We've been dining at this location for years back when it was still called Red Tuna. The new owners have improved the quality of the interior lighting, as well as added a new big screen with revolving images of featured rolls from their menu. The menu is fantastic! Definitely step up for vegetarians in terms of food selection. Now they have veggie gyozas! The ingredients were all very fresh and well prepared. Service was top notch, the chef came by our side of the sushi bar to make sure that we were happy with our menu. Definitely had me smiling and wanting to come back again! The only thing to point out is that this unit has always bad weak air circulation. Because the kitchen is so small in the back, you'll leave the restaurant physically and emotionally happy, but smelling like your dinner. Fantastic for going straight home, but not so sure about first or blind dates. All in all I would still give it 5 stars - Would love it if they could keep up with the quality of food and service in this tough restaurant biz! read more

This is by far my favourite sushi spot ever! Very friendly service, good selection on menu and great tasting sushi! Highly recommend the dragon roll and sunflower roll! Lots of vegetarian options as well as brown rice/black rice for the health conscious customers. [Hole-in-the-Wall Sushi] This closet-sized little sushi joint is easily missable despite being located on a busy stretch of Granville. It's buried in a commercial complex surrounded by a chiropractor, fido store, and various Asian establishments. Despite this, my little red yelp machine told me something good was cookin'. The place is the size of my kitchen - but with better food. There's seating for maybe 12 - the majority being around the sushi bar. Fortunately, I was doing some pre-eating (@ 4:30) for a late dinner so I had free reign of the place. I decided on a red dragon roll and a tuna-avocado roll. I also shared a shoyu ramen with my other half. My first thought was someone here has definitely worked at Sushi Garden or a similar Korean-owned sushi joint. It's not a bad thing. In fact, the fish was quite fresh and the portion sizes were large. The ramen was very tasty and came in a big bowl that could hold a medium-sized watermelon. I finished off my pre-dinner (Dunch? Linner?) with a green tea ice cream. For 3 bucks, i got 2 big scoops. +1 for value! Prices are very decent compared to your average sushi joint in these parts. There's also very decent pricing on weekday lunch specials. Ambience is something this place is lacking. The walls are plastered with random Japanese-style decor most likely from Daiso. Service was quite good but as expected as we were the only one in the place. All in all, I was quite satisfied with my experience here. Called ahead and thx to a previous, ordered the deep fried roll, basically a cali roll but with its outside deep fried just right, not too hard or soft. And sprinkled w/ its house spicy sauce, and black sesame seeds. Second roll is the caterpillar roll, which ordinarily is hum0hum or whatever, but the thickness of the avocado on topped, w/ deep fried tempura, really makes you want to come back again and try the rest of the deleesh rolls. each roll 8 pieces, under $14 including taxes!!! threw in a toonie, and glad i did lol Strictly a takeout place, despite 2 small tables and a row of seats at the sushi bar. free parking in front, though watch out for rush hour restrictions. accept all cards. they deliver in the area. read more

After seeing such great reviews, i have been dying to try this place but found myself a little bit disappointed with the food. Came here for takeout and ordered enough for dinner and lunch starting with the tempura bento that included beef teriyaki, tempura, rice, miso soup and cali roll. This bento was one of the better items as it was a good value and everything tasted good! Their hot roll combo with spicy salmon, spicy chopped scallop and spicy california was not hot at all with only a drizzle of spicy atop the rolls leading to great disappointment. Their granville roll was only okay lacking in the chopped shrimp that was advertised. The worst thing we ordered was the chicken yakisoba. It was greasy, with burnt chicken, and clumped together with mediocre noodles. On a brighter note, their chop chop roll was great! With spicy tuna chopped up in the middle and chopped scallop on top, it delivered in both flavour and value. Being 6 dollars, i also expected more than four skimpy slices of sashimi although both tasted very fresh but their tuna tataki salad, although small also presented delicious and wonderfully grilled tuna in a delicious ponzu. Overall, the prices are not really high but the amount of actual protein reflects this. The chicken yakisoba was one of the worst i've had and the portion of sashimi was astonishing. The rolls are not bad but a little thick on the rice. Their lunch bentos are a good deal though and would recommend this if planing to visit. Not bad, but not amazing. read more

I ordered the take out this evening, everything considering the price, is as expected. Pretty good deal but not the very top sushi quality one would expected from a top rated sushi restaurant. The Toro sashimi is pretty delicious and I do enjoy their Alaska roll. One thing that bothers me is that I ordered the tempura but is missing in my order. I am not quite sure if they are busy and forgot but they did charged me for it and is not a part of my take out! Hence I am being overcharged by $15 for my take out orders! Hidden gem! If you are those adventerous people that like trying special rolls in Japanese restaurants and want them at a slightly lower price, THIS IS THE PLACE. Approximately $1-$2 less in price than other sushi joint. I went today and I was in a rush that I forgot to take pictures. Their rolls looks sooooo delicious! I tried the white dragon roll (dynamite roll x cream cheese) - SOOO GOOD OMG, would order again and tried the double spicy roll - I like it but probably like to try other rolls next time. So many other special rolls to try and I cannot wait to come back. Small space if you are eating in, maximum maybe group of 4s. They have bar seats if you are coming alone. The restaurant is korean owned seems like and they have korean music on. Their service is very fast and they know what they are doing. This place closes early at 9:30pm - so come early! read more

