Came here for dinner at 8:00PM, was seated right away on a Saturday night. I live across the street from this place and really only come on Monday's because they have 1/2 price sushi. I was craving sushi tonight, so I came here with the wife and brother-in-law. Ordered the sashimi combo and it came with 15 pieces of fish. There was 3 pieces each of tuna, salmon, seared yellowtail, white tuna, and mackerel topped with some orange fish roe and green onions (presented quite nicely). Salad and miso soup was served on the side. All the fish was fresh and tasted great. I polished it off in probably 5 minutes. :) Quick meal that cost a whopping $24; add an iced tea and it's a pretty pricey meal. The staff are really friendly here. There are approximately 8-10 tables and 10-12 seats at the sushi bar. I must add that they sell Japanese "craft" beer here. I love that! Glad to see this place sourcing Japanese beer for their customers. Awesomeness! I apologize for not getting a picture of the sashimi plate, but I was too hungry and scarfed it down. I have spent $172.00 for sushi, Miso soup, Uni and to my disappointment the sushi was minuscule, half the size I have experienced in the past. Although the quality of sushi is still there the size was chopped in half and that was a very sad thing. The soup container was filled only with half of the Miso Soup and in true honesty could not believe it. This is the only one I will eat at in this area. The fish is fresh. The chef (Brian) is quiet but when you take the time to discuss food with him you will find he is knowledgable and passionate about what he does. He WILL NOT serve you anything of low standards. He is creative and always open to making something new. Now if you choose to eat in this small family establishment on a busy night you and you're in a hurry, don't stay or don't complain about service. They're BUSY! Get over it or don't stay. I had a small side salad that had a tad bit too much dressing, cold tofu that I took off a co-workers plate (first time eating it, didn't know what to expect) and it was a bit tasteless. I tried a roll from my coworkers plate that was very tasty, but I have no idea what was in it. Veggies I assume because hes vegetarian.... Ok, so my main meai was the chicken bowl. I loved the fresh veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots) and the chicken was cooked to perfection. My only complaint that it was drenched in sauce and they gave me way too much rice, that I didn't even attempt to eat. Anyways, I will probably never be back in the area, but I hear there isn't much sushi around the area, so I guess people will have to eat here if that's what they are craving. We had just come back from snowboarding so we looked like bums in our sweats and fleece jackets, but they took us in and seated us anyway, even apologizing when we had to wait 5 minutes as they set up our table for 6. But wow. Their fish is so fresh. My brother and I had ordered the Chirashiu (sp?) bowl and I got the lettuce wraps, and they were both delicious choices! Especially the sashimi in the Chirashiu bowl, so fresh, so soft, so good. The lettuce wraps to me were kind of like mini sushirittos, but still delicious! Though it was a mix of various sashimis, cucumber and avocado + more, it really came together to a nice refreshing plate. Fun fact. Their miso is complementary!! And their staff was so nice to us. One of my friends had a stomach ache, so she was brought hot water and even the kids teriyaki chicken bowl. My review is based on food and service. Overall I did like the sushi here, they have a large variety and I like that they offer non-sushi dinners for those people who don't like sushi. My daughter had the orange chicken here it came with white rice and frozen stem vegetables. I had the dragon sushi and it was good and presentation was great. I did not like that they do not bring wasabi and ginger automatically. We had 3 rolls where a table of 4 and after asking more than once we only got brought one serving. Service was ok, server was friendly but at some portion of our meal she disappeared and we had to get up to ask for things. Never did she come and offer refills on our drinks or if we wanted another round of beer. The place was clean, decor was okay. This restaurant was disappointing. I decided to give it a try based on the recommendation of others. It did not live up to expectations. First, the good parts. The place was clean and nicely laid out. Tables were not too close together, lighting was good, ambience was pleasant. The servers were excellent - friendly and attentive. They kept our drinks filled and dirty plates were removed promptly. Unfortunately, they had little to serve, which leads to the not-so-good part. The food took a very long time to come out. We started with 2 appetizers and 2 rolls. The appetizers took about 10 minutes, not too bad. The first rolls took about 20 minutes to arrive. That was okay since we had ordered appetizers. When the first rolls arrived, we placed our order for 3 more rolls (there were 3 of us). Those rolls took almost 30 minutes to arrive. My companions ordered 2 more rolls when the second round arrived since the second round had taken so long. That round was the worst. It took 45 minutes for the last round of rolls to arrive. Ridiculous! All together, it took almost 2 hours for 2 appetizers and 7 rolls. The restaurant was not full so that wasn't problem. There were only 2 chefs working the sushi station, though, and they were very slow. The wait would not have bothered me so much if the food had been outstanding, but it wasn't. The spicy tuna was good but the philly roll had way too much cream cheese and the salmon was not cold. That was nasty. The shrimp roll was good but the panko on the outside too thick. The rainbow roll was good but contained only 3 types of fish, not the 5 types as the menu indicated. The highlight was the seaweed salad. It was nicely chilled, fresh tasting and well-dressed. Very quaint and clean location. Lucy was our waitress and treated us very kind. It was our first time there and she made us feel very comfortable. There was a ten minute wait but mr husband and I decided to sit at the bar. We redeemed our free sake for checking in on Yelp. It was pretty good. We ordered our first round (shrimp crunch roll and a fried calamari roll). As we waited, Chris (our Sushi chef) asked if we wanted anything while we waited. Upon his recommendation we ordered a Volcano roll! WOW!!! Spectacular flavors! The smoked tuna was paired with God knows what but I HIGHLY recommend this roll as well! We didn't even get a chance to eat here. When my group and I arrived at 7:05PM we were told we would have to wait 45 minutes. The guy up front was super rude and told us in a mean tone that we would have to wait a long time because we had a big party ( take into consideration that we only had 4 but we said 5 just in case). Seemed like he was annoyed. We then saw a sign in front saying we needed to wait outside if we were not seated - it was 40 degrees outside. Nonetheless we waited outside because he was mean. After 25 minutes my friend kindly asked how long it was going to be again (because it was cold outside), the guy was super rude and said "I told you 45 minutes", he then asked well then how much time? The guy rudely responded "25 minutes". Oh and I counted the number of customers and they had 10 people there! That's it! So if you yelped this place and are considering going here with a party... I wouldn't... Just because of the mean customer service my friends and I just didn't want to eat here anymore... We then yelped another spot called Amagi Sushi and we called and they told us they closed at 8pm - take in mind it's 7:30pm by now! We ended up going there and they took us in like no tomorrow! My husband and I love this place. Eric, Ryan, Chris and Mark are all great. They really do take pride in their sushi creations. Eric is always going to buy fresh fish. And if you ask (or even forget to ask) for something special or easy sauce or anything. They will absolutely remake it and try to make you happy. The support staff are also very nice they always make accommodations for my picky eater kiddo. Sometimes they get busy and you have to wait a little but I think it's worth it.
