Recently opened sushi spot. Indoors has very upscale decor. Very clean establishment with friendly service. Its located in a small plaza across the street from train station. Had dinner at the chefs counter and watched while sushi was prepared in front of us. Everything was tasty and chef friendly. It was more than enough food and left pretty full (not always the case at sushi spots in the city). The price is reasonable for the amount of sushi you get. They also have an omakase option, but you dont need to order that to sit at the counter. They are also open for lunch with some plenty of lunch specials, might give that a try next time.

SUSHI UME is a very welcome addition to the current landscape of Japanese casual cuisine in lower Westchester, serving perfect grade fresh seafood. Being here for only a couple of weeks on the busy intersection of Main Street & Columbus Avenue in Tuckahoe, they are ready to impress with a good array of freshly well- prepared offerings. We ordered take-out and tonight were very happy In our carefully packaged take-out bag we found: * * * Hamachi Collar - Mmm ... Melt in your mouth sublime * * * * * * Salmon Tartar - Layered with Avocado & crunchy Tobiko topping * * * * * * Amazing Roll - Spicy Tuna, Eel, Avocado and seaweed - Excellent grade fresh seafood all around * * * We really want to see SUSHI UME succeed as they are a type of restaurant very much needed in the Westchester area. Let's give them a try! * * * Arigato!! * * * Thank you for reading

The best sushi I've had in Westchester County. I was really impressed by the chirashi, which was not only beautifully presented but also generous in portion and variety and fresh to boot! Felt like a tier above most places I've been in the area. My husband had two rolls which he also very much enjoyed. Kid friendly, with a sushi counter for omakase, spacious, and plenty of options for non sushi eaters. The sushi chef is formerly of Yoshino NYC, which Pete Wells gave 4 out of 4 stars. Didn't know this until after my meal, but it made a lot of sense! They just opened, so looking forward to returning soon to support.

Sushi Umi catered my wedding as an outside vendor and it was the highlight of the cocktail hour. Thanks again!!

Nice ambiance. Can definitely be a romantic place for dinner. We came here for lunch and I got a chicken katsu bento box which came with sushi. It was well set up to make it easy to eat. Since we went close to lunch ending we got quick service on a Sunday. Street parking is what's available with a meter.

Uni Ikura Don as a part of the omakase meal.

Came here to Ladle on a whim. Best unplanned detour ever. Within seconds of walking in, I met the owner, Leslie Lampert who was an absolute delight. As we talked, she told me the community outreach she does throughout Westchester, provides food to those in need and dedicates a lot of her time to giving back. You could tell this lady has passion in all that she does. Ladle is cozy- so small that if my arms were a few inches longer, I think I could touch both walls at the same time. Anyhow. Leslie made a few suggestions from the chalkboard menu, pointed out the freshly prepared salads, soups and homemade sweets.I left with a quart of the cauliflower truffle soup, which was velvet with like a bisque-like consistency and a shrimp and quinoa bowl that was packed with juicy shrimp. And there's more... Leslie couldn't stop talking about her veg muffins- so she gave me 2 on the house. I'm so glad she did because they were absolutely delicious. Everything I brought home was tasty. Delicious food rocks- but meeting someone who's warm, generous and community-focused like Leslie made this visit stick.

To start, we shared the crispy brussel sprouts Charleston style. These were delicious with the tangy sauce and large flakes of parmesan cheese. For my main, I had the brunch wrap. It comes with chips, but I swapped for fries for an additional charge. The wrap was a good size; I had half and saved the rest for leftovers. It was tasty, but not a ton of flavor. The tater tots were nice and crispy and I enjoyed the fresh tomatoes and avocado. They gave me a huge portion of crinkle cut fries, which also would've been great with a little more seasoning, but they were good when dipped in mayo. My husband got the shrimp and grits and appreciated the large portion size as well. I had a lemonade to drink. It was refreshing since it wasn't overly sweet. Service was great. I look forward to trying the rest of the menu!

Aesthetically, each table feels like a meal at a family dinner table; it's clear that they wanted that vibe to be translated, and it's done quite well. This is also supported by the service being very friendly and helpful in general. To eat, I had the French toast burger with sweet potato fries. Some others with me had various sides like regular fries and tater tots, and the same thing was present on them that tends not to be at most places: they were all perfectly salted/seasoned. It might seem immaterial, but it's a very good signal when something that simple--yet often neglected in favor of just using condiments to mask it--is executed well. If you're a burger place with fries that taste great without the need for a sauce or condiment, you're doing something right. The French toast burger was likewise fantastic, combining sweet and savory in a great way. To drink, we all got a communal pitcher of the only frozie they had available at the time: a kind of jungle juice vodka slushie. It, too, was great--worthy of multiple rounds. All in all, here's a place that I can't wait to give another visit.

Estelle did not have anything prepared ahead of time and was 15 minutes late. The assistant who was there to greet us seemed unhappy and annoyed that we were there and did not let us know Estelle was running late. When Estelle started the class there was no greeting or introduction and no instruction as to what the girls would be doing. She split the girls into two tables but the assistants were not able to give instructions so each table had to wait while Estelle worked with the other table. One of the assistants just kept rolling her eyes at the girls and repeating "I'm not the chef" and pointing to Estelle and saying to listen but there was no way for them to listen to the instruction because she was demonstrating with her back to them at the other table. So most of the time the girls were just sitting around waiting for instructions. When my co-leader tried to step in and help give instruction Estelle was extremely rude to her, and in front of the kids! The kids barely got to do any cooking. They basically just measured some ingredients into bowls and poured them into cupcake tins. These girls were between 9-14 years old and they have all been doing that since they were 3 and 4 years old. We thought they would be learning more than prepping ingredients and stirring ingredients around. When we asked if the girls would be doing any of the actual cooking Estelle told us she couldn't have them working with the hot oven. I asked my girls when we got home what they thought and they said it was boring and they didn't get to do any cooking, that Estelle did everything for them. The pictures of the shop online look nothing like what it actually looks like in person, which was very run down with stuff piled everywhere, no pastries in the cases, some dead plants in the window and very dirty. The fact that Estelle charged us $900, which is money the girls made themselves selling cookies, felt like a huge scam. I'm so bummed we wasted their hard earned money and our time at Estelle Gourmet.

These were a great recommendation from one of my waiters, and my only complaint is I wish the dipping sauce had black vinegar or a bit of a stronger flavor, it was sweet and a bit bland and I think it could have added more complexity to the pork and shrimp instead of muting it. Scallion pancakes 6.5/10 they were shatteringly crisp and flaky on the outside and soft on the inside, texturally were delightful and exactly what I hoped for from the photos on the menu, and it was a good portion size, but there was about three flecks of scallion per pancake piece--very faint scallion flavor, almost indetectable, so they were fairly bland. Stir fry with handmade noodles and chicken 6.5/10 the noodles were thick and chewy, they actually blended in well with the chicken visually haha! the sauce was nicely thick to hold up to the noodles and the dish felt simple but carefully made with the the thin slices of chicken (half of which were perfectly cooked and half of which were just a little tough), with a scattering of bell peppers that still had a little crunch, a pleasant contrast to the other soft textures, and a bit of green onion--if I tried this again, I would ask for extra vegetables. I'm glad I tried this dish, but next time would try another item on their menu or maybe just get two dumplings orders... Beyond the food, the waiters were quick to respond when I asked for water or a to go container and they offered helpful recommendations, while clearly busy with takeout and in-restaurant customers. The atmosphere was casual with some wooden lattice work that added character and music that brought me back about a decade or two haha, it wasn't a huge space but it didn't feel crowded with warm lighting and dark wood.
