I went to Sushi Spot today. And me and my Jewish friend were eating. And we weren't done. She was still drinking her drink. A man wanted to sit down. Sometimes people come and there aren't tables. And people have to wait for a table. But instead of the guy waiting. The non-Jewish worker comes to our table and tells us he has to sit with us. And I tell the non-Jewish guy we are not done. And we don't want anyone sitting with us. But he insists. Anyways so the Jewish guy forces his way over to sit down with us. It was a very crowded small area. And my friend feels totally uncomfortable moves her chair totally away from him moving it into the garbage can/ wall literally. But she is just trying to move away from this guy. And like a second later we just are like forget like let's just get up and leave. She throws away her drink. And then I tell the Jewish manager guy like so insensitive what went on here? Like you are a Jewish establishment you should do better and be more culturally sensitive. Then I thought I bring my Muslim daughter here who doesn't sit next to men at all like not even for a minute. What if it had been her in this circumstance?Not going back there. It's one thing to ask us can this person sit at our table. But if we say we don't feel comfortable you should respect that and not force us to sit next to someone we don't want to. read more

I have been ordering from them for over a year and i have never really had an issue other than when i would sometimes order cucumber rolls they would unravel before i could eat them. Well recently the last two times i have ordered they have been rude and sloppy. Today i ordered a salmon sushi besides the fact that it took 1hr and 45mins to come I noticed that each salmon was discolored. One even had blood on it! This has got to be my favorite sushi spot in the neighborhood. If you like sushi with a fusion twist, you must try this place, but, if you want authentic Japanese sushi, you May not enjoy this. Also, it's kosher so everything is usually cooked, so if you want raw sushi, you have to specify that you want raw when you put in your order. It's definitely my go to place. The place itself is quite small and gets pretty packed. I usually order and pick up or get it delivered. They have a good range of sushi's and I love the spicy mayo and eel sauce that comes with every order. The prices are quite reasonable as well and good quantity. read more

The food was okay at best. Make sure to ask your receipt and cross reference the menu. For some reason I was charged over $16 for a California and Philly roll and a canned drink. When I got back to my desk I noticed there was a 9.99 "Lunch Menu" for two rolls. Even if charged separately I don't understand how the California roll ($4.50) and Philly Roll ($4.99) and a small canned coke could amount to ~$16. Horrible customer service: I ordered from sushi spot before and didn't have a problem (5:30pm sunday).This time though was a different story. Called to place an order and told them my address and cross streets- don't deliver there They've delivered to me at my location before. (Chatter in the background) We probably had a car then- nope the delivery guy was on a moped I asked if they want me to call back in an hour when it's less busy that's not a problem for me. (More chatter) We can do a $60 minimum- quite ridiculous considering last time was a $15 minimum (Puts me on hold) OK we can do a $20 minimum- sorry not happening. Since I started eating kosher sushi, I have been plagued with mediocre, at best, sushi. I know that this is not the way that it should be, as sushi has very simple components.. This is the first kosher sushi spot that executes correctly. The rice has the right tart/sweet combination and does not overwhelm the fish. The sauces are just right. When dining with a friend, I recommend getting a lunch special and a big roll (that was a tip from the guy manning the counter and a nice money saver--he turned out to be right.) Sushi Spot is hands-down one of the best sushi options in the neighborhood. The rolls have always tasted fresh, they have tasty combinations and good prices too. Simple rolls are around $4-$6 and their more complex rolls run from $8-11. Sushi Spot is a kosher-run restaurant, but lacking a Japanese chef in the kitchen doesn't seem to be hurting their product any, in fact they turn it into a strength with a slew of NYC/Jewish-centric named rolls (like the Alternate Side and Hava Nagila) and portions your Bubbe would approve of. The speciality rolls are all big, big, big, so keep in mind when ordering that you may be able to get just as full with a fewer number of rolls here than other places. The biggest challenge with Sushi Spot is their hours, they run on the Orthodox Jewish clock, so they're closed on Jewish holidays and you'll have to figure out when the Sabbath starts and ends if you're ordering on a Friday or Saturday. I LOVE Sushi, I am a Sushi Feen. Sushi Spot, is right in my neighborhood. The Sushi is prepared quickly and the sushi is tasty and prepared correctly. The location is kind of small but very clean and efficient. They make deliveries but I have not had the pleasure of ordering out from home. I have only taken to go or eaten in the restaurant. My sister and I ordered the lunch special online and we got some pretty typical rolls like spicy tuna and tuna avocado roll. The reason I'm not giving 4 stars is because the online system is wonky and they never printed out my order until I called. That being said, they told me I would get my order in 15 min and they followed through even though the weather outside is horrible and it was peak lunch time. I have never posted on before but felt I had to. I just ordered the crispy rice w/ spicy tuna appetizer, the OMG! roll, and yellowtail w/ jalapeno. The crispy rice and OMG roll looked like cat food. I had a few bites and had to throw the whole thing out. It was absolutely disgusting. The yellowtail w/ japaleno was alright but I ended up just eating the rice and pushed the yellowtail (which looked off) out the middle. I would never eat here again. read more

Sushi spot is HANDS DOWN the BEST SUSHI IN THE NEW YORK. I have ate sushi at so many sushi places and I only order from the Sushi Spot. PROS: 1) They are the only sushi spot that doesn't charge for brown rice 2) Their sushi is very fresh. We have been ordering from them since they opened (about 3 years) and not one time did we have an unfresh sushi. 3) If you look up their restaurant inspection details, they have never received more than about 4 points in violation. This comes to show that they really do care about their business. 4) They are always true to their word and warn you how long it will be for pick up/delivery instead of saying one thing and then it comes out the other. 5) Their lunch special is very affordable and they throw in a free drink. CONS: 1) I have had employees mix up my order with white rice instead of brown and I've had orders where the rice was coming apart very easy (it's suppose to stick) but It's not enough reason to not like them. 2) When they are really busy, they will try to rush you off the phone.
