My visit here was amazing! I ordered the Miso Soup and Katsudon and both were seasoned perfectly! The atmosphere is absolutely gorgeous and minimalistic and the service here is so sweet! Definitely coming back!!

Sashimi and a la cart...the salmon and eel stand out.

I did a walk in and took the food to go. The place is clean and everyone had masks. The prices are good to fair. I had the Sashimi and some al la cart and have to say the options here are amazing. They also have hand rolls! Their salmon and eel stood out as the best. I will be going here again and will update my review then. Good customer service. I would suggest trying it as Bronxville is a great spot to walk around because of the quaint shops.

Kaito is a hidden gem in Bronxville because I've driven by it so many times and not even noticed. Plus it's located where I honestly didn't expect a sushi spot anyway. This quaint little restaurant, has a decent menu and prices are very reasonable. After some Christmas shopping, Kaito was the ace in the hole. Place is compact and I can definitely see evenings getting crammed so book in advance. My Sweet Potato, Yellowtail+Scallion and Spicy Salmon Lunch Special Rolls were all fresh including hubs'. I redeemed my Check-In Offer and got the Salmon Nigiri 'Chef's Choice'. Pet peeves? Minor- but would've enjoyed my Sweet Potato Roll- if Orange Sweet Potato was used instead of the white. Also- maybe it's my perception but I didn't like the crosshatch scoring Kaito does on their Nigiri. Anyhow... for an early Wednesday afternoon, Kaito was calm with a few other folks also having lunch. Service was pleasant and this place was fine on a whim. I guess these guys don't have a dull moment because it seems like Kaito is a fan favorite.

31-40/# shrimp yaki soba, all terrible
    John L.

We sat at the sushi bar, thinking to order sushi, but after skimming the menu decided to order from the cook station in back, a big mistake! Clearly the sushi chefs right in front of us knew their trade, preparing orders skillfully and with scrumptious presentation. Not to be wholly remiss, we did try the sushi, me two pieces of eel, and my friend a tuna avocado roll. The cook in back, however, overcooked my shrimp yaki soba, with shrimp boiled so rubbery, and vegetables and soba so soggy and almost falling apart, i had no basis even to compare or guess how overdone. Whatever essence of soba, made from the heart of each buckwheat groat, had long evaporated, evanescent. I left one piece of shrimp i couldn't bear to finish, a hint for someone to inspect how hard and rubbery. The cook also served my friend a chicken fried rice so wet, it looked steamed rather than fried. Then came our bill and a bit of menu misrepresentation, which our server acknowledged by marking down the $6 pieces of eel, adding $5 sushi is only chef's choice. All-in-all, avoid Friday evening. Our orders took 45 minutes, overcooking. Waiting for a table at our first choice a few doors away would've been wiser.

Best Sushi in the area!! It melts in your mouth good! I've tried most of other sushi places and this is the best!

Seeing reviews saying this place is authentic, I was really looking forward to this place but I was very disappointed. Really?!? A sunnyside up egg in my udon?? The udon was over cooked and chewy and just had a bunch of random veggies thrown in it. Tempura was coated with panko crumbs instead of tempura batter. Also, I guess they ran out of rice for our sushi roll. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but saying this place is authentic is a joke.

    Angela B.

Plain and simple this spot has great sushi and friendly customer service. Plenty of traditional as well as more creative roll options. I had the beef negimaki as a starter and the Red Devil and Panther specialty rolls. Everything was fresh and delicious. I'll be back!

The fish was of great quality and the rice to fish ratio was perfect. My only grievance is the size of the rolls. Much too small!
    Preston L.

