This place serves very tasty food. I'm addicted to the honey walnut shrimp and curry fired rice. It's always fresh and delicious. What I also like is that they serve a variety of Asian foods, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese etc so whichever you're In the mood they got you. I really wanted to love Couwami Asian Fusion! The small, family run restaurant cozily braided into a strip mall one block south of the 210 FWY on Azusa had piqued my interest when I'd ferried an Uber Eats order from there on SAT. Interest captured by the vivid scents wafting from the kitchen and the mostly positive Yelp reviews, I boomeranged back 24 hrs later to place my maiden order. I went with Shanghai Egg Rolls and the Yang Chow Fried Rice, but I'd asked them to substitute more chicken and Chinese sausage for the shrimp, as your favorite Yelp correspondent has never enjoyed shrimp in any form other than cocktails. The staff is exceedingly nice!!! Owner/proprietor JOSEPH and his wife skate around as balls of determined energy, but with welcoming smiles affixed to their faces. The prices are pretty reasonable- My tab for a generous multi-protein entree and appetizer was $19.34 including taxes. But can we please have a conversation about the flavors? Couwami partisans! Tell me-- Did your faithful correspondent order the wrong items?! My Shanghai Egg Rolls were undercooked, limp and flaccid. The flavors were solid but the texture was so off-putting and uncharacteristic for a typical egg rolls, that I could barely get them down. The Yang Chow Fried Rice was also undercooked- I'm used to fried rice that has a toasted, beigy-yellow finish with chicken or pork cooked to at least medium to medium well doneness. My entree was, as the picture attest, a faint ivory hue and I actually hadta toss it in my skillet for five minutes to toast up the rice and finish cooking the tendrils of chicken, which were served medium rare, a micro-degree above pink but with the unpleasant mouth feel of sushi. Not exactly the way you'd expect your proteins to be prepared! I'm a huge believer in redemption. And judging by the hundreds of 4.2 level reviews on Yelp, I suppose its possible I just caught the cook on a bad night or ordered the WDT (Wrong Damn Thing)...twice! I'd normally accord two stars but will bump this up to three based on the utter civility and decency that Joseph and his staff extended to me. read more

Absolutely delicious! Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The beef noodle soup was rich and comforting with tender meat and perfectly cooked noodles. The crispy basil shrimp dish had an amazing crunch and seasoning. The rice was fluffy, and the Thai tea complemented everything perfectly. I stopped by recently for a birthday lunch with a party of 6. The restaurant is nice and large with plenty of seating for large parties. They have a check-in desk area in the front, which leads to the dining area. The vibe is friendly and family-oriented. We were seated and brought waters. The waitress was amazing. Aside from taking care of our party, she took care of the other parties' dining. She took our orders, brought our food out when it was ready, and checked in on us to see how everything was tasting. Everyone enjoyed their food. I got the beef asparagus lunch special. The portion was generous, good enough for 2 servings. The beef was very tender, and veggies were cooked well. Restaurant was very clean, tables were organized and well stocked with condiments and access to the parking lot was very convenient as it is located on Azusa Ave, just south of the 210 freeway. I was disappointed when I heard that the original location was closed, but was pleasantly surprised to go to their new location right in front of the In and Out. the plates I have tried from this place have all been vegan and have all been really good. I definitely recommend it for both vegans and non-vegans as they have a lot of variety. They have tofu and gluten "chicken" for the vegans, which is really good with the vegan sauces. Their veggies also taste amazing. The food takes a little while to be prepared because it is done once you order it and it is very hot, which I like. The seating area inside the new location is not a lot, but it is decent and comfortable if one wants to dine in. I will definitely be returning now that I know they have a new location. read more

I ordered the following: Vietnamese spring rolls: It was very yummy,it has shrimp ,cucumbers and vermicelli and comes with the sauce Couwami rice: My Goodness! It was very savory and delicious! The rice has fried chicken breast,shrimp and BBQ pork with raisins and scallion all wrapped in a very thin layer of egg. I really enjoyed this order Chicken kung pao: It was really good. It has fried chicken with bell peppers, onions peanuts mixed with sauce. Seafood combo: The taste was so indescribable! The combo had everything in it! Calamari, squid, shrimp, imitation crabs, fish,mushrooms, broccoli, thin slices of carrots, onions, cabbage. It took around 20 minutes to get my orders ready. The restaurant located in S. I am so sorry but my meal was a big no no. I ordered a chicken curry lunch special for about $12 and it was terrible. The rice and salad itself were fine but the chicken tasted so weird and rubbery, I hated it. I don't know if it was overcooked or what but it didn't taste like the traditional chicken curry I've had before. I definitely would not buy again. So after tryna find some Healthy food on the maps this spot popped up so I then obviously went to Yelp right away and if it wasn't for a fellow Yelp elite member my man Alex I probably would've skipped passed it but his review helped so I decided to go and it's definitely in the "cut" like you wouldn't see it going down Azusa nor North , I've seen that old motel so many times and never even notice this restaurant right next to it , so we started it with miso soup then went along with the rest I noticed they food is like for 4/5 people easily when ordering so we had a lot left over which helped because my father in law enjoyed it . The green beans man were they good , and the vegetarian Kung Pai Chicken was amazing ! The fried rice was good as well I seen Alex post it and thought it was pretty unique so I ordered it had well over half left over as well. We got a spread of the following items: * Honey walnut shrimp ($14.50) * Orange chicken ($9.50) * Couwami fried rice ($10.95) * Vietnam egg roll ($6.95) The fried rice definitely caught our eye when we opened the box because it's covered in a light layer of egg, sorta like a Japanese rice omelet. True to what some other Yelpers found, their dishes were more on the saltier side. It would really balance out if you enjoy the dishes with steamed rice versus the fried rice that we paired it with (maybe that's why we get double doses of the strong flavor). We were hungry and was about to get some In N Out, but the line was ridiculous. This place was across the street. Small little hole in the wall. The lady that helped me was extremely sweet, and very helpful. The food was absolutely delicious! I ordered the chow fund, beef fried noodles, kung pow chicken, fried chicken wings with chili basil, and the house fried rice. The flavors of everything was excellent, except for the fried rice was just okay, it was kind of bland. I really enjoyed the food, and it was not expensive at all. You could buy 60-80$ worth of food for take out and they won't want to give you condiments at the most 2!!! Came here last night hungry with my wife and son and they never disappoint! We come here so much, they treat us like family and somehow already know what we're going to order, lol! And yes, this is our comfort restaurant because I've never found an Asian restaurant that has topped thus yet, haha! I never described this joint on my other reviews, so there's plenty of parking, plenty of tables, spacious and clean. There's an area outside behind the wall tv I guess you could consider that an outside dining. Bathrooms were renovated and clean. Yes you could turn it into a romantic date or a group event. As you enter, Sharon or the owner Vanny would warmly greet you and get you seated right away followed by the menus and plates. Staff are very friendly and attentive. You start ordering and Sharon used to memorize what you order but stopped doing that before the pandemic. They always impress me with their fast service. I started with my favorite lychee green tea, not too sweet just right and I use my drink to wash down the food and refreshen my palates for the next dish. Hot and sour soup is our usual to warm up our bellies and prepare for the next delicious dish. Then came the Hong Kong pan fried noodles which is comfort food for us. Then came the combo seafood platter which came sizzling. Their orange beef was crunchy but tender, which was my wife's favorite. And always lastly, the Couwami's Signature fried rice.
