad I couldn't eat them. The egg had a previously frozen texture & the salmon in the Philly seemed off. The scallops were very disappointing. The seaweed is too short for a boat & it's so saucy it's really hard to eat. The other rolls were pretty underwhelming too but I ate them.. it's been an hour or two since I ate & my stomach does not feel good so I kinda regret eating any of it. This place started business mid-covid and has finally become accessible for sit down. It has a double conveyer system and it's clean and priced reasonably. The food is exceptionally better than Sushiville and unlike Sushiville, they answer the phone and fill orders correctly. I think this is the best sushi option in the area. The service is wonderful, the staff is bright and kind and they have a great menu. I highly recommend this place. read more
