Dad & I love sushi, and we were excited to see that another option had opened up for us in town. We started out with the miso soup, which was OK. We ordered three rolls, scallop nigiri, and upside down shrimp. We were disappointed with the upside down shrimp. We've had them elsewhere and they just didn't taste that good. For our next order, we ordered two more rolls plus a tako (octopus) nigiri and another scallop nigiri. It was really all just OK. The service was pretty good. They had a much larger service staff than the poor individual that has to wait all the tables at IOU. We were impressed with the size of the restaurant. There was a big sushi rolling station & counter, and a lots of tables of varying sizes. The tables and chairs were all nice, heavy wood. There were some large tables, too, so it would be a good place to bring a group. The bathroom was very nice. We had an OK experience here... but for the money I'd much rather eat my all-you-can-eat sushi at YoiTomo or IOU (in that order). read more

One of the best sushi deals in town! Basically $14 or $19 (specialty rolls included) for all you can eat sushi! The quality is about as good as you're going to find anywhere in the valley and these guys' rice is always cooked perfectly. This is nice because so many other places can't pull this off! The service is ok, not really that friendly but good enough. I would recommend getting there early for lunch, it fills up pretty quick around noon. Bring your appetite and get ready for sushi town! We had a party of 11 tonight. After everyone arrived we waited 25 mins just for someone to take our order. Half the group ordered entrees (not sushi) they were supposed to receive soup and salad but didn't until we asked. Once our order was finally in, they brought out 8 of 16 rolls. We waited, and waited and waited for the other half of our group to get our food, 30 mins later our waitress came over to ask how everything tasted, I told her we didn't even have all our food. We waited another 15 mins and the waitress came over and told us they thought they already made the other 8. I showed her our 5 empty plates and said obviously we did not. We waited over 45 mins between the time half our order was delivered and the other half. The first half of the group had completely finished eating before the rest of the group got their food!!! We then sat there with empty drinks while we ate. We paid for all you can eat but were so frustrated after the other half received our order we ate and left, didn't order more. When asked how our meal was I told her we were super frustrated with how long we waited, she had the audacity to tell me they were busy..... yeah no, she just forgot about order and we paid the price. Overall sushi was good but because of the poor service we won't be back any time soon. read more

Second time eating here. The first experience I remember being much bI'd give this a 2.5 if I could. The food was ok, not really good, and not bad. The service was the big kicker...she was nice, but when I asked if they had beer on tap, she didn't know. Do you know how bad you have to be for me to rate you a 1 star? i always try to give places the benefit of the doubt but i couldn't find ONE thing to like about this place. First off, the service is sooo incredibly horrible and careless. I was not ONCE approached!!! I had to either stand up and get the attention of the servers or make awkward eye contact to ask her to come over. I came in one hour before close and This was my first time here, I wasn't explained the menu (which doesn't have appetizers included in the AYCE even though it is..) which was confusing. What's so funny is that the servers didn't start becoming attentive until i was about to leave and then they were up my ass about paying the bill lol. "Whenever you're ready." as i'm halfway thru my meal. The miso soup was so cold i asked for a second and told them to please microwave it. The "house salad" is literally a bowl of cabbage only with white sauce on top of it. Had to ask for more dressing because it was literally dry cabbage..?? The sushi was the absolute worst sushi i've ever had in my life. They gave me salmon with black spots on it. The salmon was tasteless. The raw fish was room temp and the sushi rice was cold and dry. one of my rolls got soooo drenched in some watery teriyaki sauce that it ruined the roll next to it because it practically flooded my plate. Even the wasabi is cheap. The service is probably careless because the establishment itself is careless. And i can sympathize with busy servers or servers who are just having an off day but no, they had one other guest in the building. Was never asked how things were, if i needed a refill, or any sauce. OMG. Epically bad idea to come here tonight. We've been here before and the sushi is very mediocre but the AYCE price is good at $18.95/pp. We were nearby doing some shopping so thought we'd just eat there. Our first order took over 30 minutes and our second order was closer to 45 minutes. The sushi was meh and the service, albeit friendly, was dreadfully slow. The hot sake was room temp. The best thing we had was the hot tea. And the poor gals who barely spoke English could not operate the credit card system - took one of them over 10 minutes to check one couple out while attempting to manually enter the #. Thank goodness we had cash - we rarely use it but this was essential for getting out of there before bedtime. There was another table ahead of us checking out, also paying with a credit card. We ordered some nigiri~ and then we began to enjoy the special rolls which were on C menu. Las vegas was the best. We had a group of 6 people for the all you can eat sushi dinner special. All of us were 22-23 years old and they reviewed our ID's multiple times before serving us sakè. We order about 10 rolls for the table and recieved about 6 of them after reminding the server multiple times. When the sushi came it was only on 2 plates for the table and we also had to ask for side plates multiple times as well. I would give this experience a 0/5 star if possible... safe to say we will NEVER be going back. read more

