Reasonably priced veggie sushi options can be found here. They're basic, but for the price I would say it's worth stopping in for. Sushi Star is in a little strip mall behind a Walgreens and located a few doors down from Corner Pocket, which is likely why they stay open to 10pm on weekends. A section of the menu is labeled "Vegetarian Rolls" but most of them are actually vegan. There's also a few veggie appetizer standards: edamame, seaweed salad, sunomono. They also have inari. The seaweed salad was an actual salad... it came served on a bed of spring greens. I liked it. We also tried the AAC (avocado, asparagus, cucumber) and Veggie Rolls. Both were good, but the Veggie Roll was modified to what was actually listed on the menu. It was still tasty though. I liked how the veggie rolls come sauceless by default so I don't have to ask for them to be removed to keep it vegan. Basic = easy. Service was average here, so all in all I would come back when I'm looking for another quick bite of vegan sushi and don't feel like making it myself. read more

What a hidden gem! My hubby and I were in the area and stopped here for lunch. Danny was our sushi chef and he is definitely an artist!! Super friendly staff, great service, and every dish we ordered was mouth watering amazing! We even got to sample a few items, per chef's creation. Fantastic experience! We stopped by this place for the first time a week or so ago and will most definitely be returning. We ordered oysters on the half shell and a couple of sushi rolls. The oysters were garnished beautifully and were absolutely delicious! The sushi rolls were great, too. May was the person who help us. She was a little beam of sunshine. My friend and I ran into this restaurant just by driving around. We were surprised by how well this place treated us. The server greeted us and invited us to order when we were ready. I asked which rolls were the most popular and he suggested the Cecey roll. I was concerned with the level of spicy and the server mentioned they can adapt the ingredients to make the roll more mild. I ordered a bento box and loved how the salad had mixed greens and tomatoes. I also noticed the California roll had 8 pieces instead of a typical 3 at most restaurants. I loved this place and am happy it's near my work so I can enjoy the food again. The place is small but it is worth trying. read more

We always love japanese food that's why we wanted to try a variety of everything. We saw this place and first time coming here. The vibes of the place is simple japanese kind of vibe. Small space but still the ambience is great. You should definitely try the Fried oyster for appetizer. Its 5/5 for me. We have to order another round. We dont like the chicken karagee, not the usual chicken karagge. The tonkatsu is 3/5 for me flavorful but not so much with the umami flavors. Love all the sushi. And a big serving of sashimi deluxe for only $50 is a great choice. Love the place and will go back again here. We tried this place out for the first time after trying to find a new sushi spot in the area. This place had good reviews so we decided to try it out. The location isn't the best, so don't be concerned when you drive up to it. That being said, the service was phenomenal. We came in on a Sunday and they were not very busy. We were told to sit where we liked and they immediately came to us and asked us how we were and took our drink orders. For the food, we got one of the hot appetizers which was very good and came out hot. The edamame was delicious with just the right amount of heat and seasoning. For the sushi, we ordered some nigiri and a couple rolls. The fish on top of the nigiri was super fresh and delicious - it just melted in your mouth. The rolls were super filling as well and had the perfect combinations. Only problem I had with one of the rolls was that it had too much sauce. The rice was soaked in the sauce and it just killed the flavor of everything else for me. Other than that, the food came out quickly and it was super fresh and tasty. They were so nice about giving us complementary gyozas, probably because we ordered a big platter as a new establishment. However, they totally forgot the noodle dish, and we had 3 small toddlers who don't eat sushi. They also forgot to come back to refill waters. But the rolls were good, fresh, and filling. When the noodles did come, they tasted so good too! As a newly opened restaurant, I think they're still getting some kinks out of the way. The menu must have been recently changed because everything that was mentioned in previous reviews was not on the menu we got when we dined in a couple of weekends ago. I wanted to make this my new sushi spot, but it just was not to be!! They don't check their fish for bones!! My partner and I ordered 2 rolls and four hand rolls. We ordered two rolls and four hand rolls. 2 of the hand rolls and our Sushi Star roll had bones in it - three bones were found!! This is unacceptable for any sushi restaurant - truly a sushi sin!! I've never experienced bones in sushi rolls, not once!! Regardless, they waived our bill and we found a better sushi restaurant. Don't risk your life at this place, as a these bones were very sharp and hard to see. We could have ended up in the ER, or choked to death. Imagine if your child ate this food!! The restaurant is modern and new in a plaza with other asian restaurant and mountain mikes pizza. The moment I walked in the staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive. We ordered the tempura appetizer and crunch roll plus the shrimp and steak hibachi. All the meal were flavorful and delicious the tempura was well fried and not too oily and the sauce was sweet with a hint of shoyu. The salad was fresh with nice Japanese miso dressing. The crunch roll was full of panko crunch. Oh now the hibachi it was freshly made medium steak with hint of teriyaki flavor with shrimp and delicious fried rice. First time here. Place is a little hidden in the Walgreens parking lot. It's in that shopping center behind Walgreens. Very good food. Flavorful and I'm very picky about my fried rice but they did a great job! Atmosphere is well lit, plenty of seats and very clean. I was greeted with smiling faces.
