I didn't even want to give 1 star I went for dinner there last week with my husband. Had no idea that Mondays are a busy night they informed me that they have some sort of promotion that you can do unlimited sushi rolls. My husband ordered sushi rolls and I ordered a main course. My husband's rolls came to the table and the waiter whispered and told me you can't eat from your husband's sushi rolls the manager gets angry. The food was ok. Service was not good. I was already finished eating and my husband was still midway. The manager took a mop at 7 pm and mopped the ceiling above us with the mop. I felt drops on my head from the mop. When I addressed it with the manager, he didn't apologize he disrespected us and acted like we were trying to get free dinner or something. I told him to change the sushi roll my husband was eating that mop water dropped on and he told me no and then asked me to leave the restaurant when I tried to take a photo of what was going on. Scheduled for latest delivery on Friday for Friday night (shabbat meal). Discovered the full order was inedible. The fish was just not fresh and inedible. All Tuna was a dark color, with no taste and all salmon had a colorful film and a grainy texture. My sister keeps complaining about kosher sushi and this example does not help. I called the place Saturday night (after shabbat) they told me to contact the third party I ordered through (ubereats) and that essentially its not their problem. read more

I live close by for a year and never came in. But in one rainy morning I got inside and eat my first tempura sushi rolls! I was impressed. I've never ate anything like this in New York!! And salmon teriyaki is so tasty. It doesn't contain that much teriyaki sauce but the taste is great. It's not typical sushi place. And kosher. You don't need to worry about anything. Everything is on point. So many staff who is ready to help. When I got here with my baby and stroller they helped me to open the door.. I don't see it often. Sushi Tokyo is my go-to place to satisfy my sushi craves, and especially if it's in late hours of the night (they open until 3 am), the large menu offers something for everyone, so even if your not a big sushi fan you can enjoy the range of salads, entrees and mains.. I always get the shitirikki roll (probably misspelled it lol) I was so surprised that when I checked in through yelp I actually got a free edamame ! I was very much a fan of this restaurant. Three of us shared a small boat and got 7 rolls- 3 special, and 4 regular. I don't eat raw fish so I got the crunchy shrimp roll and was extremely pleased! It was a great substitute for shrimp, tasty, crunchy, there wasn't too much breading, and each piece had two imitation shrimps in it! We also had the yamato roll, Leo roll, laguna roll, among others which were also enjoyed. We successfully finished the entire boat it was so good! The fourth person at our table got 3 avocado rolls, Kani salad, and edamame. The kani salad was scrumptious! The crunchy cucumber really added to it. I was really disappointed with Tokyo sushi. I ordered online and my confirmation told me that I should expect delivery by 9:53 pm (which was an hour after I ordered it) but I actually received it after 10:30. I called to find out the status of my delivery and they told me that it was on its way but then it took another half an hour to arrive and I live pretty close. It really shouldn't take an hour and forget minutes to prepare and deliver sushi. I was further disappointed when we opened the bag and sweet sauce spilled everywhere (we requested no sweet sauce). Secondly, the chefs special roll that we got, the Mexican roll, was literally a spicy tuna roll with chopped jalapeño on top. Not worth the $12 we paid for a special roll. Look in the pictures, it's on the top left, it's no bigger or fancier than a regular roll so I felt ripped off paying twice as much for it. I am giving it two stars because they have a decent special for 3 regular rolls for $15 which is not a bad price. Tokyo sushi used to be really good but they changed their menu and their new menu is horrible. Their special roll now consist of all cooked rolls or spicy/ mashed up fish rolls. No nonspicy raw rolls which is what most people prefer. Maybe they're catering to a certain demographic in the area that doesn't like raw fish but that's kinda the point of sushi. I hope they go back to their old menu. read more

Beware! I had to learn the hard way today that this establishment of a place fry their fish (tilapia) with the same oil to fry French fries. After calling them because of a severe allergic reaction to tilapia they responded "thanks for letting us know your concern". NO!! Thanks for letting ME know that you use the same oil to fry fish and French fries. Worst customer care, not even an apology, nothing, zilch. The food was good ...but the environment they created for me and my friends was POOR. Restaurant said it closes at 3am on yelp but me and my colleagues got there at 1:50pm and we're told that they were closing in 10 minutes and they could not seat us . We thought it was weird but we didn't think too much about it and opted to order for take out .Heres where things get interesting .While waiting for our food to take out , we realized they were seating people who came in after us . Upon seeing that I pointed out to the waitress that we too wanted to eat in as well and we were denied the chance to do so because we were told the restaurant was about to close .Eventually the waitress gave in and allowed us to eat in after 2-3 more parties were allowed to sit in and eat after we were denied the chance to sit in and eat .The waitress lacked life and energy and acted as if we were bothering her as opposed to just paying for a service .We ate in on dirty tables that weren't set up for us , I had get my food that was already bagged up and given to me to go in a container ,emptied and put in plate to stay .Our glasses of water didn't even get filled up when we sat in . The restaurant was in a predominantly Jewish area and we were 5 black males .Dont know if that had anything to do with it but the parties that came in after us who were granted access to sit while we weren't was Jewish .Lastly I don't want to jump to assumptions and I'm not but I feel like it's necessary to give a proper account of what went down and the environment of the restaurant . read more