Ordered delivery from Sushi Wow through SkipTheDishes since it's close by my boyfriend's place. I got a negitoro and kappa maki roll, chopped scallops roll and spicy tuna roll. The taste was just average, nothing that really wowed me unfortunately. Rice was a little bit on the bland side so I ended up using some soy sauce. Only reason I'm giving it a 4 star was because the spicy tuna roll has no taste to it and just has sriracha drizzled on top. Otherwise I have no complaints and would order from them again since they're convenient and one of the better sushi places around the area. Price was decent for what I got. read more

Ordered delivery from here. Food looked good, started to eat my beef yakisoba. Thought I had a bit of onion from the outer layer that you can't chew through. Started digging lots of this stuff out of my dish. Some bits were tiny, some over an inch by 3 inches. When I pulled it out, looked like plastic. Called to complain and sent an email with a picture. When they called us back, they insisted it was fish flakes, and that they put them in all there dishes. I asked why they would do this for a beef dish, and why is there mention of this? Do be warned, if you don't like fish flakes on your food, tell them when you order and check your food closely. read more

Been here a few times now. You get quality and quantity for your buck which is awesome! I always enjoy their roll combos, not just because the rolls are tasty but the price is just unreal. I'm usually not a fan of yam rolls, but I had them here and it was great. They actually tempura the yams to a very crispy texture, which is unlike any other yam rolls I had. The regular rolls(dynamite, Cali, etc...) are pretty big as well. The option to customize the rice in the sushi is a feat, as well as making certain rolls spicy. The specialty rolls are delicious, but sometimes they are too saucy. Great for a couple of bites, but after a while it gets soggy any overwhelming. Example would be the deep fried roll... it's like a deep friend Cali roll with a some sweet sauces on it, even a hint of honey mustard too. I am thoroughly impressed with this place. Consistent with the freshness of the fish, I was blown away each time I went there. I personally don't care much for their Combos, but their Sushi Rolls, Lunch Boxes, sashimi, nigiris...oh mai! Sushi Wow sits exactly at a "pretty good" for me. The sunomono salad was excellent, but the rolls were the typical 10 bucks a pop ~*~crazy rolls~*~. Sushi Wow is yet another restaurant to put most of their effort into these wild and crazy rolls which have too much going on to really appreciate any single flavour. Don't get me wrong, I love creativity and there is nothing like chowing down on a roll that's swaddled in mayo and tempura batter, but that shouldn't be the backbone of a sushi restaurant. I would love to come back and try more of their menu. One thing to consider is this is NOT a place for large groups. There are two tables in the entire restaurant (one sits four, the other sits two) and the rest of the seating is bar only. read more

Been going here consistently for a year-ish now and they consistently have been good. For what is in the Marpole area, they hit the right spot. I typically get the sushi wow combo which is a yam tempura roll - 8 pieces, a Cali roll - 8 pieces and a tuna roll - 6 pieces and a miso soup, all for $6.25 at lunch time. For that price, its very hard to compare anything around the Marpole area. My other favorite rolls are the salmon/avocado or the yam/avocado roll, each at $3.75. Good service, good prices, consistent quality. Not open on Mondays though. read more

I love authenticity, but i also love it when people get creative with their food, and this place is the creative funky kind. I have been to Sushi Wow on a couple occasions and while I was quite pleased the first time around, my second visit two days ago didn't work out so well. The plain udon (which my daughter always orders) offers maybe 50-60% of the noodles that other places offer... minus half a star for that. I had ordered a red dragon roll and toro sashimi. The red dragon roll was disappointing as it was supposed to contain prawn tempura, salmon and avocado. What I ended up getting was a glorified dynamite roll with a couple sauces a sliver or two of the salmon and avocado. It definitely didn't look anything like the picture... I did find the toro sashimi pretty good however and the tuna sashimi from my wife's bento was decent too. Our server was pretty good coming by to refill our tea on a couple of occasions. If I could give it 3.5 stars I would have...but 4 stars is too much of a stretch. When I come back I will likely lean towards the sashimi and try the ramen... read more

When we were almost done the kids asked if we can order another Snow White... so we did, plus a Marpole roll. My point is that the food is so good we kept ordering. Haha read more

Came here for lunch as I was in the Granville area and needed something to go. The to go over took a bit longer even though there wasn't anyone in the eatery and or ordering take out. I got the cucumber roll and avocado roll. Neither rolls were rolled properly and they actually fell apart, therefore, my rolls became a salad bowl. They only included one Soy Pack which others give you a pack per roll. The roll itself tasted good and they used good avocados. Prices were reasonable like other places. read more

I ordered the chicken teri don ($4.95), the Wow combo ($5.95 consisting of a yam roll, California roll and tuna roll), wild sockeye salmon sashimi, salmon avocado roll, negitoro roll and spider roll. The chicken teri don and Wow combo were special pricing before 4pm, I believe and are great value. The rolls were very good. It had a great filling-to-rice ratio.
