Sushi Topia is my girlfriend's favorite local sushi joint when she visits Canada. This is mainly because it's literally right behind her friend's condo and within walking distance. Given we needed to meet up with said friend, I was willing to give Sushi Topia a shot. Ordered one of the sashimi plates and dragon roll on offer. The sashimi cuts were the basic ones as expected (salmon, tuna, and yellowtail) with a few surprises. I liked how big the cuts were, but they were just a bit too cold...cold enough that they felt like they were taken out of the freezer and barely defrosted. Dragon roll was fine, I'm glad I asked for the unagi sauce on the side because it would've been too much. Service was solid, no complaints here. Pay up front when you're done. Sushi Topia is good enough to be a local sushi joint, but not a place I'd clamor to go to if I'm spending limited time in Canada.

Randomly came across this place in Vancouver, but glad I decided to go! One of the best rolls I've ever had

I'd give this place a solid 2.5 stars I'm gonna start off with the good and finish with the bad. My experience in the restaurant was great, everyone had a smile, and the decor is very modern and has a refreshing enviorment. But of course a restaurant is mainly judged by it's food, and unfortunately I have to say it did not do so well. I started off with the chicken karage and a side of salad, I liked the seasoning on the chicken karage but the chicken pieces just consisted of chicken skin and mainly fat, and the sauce that came with the karage had this sweet cinnamon almost oatmeal like flavour that really was unnessecary and a big turn off, the salad was not really put together with care, the mixed greens were wilting and looked like they were on the point of going bad, but the worst part wasn't the greens it was the sauce that looked like that was just spat on to my dish, I'm not sure if the sauce was supposed to be really thick and just taste unpleasant but to describe it, it looked like a puree of beans and All Bran flakes and that sort of even describes the taste. So anyways for my main course, The Tiger Roll, there was nothing paticularly dissatisfiying with it, its just that with a pretty steep price tag of over 10 dollars including tax, I expected alot more from a "Special Roll" and the flavours were just dry and the tempura prawn tasted like it was fried in the morning. All in all, to sum up my review the food was not up to par with the price, I might give Sushi Topia another visit but my advice is if you want the best bang for your buck there are plenty of japanese restaurants along scott road or even right across the street!

solid 3.5 stars, as it's fairly new, the bunch of bouquets at the front a telling sign. even Surrey has the ever popular koreans operating sushi places. Ordered the crispy roll to go, good enough for a repeat next time in the area. Lots of crunch, and fresh prawn tempura, right touch. located in the corner of this busy plaza, a few booth seating. friendly service, gave me a tea while waiting for takeout.

Menu: Chawan mushi - steamed egg custard with vegetable(bean, shimeji mushroom) and seafood(shrimp and slice of fish) Ankimo - Monkfish Liver with seasonal seafood(scallop and shrimp) Grilled black cod, with saikyo miso and marinated blue fin tuna and cooked egg. Tenpura - seafood (slice of fish, seafood stuffed vegetable and vegetable(shiitake) 9 pieces of sushi Daily miso soup - clam Dessert - kinako and mitarashi dango Chawan mushi was great. I can taste fish based broth and egg custard was very silky and smooth. Decent amount of ingredients sush as shrimp, slice of fish , bean and shimeji mushroom. I wish they served it slightly cooler than too hot. Ankimo - Great item. Monkfish liver was rich and paired with scallop and shrimp so well. Sauce was just ok. Grilled black cod was another great item. Crispy and juicy, just perfectly done. Blue fine tuna was covered by salty marinated sauce which was great when wrapped with seaweed. Cooked egg was just ok Tenpura - Seafood stuffed vegetable was my favorite. Others were also decent. Highlight and stand out item was 9 pieces of sushi. Honmaguro(bluefine tuna) was good. Shari(sushi rice) was nicely seasoned with vinegar, very mild and which I liked it. Tuna was delicious. Sea breem(MADAI) was another good piece. Delicious. Aburi Toro was nicely seared. I wish this item could be a bit more softer and buttery, but it was still good. Akaebi(red shrimp) and Hokkaido sea urchin - Lightly torched the top of sea urchin and its smokiness brought out more sweetness flavor of Akaebi(red shrimp) Hokkaido Scallop - Very smooth, soft and nice texture. Delicious. Kinmedai(Gold eye snapper) -- My favorite. Texture was very soft and chewy, It was great item. Hokkaido sea urchin - Actually, this one was just ok. I wish it could be more creamy. Unagi - One of the best item. It was so fluffy and soft right after chef cooked and served. This is a must try item. Daily miso soup with clam - I can taste fish broth (dashi) flavor so well. Clam was delicious. It was good. Dessert - Kinako coated mitarashi dango -It was nicely chewy and soft. I wish there were more sauce on it. Overall, it worth visiting this place. The only problem is that so hard to get a reservation. Hopefully, I can get next reservation, may be next year.

We love Japanese cuisine so I decided to surprise the hubby with an omakase for his birthday in January. Unfortunately, they have a 6-month wait and I was not prepared so I ended up booking it for our anniversary in May. The food was phenomenal and delicious! I love the chawanmushi loaded with goodies inside. The ankimo (monkfish liver) dish was so tasty with the scallop and prawn. Black cod was cooked to perfection! The nigiris are all so fresh. We quickly put ourselves on the waiting list for after September so we can come here again soon! There's a parking lot just next door. The place inside is small and intimate. Service is great!

Food arrived after 15-20 minutes. Didn't enjoy the appetizer sashimi. The temperatures were warm. Working in quality assurance in the seafood industry made it extremely difficult for me to be satisfied. Prawn tempura and agedashi tofu were delicious. Chicken katsu was dry. Beef teriyaki was excellent. Lots of indoor seating. Modern decor. Clean. It would be better if you assign servers to specific table. We had 3 different servers come to our table and we had 2 extra miso soup. We had 2 different servers ask the same questions a few times. All in all, good experience.

Pretty brave if you ask me for a special occasion but it turned out well. The started out around six o'clock on a Sunday for dinner so it was pretty early. They are having a 10% off your bill so it eventually got fairly busy. The decor is clean and refreshing with a fair number of seats. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I did let them know that their google place pin was in the wrong place and sending customers in the wrong direction...oops! The food was good, smaller portions and a little pricey. Tasty tho, they had my favourite Oshi Saba, my partner's; negintoro, spicy chops scallop roll and for main he had the vegetable udon and I had the Pork Katsu. Good food, nice atmosphere, be prepared to spend a little more.
