Stopped in recently for a quick dinner. There aren't a lot of places to sit - and it wasn't busy - so I was able to order right away. It's pretty small and it seems that the majority of their business might be takeout. I zeroed in on the "three sushi roll" dinner, so I ordered that with a miso soup and a side of seaweed salad. Starting with a very nice green tea, I didn't wait long for everything to arrive. I found everything to be fresh and of good quality. I will definitely order takeout or stop in for another meal when I'm in the area again soon. read more

I got sushi to go for the first time here during quarantine, and who while I cannot speak about the dining experience, to be honest, it seems to be more of a take out sushi place rather than a leisurely dining experience. The sushi to go was yummy. Called, placed an order for a platter of rolls, picked it up, and it held up the drive to New Jersey. The fish was fresh, the variety of rolls were yummy, but the real standout here is their avocado rolls! I normally stray away from vegetarian rolls as most places lack any umami or appeal in their vegetarian sushi rolls, but I was pleasantly surprised with how much flavor and deliciousness this roll was filled with! Maybe it was the ripe avocado? Maybe it was the sesame seeds? I dont know, but it was good! So why the 3 stars? While the rolls were yummy, the fish of good quality, well seasoned sushi rice, and pretty presentation - the rolls broke apart when you lifted them off the tray to eat. Like they did not stay in tact in their cylindrical pieces but it was like nearly every roll had a slit cut into the seaweed preventing them from keeping closed! The bento boxes are decent here! The teriyaki chicken is as expected from a typical Japanese restaurant. They included siu mai dumplings with the bento box, but I wish they had the option for gyoza or other japanese style dumplings. Prices are pretty comparable to most other restaurants. read more

Small, now takeout only, sushi and other limited Asian dishes shop in a northwest Yonkers block of small businesses. Maybe not a destination restaurant but they deliver tasty, quality food on a consistent basis. I've eaten their sushi a couple of dozen times and have never been disappointed. The eel avocado was the best roll, spicy crab was good and the salmon skin was average. The miso soup was mostly broth which was disappointing. This is a good little spot with great lunch specials. I was there twice, while visiting a customer in Yonkers. I would definitely go back if I was in the area. I had the Fried Tofu box one day, and the Tempura Shrimp box another day. Both were great, came with a soup and a salad, all for under 10 bucks. Good food, good service, great price! read more

This restaurant has a website at newtokyohouseyonkers.com that their employees and owners are apparently not aware of. I had an employee argue with me about the pricing of an order because I was going with the website menu and they were insisting I was making stuff up. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I chose this place because it was the closest spot to my hotel. I should have picked another spot. I'm not a big fan of restaurant owners having their kids run around the restaurant while there are guests. The kids were noisy and kicking tables. It got very annoying. I ordered edemame which is a simple dish and it came out brownish. They were probably sitting there for a while before they served it. The sushi came out better. They opened not too long ago, so I figured, let me try it out. First off, it is a little pricey but overall the food is good. You can dine in, pick up and they deliver. I picked up since I live nearby. They accept Visa, MC and Discover, no Amex. Now the food, I ordered the fried calamari, the signature spicy crispy tuna roll and the signature spicy crispy salmon roll. With my order they gave me a free California roll. Theserving size on the calamari was small for the price but was prepared very well. They were not over cooked or rubbery. Nor were they too heavily battered where your eating mostly batter. As for the sushi, both rolls were delicious. If you order from the signature menu the sushi does have a light drizzling of sauce on it. So if your not a fan of additional items on your sushi, order the regular rolls. If your not a sushi fan there are other items on the menu. I plan on going back and will try some of the other menu items. The place is definitely a recommend. read more