The service was great, the quality of the sushi was excellent, but the size of the rolls and portions were much too small. While the fish to rice ratio was of good stature, the overall size of the rolls were insufficient. The small size of the rolls is the reason why I will not be returning. Beyond the small rolls, the fish was of fresh and good quality and the service was spectacular. These are truly nice and hospitable people. It is just a shame that their rolls and portions were so small. I hope they can correct this flaw. If they do, I'll return

I've dined at Japan Inn (this restaurant's predecessor) and always had a good meal. Based on positive things I heard from friends I decided to give Kaito a try tonight. Kaito is located in the primary commercial hub of Bronxville; there's lots of parking and a lot of shops/restaurants in the area- a great place to walk around on a summer night. But I digress, back to Kaito. The restaurant itself is small but very open and welcoming. The decor is clean - mostly a combination of light and dark wood tones. There's music playing in the background and of course you can't miss the sushi prep station. We decided to start with the pork shumai - it was tasty and came with a spicy mustard on the side. For the main we decided to split three rolls and went with the king crab roll, the kamikaze roll (tuna, yellowtail, and avocado), and the Miya roll (shrimp tempura, avocado, onion, and unagi sauce). Everything tasted super fresh and was presented beautifully. Service was fast and friendly. I had a great dining experience at Kaito and will definitely return when I'm in the mood for sushi.

Eleven delivery drivers waiting for Kaito orders because they ran out of rice... apparently they can't keep up with the takeout demand.
    Emily M.

If you want takeout during Covid, don't order from here as they clearly can't handle it. Pulled up over an hour after placing an order to see eleven delivery drivers all waiting for orders outside. Apparently the restaurant ran out of rice, and are estimating forty more minutes. Over two hours for a takeout order? No thanks.

The staff was friendly and welcoming, which made for a pleasant experience. Parking was convenient, with both street parking and municipal paid lots nearby. As for the food, I thought the sushi was okay. The salmon, scallop and tuna Nigiri were fresh and tasty . They were definitely one bites. The inari was pleasantly sweet, but the rice wasn't packed tightly enough into the fried tofu pocket. The loose, unfilled end made the texture a little off and less enjoyable. The futomaki didn't include the tobiko listed on the menu, which is a typical ingredient in this roll. It also lacked much flavor, so I probably wouldn't order it again. The Unagi was very good. My daughter said I don't eat eel. We also ordered the seafood tempura, which included shrimp, lobster, scallops, and vegetables. The seafood had a light, crisp tempura batter that I enjoyed. The vegetables were less impressive, as the batter was thicker and lacked the delicate, airy texture and crispness in a tempura that which they achieved with the seafood. My daughter ordered the pork katsu curry. The pork was fried nicely and came in a generous portion. The Japanese curry sauce was lighter than what we've had at other restaurants, which she actually preferred. Both entrées were served with miso soup and salad and were good. Most Japanese restaurants you get either or so kudos for giving both. They don't have a full-service bar, but they do offer beer, wine, and sake. Overall, the service and atmosphere were enjoyable, overall I found some bites better than others. The meal was really better than a three but not quite a four too bad you can't give half cause it's definitely a solid 3.5

The Miso Soup, on the other hand, was quite watery... I'm a Miso Soup snob and fairly picky, but this one could use some real help. The salad was actually worse. Some lettuce with a little blob of carrot ginger dressing on it. I got some stuff to-go... my wife and I didn't like the calamari dish (tastes funny), I love the flavor of the beef ribs but it was way too chewy, my wife said Pork Gyoza was very good. The edamame could use some salt IMO. I liked the Chilean Sea Bass too, though I'm glad it was an appetizer. It wasn't the kind of prep that I would want a lot of. Something happened during lunch that kind of disturbed me, though. A tall, lanky Black gentlemen wearing a construction vest walked in. I vaguely heard him asking for Chinese food. The staff told him that it's Japanese food, and be could find Chinese right over on Main Street. They repeated this once or twice, but the man kept asking something. I thought I heard "what did is this? What do you have? What is it?" The staff person kind of brushed him off, motioned to the door and was done with him. He looked incredibly frustrated and it was one of those moments when I wondered if I should have just walked out. The staff saw that I noticed this, and spoke to me about it a couple of times. She claims he was demanding free food. I understand that she was busy. I get that people come in from the street and they can be a pain in the ass. I also acknowledge that she was a small Asian female and may have felt intimidated. But the interaction felt kind of racist, to be honest. It felt like she was very quick to dismiss him, show him the door. I get that this man was unlikely to become one of her better customers... granted. But I don't like the way he was treated, regardless. I would consider returning, but I hope they will consider how that treatment feels to another person.
