Love this place, other than parking being really challenging. Great service, very friendly attentive staff. We were there at dinner (5:30pm) on a weekday, so we ordered from the happy hour menu. Our food came out really fast (great!) and everything tasted great. Presentation of every plate was photo-worthy. The menu has many unique choices. Not your"typical" sushi joint.

Fine place and day for celebration. They were packed and busy, but the quality and appearance of the food didn't suffer. Sat outside. Friendly service. The rolls taste as fine as they look. And who wouldn't want a pint of Lucy in the Vortex with Diamonds. And cost a little les than i had anticipated.

HH marvelous for Montvilla. Grungy vibe inside, opt for outside seating if nice weather permitting. Nothing about this place feels like a sushi bar...which is interesting? Great starter is the HH Monkey Brain for $7. Pass on simple gyoza. Rice texture just ok. Roll prices are cheaper than most sushi spots. The bonus is the draft beer selection you can drink from next door at Roscoe's. Most do not pair with raw fish, but if you enjoy craft beer, Roscoe's has a respectable tap rotation when Asian beer is not your thing. Service laid back & friendly like you are a regular. Miyamoto is an American bar great for the neighborhood.

This place is packed with locals who know where good sushi is served! We do not have a reservation but were seated promptly and give. ice water with cucumber, which was a nice touch. We knew we wanted monkey brain for an appetizer because it was the most popular item on the menu and sounded amazing. It did not disappoint! We should have ordered two as the kids inhaled it! Then came our rolls which were really good size! I dont usually order spicy so I went with the Black Tiger which was more of a sweet and savory roll. It was delicious! Parking was tough but well worth the visit and will definitely be returning!

Poor service. Quoted 15-20 minutes wait for a party of 4 people on a Monday evening but ended up waiting 30. Staff took excessively long to clean and set our table. The table they sat us at was open for at least 5 minutes before anyone came to seat us. The wait for food was long. The server was inattentive, often talking to co-workers. My water glass was left empty for the duration of dinner until the server refilled it at the end. The edamame was mushy and tasted like it was microwaved too long. The sushi was okay but not worth the price.

Miyamoto sushi -Rice to meet you! This catapulted itself really fast into one of my favorite sushi places in town. We came in on Labor day and mostly picked them because they were one of the few places open. The staff was warm and welcoming and we got to order as soon as we were ready. we got Monkey brains -5/5 Chef`s choice -5/5 Salmon Roe and Hokkaido scallops -5/5 Basically everything that came out of the kitchen was a masterpiece and I can't seem to find a single thing that didn't taste fantastic including the sake they recommended. Space isn't too big to accommodate many at the same time and it could potentially be the reason for the long wait times. The staff was an absolute delight and went over and beyond to make it a good dine-in experience for us . The cherry on the cake is that the prices aren't exorbitant and reflect the quality of food they provide .

My 2nd visit here and it did not disappoint. Fresh sushi, creative and tasty rolls, great drinks, and friendly staff. Crab sunomono is a must for apps! Will definitely return to try more specialty rolls.

Miyamoto Sushi doesn't look like a sushi restaurant, but it definitely delivers where it counts! The staff is very friendly, competent, and patient, and know their wares very well. Our waitress happily made recommendations, and they didn't disappoint. I was especially appreciative of their unique preparation of the hamachi kama. They score several cuts in it, and marinate it some sort of citrus marinade. I LOVE hamachi kama, and Miyamoto's preparation is outstanding. Another unexpectedly great item, and probably what I enjoyed the most, was the "Tokyo Tea" beverage. It is a magical non-alcoholic fizzy tea beverage with Yuzu and other flavors. I find myself wanting to come back here just for the Tokyo Tea. I was also very appreciative of the availability of shumai. Nigiri has larger pieces of fish than most, which isn't necessarily a good thing because the balance of fish to rice when executed perfectly is magical. Rolls were more of a hit-and-miss affair...none were bad, but a few of our choices seemed a bit odd in their ingredient selection. Prices are moderate, and portion sizes are good (no gimmicky giant rolls, and no tiny rolls). Parking can be a challenge because it is all street parking, and the area is generally very busy.

