Sushi Sawa is amazing! My new favorite sushi joint in town! I immediately loved the inside decor (especially the wooden details) because the owner of the store worked on it himself! The owner, his fellow chef, and his wife were very cordial, and made my boyfriend and I feel very welcomed. It was a great meal made even better by fun conversation :-) We ordered the Zen Roll and the Salmon Crunch Roll-- both were delicious and at a reasonable price. I loved the balance of flavors in the Zen Roll, and the extra crunchiness in the salmon roll. I can't wait to go back and try more of their fresh and delicious sushi :-) They also offer a really cute Mochi dessert. Definitely want to try that too the next time around! Definitely a hidden gem that I hope gets more popular with the new metro station. Everything was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. The service was gray too. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and want to come bak. They had helpful suggestions and even gave extra attention and treats to my young daughter. First time here, impressed with menu prices seemed reasonable ordered the Aloha Roll & Sashimi plate. Only 1 of us got Miso Soup, apparently it's only included with certain items and not standard for everyone like most sushi spots. You also don't get a small cup of Edamame like most other places. Roll came first, needless to say I was in shock of how small it was. It was so small that 2 cut pcs were equivalent to 1 on a normal sushi roll. The roll was definitely not worth $11.95??? The service was super good! It was my first time here. Love the selection. They had an amazing roll with everything I wanted. Spicy albacore and jalapeño. It was delicious! They also offered miso on the house. They use the white ginger which I love. They offered my extra sauce on my radish salad that came with the roll. Overall great! read more

I ordered the salmon nigiri, the tuna cut roll, the salmon skin hand roll, ankimo sashimi, and the salmon collar. The salmon nigiri was better than most I have had in the past but it was wet (maybe from defrosting). The tuna roll was good. The sushi rice isn't the best, can barely taste the vinegar. Oh boy, the salmon skin hand roll. Uh, I can just sum up the salmon skin hand roll as "not good". The ankimo sashimi was good, although I am wondering what type of sauce they serve it with. This place is definitely a gem! The food here is very good. From the nigiri sushi to the rolls, you can't go wrong with anything here. My favorite is definitely the Star Wars roll, granted the name is what drew me to order it. But the soft shell, along with the the crab meat and gobo, definitely made the roll extremely tasty. Horrible customer service. Sat there for about 20 minutes waiting for them to take our order. They served everyone around us, even went back to the same people numerous times. We even made eye contact with the servers to let them know were were ready to order. Only for them to just look away and serve those who already had food when we walked in. As for their sushi I will not comment on due to the fact that we left from lack of customer service. So, do not let this discourage you from ordering because their chefs maybe really amazing but as for their staff who wait on the customers not so good. read more

Wow... I have been to many sushi restaurants throughout my life, and this outperforms every single one of them! As soon as we walked in, we felt very welcomed by the chill atmosphere and the pleasant service. Prices are a bit higher than I'd like to pay, and portions are rather small, but the taste and quality of the fish completely makes up for it! I've never tasted sushi this fresh in my life. We ordered a lot of things, but the Superman burrito was the winner in my book. Everything else was just as tasty and fresh! One thing I do want to mention, however, is that the menu isn't very descriptive of what's on the food. For example, the Superman burrito had egg in it, even though egg was not listed in its description on the menu. I would like to say that this was good sushi and a great experience. But I can't . Because the rude as hell hostess would not seat me and my 3 year old - who is a well behaved sushi fanatic BTW - at the sushi bar. I asked to be seated at the sushi bar on a not busy evening and the hostess immediately threw the nastiest sour face and said we could not sit there. I asked if it was because of my daughters age and the old sourpuss just kept saying "no sushi bar for her". Ordered to-go for a nice family dinner at home. The quality for sashimi is not the best, but it's pretty much what I'd expect from a small restaurant like this. The California roll and crunchy roll were good, but you can't really mess those up. I liked that the meal came with a small side salad. The eel wasn't the best, it was cold and chewy.
