I was in town visiting family and decided to take my sister and her family to eat sushi. I made a reservation about half a week in advance to ensure they could make space for 3 adults and 6 children. We went on Sunday, August 9, 2026. Not sure if they accept reservations for small parties but thankfully we were able to because it is a fairly small space and all the tables were occupied. We kind of rushed to leave after we finished eating because we saw quite a few people waiting for a table. They also seem to have a lot of to-go orders as they were constantly packing orders and before I left, I saw the sushi tickets literally printing non-stop to the point where I saw it start to pile up on the sushi counter. It must be a really popular spot for sushi considering it is in a very unassuming strip mall that doesn't really have many open businesses (at least there is very easy parking). When I walked in, I asked about a sushi boat and I specifically picked this spot after looking at photos of sushi boats and wanted my nieces and nephews to have a fun experience eating one of their favorite foods. The server told me I would have to order at least minimum amount and she'd have to see how many rolls we ordered (definitely wasn't a problem). We must have ordered like 10 rolls and a few appetizers. I can't remember all the rolls but they were all fresh and high quality. We also got a couple nigiri pieces (salmon and squid) along with our Agedashi Tofu and Takoyaki. Everything was absolutely delicious. The only thing was sometimes it took a while to flag down a server to get our teas refilled but not a huge deal as I saw they were all busy at a full restaurant. I've been wanting to try this spot for a while, so I ordered a little bit of everything: miso soup, Tako Su, gyoza, shumai, sashimi appetizer, beef bibimbap, and two sushi rolls -- the S n T and White Tiger Roll. The miso soup came out first and was pretty standard. The Tako Su had large slices of octopus with plenty of cucumbers. It was decent, nothing standout. The gyoza was actually an accidental order because I thought I had ordered shumai. Looking back, I probably should've realized something was off when the server asked if I wanted them steamed or grilled. Ironically, they ended up being one of the better items. I took them home and even cold later on, they were still good. The sashimi appetizer had a nice variety and was probably one of the stronger dishes of the night. Unfortunately, the shumai completely missed the mark. It was very wet -- you can even see it in the photo -- and just not how shumai is supposed to be prepared. Personally, I think Asahi Sushi does this dish far better, including the sauce. The beef bibimbap was also disappointing for me. I love bibimbap served in a scorching hot stone bowl where the rice crisps up and caramelizes at the bottom. This lacked all of that. In my opinion, both Asahi Sushi and Sumo Sushi do bibimbap significantly better. If that's what you're craving, this wouldn't be my recommendation. As for the sushi rolls -- the S n T and White Tiger Roll -- they were just bland. Not terrible, not inedible, but very forgettable. Overall, my experience was okay, but nothing about it stood out enough to make me want to return. The servers were pleasant, but there were no recommendations or guidance offered, and the food never really moved beyond average. I ended up giving this place 2 stars for three main reasons: 1. The servers lacked recommendations or menu guidance. 2. The food overall was bland. 3. There are significantly better sushi options nearby. If you're looking for exceptional sushi, udon, and bibimbap, I'd personally recommend Asahi Sushi instead. It's only about 12 minutes away and, in my opinion, absolutely worth the drive for the quality, presentation, service, and overall experience. read more

