It was kinda crazy busy the night I dined here. It was 40 minutes until closing. We waited 15 minutes. The host than offered me two seating options of bar or table. I choose table and a couple that just walked in took the bar. But the host THAN said it would be an additional 5-10 minute wait. HOLD UP...Say what?!? He should have said that while he was asking me the question. Good grief! I did point this out to him and he apologized. I really wanted to leave at that point but I stayed. The night did get better, thank goodness! Ya! Our waitress was great; friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. I chose the sashimi chef selection. It was fresh and so delicious. The presentation was wonderful, beautifully placed sashimi served in an artisanal wood bowl. The veggie potstickers had a great flavor and was a substantial serving size. This is one of those lovely places which has an entirely unpretentious exterior hiding an absolutely glorious meal. Informal atmosphere is combined with perfectly prepared Japanese style and Japanese/American style sushi. The service is attentive without being intrusive and the food is outstanding. I was meeting a friend for lunch and she suggested Sushi Tri based on another friend's recommendation. On this occasion, we arrived right at opening and there were only a few other people present. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I'm a big sushi fan and always like to explore the specialty rolls. Sushi Tri had plenty of other offerings, which is a big plus if you have someone in your party who doesn't care for sushi. After perusing the menu, I decided on the Hot Mama Roll. Unfortunately, it didn't really wow me. Now, having said that, the fish was fresh and presentation good. Sometimes, trying something new just doesnt work out. This is my favorite sushi place in Marin that has reasonable prices, and the food is on par with most higher priced sushi restaurants around. I also like that they have real crab. I've had several selections of the Nigiri and Sashimi, the Spicy Tuna roll, Rainbow roll, Walnut Prawn roll, Double Hamachi roll, California roll, Hot Mama roll. I enjoyed all of them and the fish has always been fresh. The menu is huge so no matter what type of Japanese food you are looking for they probably have something you will like. Despite my high standards for sushi, Sushi Tri definitely meets my standards. The fish is always fresh and their portion sizes are perfect. This was an A+ experience for us. We wanted to try a new spot closer to the city on our way to a show. Thankfully found this gem. It is right off the freeway and super easy to get back on once your belly is full. We didn't have a reservation but were seated quickly without issue at a lovely back patio table near the zen garden. They did a lovely job putting the back patio area together it created a nice ambiance. The sake menu was larger than most I've seen. I'm not normally a fan, but gave it a whirl and what we tried was quite delicious, a little effervescent and it was in a pink bottle. The waitstaff thought it was funny the mister even liked it, I guess it's supposed to be a girly option but we all loved it. We shared the chicken wings and several rolls. Everything I ordered was not gluten free but I felt good and had no adverse reactions so their kitchens are clean which is always nice to know. My only gripe is the mango roll we ordered was covered in tempura crunchies that I don't recall seeing on the menu, that is something that should be listed folks. This ramen here is pretty good. The broth is decent and the chashu pork is yummy. The Korean chicken wings was fire! Very flavorful and soft. I highly recommend ordering the chicken wings. The wagyu beef skewers was very disappointing. Not much flavor there and the texture is not as tender as I'd expected it to be. Tastes just like any other beef. Don't get the wagyu beef. read more

We ordered take out from here. The total was $72 but not at all reflected in the quality of the food. Spider roll was poorly wrapped and fell apart. Even if had stayed together there was too much overripe avocado and the entire thing was under seasoned. Teriyaki chicken was rubber chicken with a bland teriyaki sauce squirted on top. The salad that came with it was a pathetic throw away addition to call the teriyaki chicken a "meal". Soba noodles were probably the best item but they were all underwhelming. The tempura that came with them was soggy but judging fried food to go is always hard so I give them a pass on that. They might want to use a different container with vents so that the fried items don't steam the whole ride home. Fuji mountain roll was decent and the best item but nothing special. read more

I had the lunch special - 2 items (from about ten choices, including several basic rolls, as well as non-sushi items) plus miso soup, salad, and rice for $13. I had a California roll (fresh tasting and meaty) with a spicy tuna roll. My mom enjoyed the sides and her shrimp tempura, but her CA roll...not so much (it was her first time trying sushi), so I took it home for my CA roll loving daughter. We actually were planning to go to Beso, but it was packed and the patio was closed. Sushi Tri was also packed, but they set up a table for us out by the quaint tea garden, per my inquiry (it was very noisy inside, and we wanted to be able to hear each other, as well as have a peaceful meal). My wife and I were driving nearby when we got a flat tire. We pulled into their parking lot to change it. Ended up being their grand opening, so we went in for an early dinner. 5+ years later it's still our favorite sushi spot. The quality is always top notch, and the staff are great. "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" Yep, that pretty much says it all. I've eaten here and gotten take out more times than I can remember. Honestly, this place is so good that I stopped going to my previous "go to" sushi restaurant (name withheld, they are nice people) and I'd say that with the exception of Sushi Ran in Sausalito, this is by far the best sushi restaurant in the North Bay. The staff is super prompt and friendly. They remember you by name. I can count on this finger ---) [finger] how many restaurants in the area have staff that do that. They have an extensive menu which I'm not going to overview here. Suffice it to say that whether you are in the mood for soup, yakitori, sushi, a Bento box... they have you covered. There are however a few standout dishes I have to highlight: Japanese Chicken Wings. These things are an absolutely must. Probably the best appetizer I can think of at any restaurant in Novato. Spicy, sweet, sticky - insanely great. If you are not dining by yourself and you don't share this dish you're a fool. Share the wings and be loved by your table mates. Udon, Ramen & Soba. Lots of choices and variations here. Something for every palate. Deep Fried Rolls. 'Enuf said. They offer an extensive selection of sushi rolls, including over a dozen "Chef Special" rolls. My personal favorites are the Four Season Roll and the Dragon Roll. And if you order these at the restaurant be prepared to be blown away by the presentation. Truly beautiful. Like I said, they have a tremendous selection which is great because I still haven't tried everything after dozens of visits. They have a relatively extensive wine and sake list too. Sushi Tri offers both inside and outside seating and a small bar area. They also offer a large selection of party trays (all listed on their website menu) so you can be a hero at the office when you bring in a giant platter of the Japanese Chicken Wings. read more

I really enjoyed Sushi Tri. The weather was nice so we opted to sit in the patio area. We ordered the seaweed salad and Agadashi tofu to start. It was my first time trying agadashi tofu. It had a nice crispy side and I love it with the ponzu sauce. I will be attempting to make this myself. I was looking for a place for lunch in Novato and Sushi Tri was one of the better reviewed places on Yelp. When I walked in, there was a list that you put your name on. After doing so, I went over to the wall of wine to look at what they carried. A server came up to the front, didn't look at the list and seated people that came in after me. The only seat left was outside, which normally is not my favorite place to eat, but it worked out. I wasn't in the sun and I wasn't pestered by flies or yellow jackets. I had a half bottle of the Hakutsura Sayuri. It was too sweet for my taste. I had, all nigiri, sake, suzuki, spicy scallop, and tamago. All the fish was fresh and the staff was friendly. read more
