Just getting on their feet, the restaurant could use a major face lift on the inside of the restaurant. I've been about 4-5 times now and will not visit ANY other sushi restaurant in the Lemoore/Hanford area. Having lived in Japan for a few years, I find many items on and off the menu that reminds me of my time there. The sashimi I order is always fresh, and the specialty rolls are always yummy. Three of the times I have been, I have struck up a conversation with Sonny (head sushi chef and owner) and usually end up with complimentary off menu dishes. By suggestion, Sonny has installed a tv over the sushi bar, and is usually playing country music (odd, but it caters to the local population). If you're looking to try something new, request tempura pumpkin. It's is absolutely DELICIOUS and traditionally found in many restaurants in Japan! Kompai! An awful experience. The food was subpar, but this review will be more about the service. Their website and Facebook page give you the sense that this is a nice/borderline fine dining experience. No. You are given paper menus, told to sit in shabby diner style tables, and to walk up and order at the counter. Fine. Whatever. I hear a lot about the owner Sunny (Sonny?). That he is friendly and kind. Well, I think he just plays favorites. I was extremely excited to tell him I chose his establishment as my birthday dinner, but he was too busy sitting and talking with another patron for over 30 minutes about topics ranging from her addiction to Snapchat to how all the freebies he was giving her were going to fatten her up. Lastly, yes we arrived late... but still well before closing. But we're still customers. We're still eating in your dining room. This did not stop the lady who took our order from vacuuming 3 feet from where we were sitting. Nothing like dust particles from a vacuum bag to bring out that sashimi flavor!! We literally had to yell across the table over the sound of the vacuum. Cleaning of a dining room should only occur after all your customers are finished and gone. I will not be returning. Leaving this review because the stars on yelp don't do this place justice. The food is just sooo good!! I used to eat her back in the day then moved away. I came back about a year ago and completely forgot about this place until tonight!! I'm going to be a frequent customer now. I'm already planning my next visit. The service is great. Just so you know how much I disliked the food, let me preface this by saying I created a yelp account just to review this restaurant. Let's start with the lesser complaints. Sweet and sour chicken tasted and felt like frozen microwavable chicken. The white dragon roll wasn't terrible, but it was mediocre at best. The chicken katsu .... 1. Who puts mayo on katsu? 2. Nowhere on the menu does it say they put mayo on their katsu, otherwise I would've said no mayo. 3. Who the f*ck puts mayo on katsu? Now, the biggest issue. I said no sesame on anything as it's an allergy. As in, epi-pen in the leg and possible hospital visit level of allergy. So again, I specified no sesame on ANYTHING. While they didn't put sesame seeds on anything, they absolutely covered their salad in sesame seed oil. On top of that, they put the salad in the same container as the chicken katsu. We love our meal that we had for Mother's Day! We loved our meal today that we ordered for Mother's Day! We had two orders of shrimp and veggie tempura, hearty pieces and lightly breaded. Also the pan fried noodles with chicken, so delicious with a yummy sauce and sautéed onions and nice pieces of chicken. We also had the Spider Roll which was delicious and the veggie stir fry with lots of tofu . To top it off they gave us 3 pieces of complimentary cheesecake!!! Such a nice touch for Mother's Day. In the time of Covid 19 the employees all were following the safety guidelines and wore masks and gloves and were so friendly! They had a great system inside for our pick up that allowed for social distancing and our order was set in an area so that we had very little contact with the employees. It worked great. My mom and I are from Chicago, and we are staying at an Airbnb. This sushi place is the closest to our stay, and the service was so delightful. I didn't get the lady's name, but she was very attentive. She was kind, communicated well with the time of food coming out, and knowledgeable about new items I never tried before. They were a little busy, so I appreciated her letting us know our food was coming up soon. We ordered the rainbow roll and the Mexican roll along with the spicy garlic edamame. We also, ordered the frozen drinks mango and passion fruit. We never tried them before, but were delicious. All was pleasing to my pallet. Enjoyed eating there. The ramen is out of this world...FANTASTIC. However, the sushi frankly was so soft and clearly old fish because of how strong the fishy taste was compared to other places I have been. I love the bowl that it comes in which is a true Japanese style to go bowl that you dump everything into when you get home and the portion is just perfect. I was skeptical after seeing the price compared to other places but the larger portion and taste is definitely worth the $10. I am full just from eating that. Went there prior to the grand opening. Rushed. That's a word to describe its over all delivery. Walking in there was awkward wet carpet smell. The layout and interior design is definitely a gathering of party city clearance items. The service, well you have to go order and then they bring it to you. It was very disorganized. I had lived in Japan for several years, Luv the country, the people and the food as well. Yes, I was so excited to have a Sushi Bistro in Lemoore! Today was my family's first experience, we ordered in advance, take out. Our order was Shrimp Tempura Roll, Gyoza and two orders of Katsudon. I was told 15 minutes. I called it in at 4:48pm on a Thursday. I was happily greeted immediately upon entering by the gal behind the counter. After she verified my order and I paid (at 5:05pm), I was informed they were waiting on my Katsudon. But I only waited an additional 5 minutes for my order to be complete. So it was 22 minutes total for a take out order. We get home, so looking forward to our meal, and we find two sets of chop sticks, which by the way, were the nicest throw-away chop sticks I have ever received. The presentation of the Shrimp Tempura Roll was pretty. My daughter was so excited she posted a picture of it on her Facebook page. But there is where the thrill ended. My Gyoza was a bit hard, and the meat inside was bland. The Katsudon had a very strange taste...and the pork was extremely dry as well. My daughter was bummed, the shrimp tempura roll tasted soggy and very salty like it was soaked in salt water. The worst of it all, the three of us ended up giving our meals to our dogs. I tried to eat mine, mainly because I spent good money on it. But I honestly couldn't get past the strange taste and lingering weird aftertaste. I am very disappointed. I truly hope they work out whatever the issue is with their food. But until I hear a miracle happens there, I won't be returning.