It was exactly what I needed and the hot sauce was perfect compliment and added necessary kick. Minus 1 for service. -no one served us after water. Yes it was busy but we felt neglected and we had to track someone to order and ask questions. -no one got us to go boxes or check at the end. Minus 1 for the menu -it was disorganized in the sense they had a whole menu with verbal descriptions and prices like the way it is traditionally, but another menu with just pictures and NO PRICES that DON'T NECESSARILY match up with the verbal menu. We searching all over and still couldn't find it. It shouldn't be like that. Also there was bento box pictured on yelp. I've never had a bad meal and have tried so many different things on their menu. The service is absolutely incredible. We've come here for take out a few times during the pandemic and I hear good things about this place from friends and family and spoilers alert - it's lives up to the hype! Everyone was perfect. The flavors were perfect. Nothing was too salty or bland. The spicy tuna sandwich was super unique and tasty. The cucumber salad wet the appetite nicely at the beginning. The yaki udon texture was nice a chewy and the veg adds healthy and colorful touch and crunch! [yeah I don't overcooked veg] But the star is the sushi. I mean c'mon, it's called sushi kafe for a reason! The rice is special. Special. The texture is has this amazing softness, delicate mess, chewiness..etc. I don't even know how to describe it but it's amazing. Stupendous! Amazing! Delectable! I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Why haven't I discovered this place before? We often frequent the bubble tea cafe next door and see this very unassuming restaurant. Then, one day I looked it up on yelp and found a dish we were searching for for a very long time, omurice. This is literally the only place I've seen it on the menu, so we had to run over here and try it. Worth it! The omurice is a delicious omelette with fried rice. We got the chicken. I think the whole family would enjoy it, so I will have to bring them back. We also tried the fried avocado appetizer stuffed with tuna and crab salad. My daughter reported it was the best thing she'd ever eaten. So good. I imagine we would have to order this item every time we visit. We also tried their okonomiyaki. It had chicken, squid and shrimp. It was very flavorful. I really enjoyed it. We also ordered a sweet potato roll. It was okay, but not as good as the other good. The potato was a bit al dente for my personal taste and not soft enough, but it was still pretty good. I would probably order some different rolls next time. The meal also came with miso and pickled cucumbers which were very tasty. There are so many other things on this menu I really wanted to try. I feel they have some unique offerings that are not found at equivalent restaurants in the area. The staff seemed friendly. It was actually pretty busy for a random weekday at 11:00 AM plus plenty of carry-out orders, which is a good sign for their business. We hope to be back soon to try more dishes. read more

One of the better places I've had in Michigan! My friend and I came here on a Sunday evening, and we were promptly seated. We ordered two rolls and a tempura udon (not pictured). The udon noodles were cooked perfectly, with an excellent chewy texture. The broth was quite flavorful as well. The rolls were both quite tasty also. 2 futomaki added spinach to make it similar to a kimbap. The sushi chef was super flexible and accommodating and made us our very much craved kimbap. We also got the snow cone minus the masago and a firecracker roll less the shrimp. The futomaki rolls were so delicious, loved the addition of the avocado in it as well. They were so good we order 3 to go, they were $12.95/roll. The rolls were a bit pricey, though they were good, especially since I only pay $3/pack at this Korean market in Southfield. The snow cone was also quite delectable, could have eaten many more snow cones and made an entire meal of it even. The fire cracker roll was fantastic and was so piled on with crab salad, it was a mountain of loveliness. The house salad wasn't bad, the dressing wasn't my favorite and didn't have enough ginger essence for me. The sushi chefs were super cool and so accommodating and the waitstaff were really great about quelling our kimbap cravings by talking to the sushi chefs and the chefs for being so amenable to making these very specialized rolls for us. read more

Went there today, ordered a couple rolls, some appetizers and Spicy Yaki Udon noodles - no chicken, extra shrimp. However, when I got home and open the noodles container to make sure there wasn't chicken - I counted... 2 PIECES of cut up shrimp - that's all! I then called and spoke to Donna, who said "you're over exaggerating" dismissing my concerns. She was rude, patronizing and dismissive - constantly interrupting me. The sushi quality as well, isn't what it used to be. Overall, after this experience I will no longer support this local business... Especially after the rude customer service and the fact she hung up on me after basically saying I'm a liar. I paid $14 for greasy noodles with a couple pieces of broccoli and carrots, and a scarce two shrimp. Absolutely rude, especially for a long time customer. Rather than trying to come up with a resolution, my concerns as a paying customer where not important and her opinion took precedence over mine. read more