Decent sushi for the neighborhood. Miyamoto is cozy and welcoming and the service was really great. There were 6 of us and we got seated pretty quick on a Saturday evening. Each of us ordered a speciality roll and a hand or cut roll and it was plenty of food. Portions are pretty big here and the quality is there. Prices were fair and I'd come back when in town.

Draft IPA from Roscoes next door. Food: hamachi roll, monkey brain, mixed tempura- all $7 each ( Happy Hour)

Love their Happy hour - not a huge selection but price is right for delicious food that is exactly the same as regular menu but discounted during happy hour- We can stop in for a quick meal and continue on in our afternoon chores... nice outdoor tables ... great service ( you can order bevs from the bar next door too)

This little gem has been here for some time and this was not our first visit. It was just such a nice happy hour at the counter experience. The food was great and the service matched it. Just go and enjoy as we have and did once again.

By far the BEST sushi in Portland.... Amazing food and service was spot on. Ice cold beer from a brewery next door. Miyamoto is a must try when in the Portland area. The Hungry Hardhat has spoken. So let it be written... So let it be EATEN.

Ask the Community - Miyamoto Sushi

Does Miyamoto have a full bar? Do they only serve sake cocktails or do they serve martinis, too?

When I was there last month their drink menu was sake, sake cocktails, beer and wine.

Since it's a bar do I need to be above 21 to enter?? Or I can just go there and order food normally?

Only no minors in Roscoe's, if you're ordering sushi from that side. The restaurant is adjacent, on SE 81st, just North of the street corner. The entrance is fairly inconspicuous, but minors are allowed.…

The decor and atmosphere in here is wonderful, but I feel like everything else was average or left for desiring. I'm not sure if it was because they had one server or that there was a second that just went on break, but it took a while to put our order in. We sat for roughly 12-15 minutes after being given water and menus to see the server again to put our order in. There was approximately 5-6 tables, mostly 2-tops and none seemed to be overly needy. We both ordered ramen and got the takiyaki as an appetizer. The takiyaki was ok, the flavor seemed to have been dialed back but ok, maybe it was just me or something. There were 5 or 6 pieces, when I got it from other places in the past, it's roughly a dozen, but once again, times a tough right now, so ok. Then I get my ramen, the Tomo ramen, the dish with the same name as the restaurant. It advertises to have quail eggs and some other fun stuff in it on the menu. Nope, no eggs, barely any grilled pork, mostly just the ground pork, noodles, and broth. I was disappointed to say the least. The server took some time to come check up on how everything was tasting and at that point, I just wanted to leave. She seemed nice enough, maybe having a bad night, maybe the cook was as well. We don't go out often now because times are tight, but this was disappointing. Really was hoping for something to be at least pretty good.

I was looking for food nearby and came across this restaurant. The food was surprisingly delicious! We ordered the chicken katsu curry, kama-age udon (hokkai miso soup), and the kama-meshi seafood. The chicken katsu was cooked perfectly: crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside! The sauce also was the perfect texture and taste. My favorite was the kama-age udon with the hokkai miso soup. I love udon but sometimes don't like how thick it is because it fills you up faster and is harder to digest, the udon here is thinner which I fell in love with! It's soft and chewy and the perfect thickness: you dip it on the soup when you eat it. I also loved the soup, I usually have leftover soup when eat noodles, but I finished every last sip! Definitely recommend this dish if you were to only order one item! We also ordered the kama-meshi seafood. I thought this one tasted okay! The flavors of the seafood come through, but I personally like stronger and heavier flavors. It was worth a try! Parking: This restaurant is in downtown portland so it was difficult to find parking. We ended up parking at a nearby garage and paid for parking. They do have a few street parking spots near the restaurant if you want to test your luck! Seating and service: We were seated really quickly as we went on a weekday! They have several tables and a large table that can be reserved as well as bar spots. The restaurant overall looks really nice and is pretty spacious. The servers were really nice and fast to get you what you need! A side note: they have heated toilet seats in their restroom so that's always a plus!