This business cancelled an order made via door dash simply stating "they arent accepting orders at this time" which could make sense from a doordash partnership standpoint but even attempting to call directly for pickup, no answer. This is @1230 during open business hours refusing service and declining to answer calls. When a business like myself plans a large lunch and banks on this being available, it really is NOT a good experience for the customer. I want to love this place and 80% of me does. The salad is AMAZING. Shredded cabbage and the house dressing is boarder-line addictive. The AYCE is a great choice. I'm personally obsessed with the King Kong roll and my husband loves the Godzilla. When it comes to Nigiri though they're incredibly rice heavy. Now, I know a lot of sushi places do this with AYCE but it absolutely drives me crazy when they do. The hand rolls are hit or miss. Sometimes they're perfect and sometimes the seaweed gets too soft and holds no crisp because they take a while to be delivered to your table. I suggest eating at the bar when you can because that's the best for receiving your food immediately. Overall I like Sushi Ya. It is unfortunate that "all you can eat" causes folks to give praise simply because large amounts of food can be consumed for a flat rate. It is also unfortunate that offering "all you can eat" seems to give a restaurant permission to provide inferior quality. Walking into sushi ya for our first time this evening was a pleasant surprise. The decor is simple but modern and clean. The staff wears all black and they all were busy working and while not overtly friendly, they were pleasant. The menu was clear, easy to understand, but they had the "rules of engagement" for selecting the all you can eat option. This puts me on the defense. It tells me you are going to try and fill me with rice with traces of fish on them to buffer the profit margins. But, remembering the reviews here on yelp, I had fair warning that the rice was an issue. After determining that all you can eat was, indeed, a financially sound prospect for me (since I really like sushi and can eat a lot with or without having a flat rate for an endless supply of food). I made my selections, my husband and children made theirs and we waited. We watched the restaurant fill up quickly. It was clearly a favorite on a Friday night. And it was clear the all you can eat was also the favorite. We had ordered tempura appetizers as well and when they arrived, while the presentation was appealing there was simply no flavor present except for a hint of oil beginning to turn. It wasn't in your face bad, just a hint of it. The dipping sauce was flavorless (we used soy sauce instead) the batter was heavy and flavorless. The shrimp and vegetables were flavorless. Our boys sashimi arrived, our daughters Barney rubble roll arrived all with lovely presentation. and my husbands and I received our salad that came with the all you can eat. It was coleslaw. When did that custom begin? Coleslaw to whet my appetite for my yellowtail? At least the coleslaw had some flavor. And I would have appreciated it and even enjoyed it had I ordered steak, or ribs. Then the all you can eat orders arrived. LOTS of rice. Massive amounts. With, you guessed it, NO flavor. And zero presentation. The fish was cut sloppily. And not created equal with the cuts of sashimi my sons had (although their cuts were oversized, yes I am an American who doesn't always want my order super sized). Even though I was famished, even though I ordered what I normally could eat on my own with normal amounts of rice with my nigiri, I couldn't finish. The flavorless, overtly sticky, massive rice I was forced to endure with each bite I took was continuing to expand in my stomach and clearly accomplished what the "rules" set out to do, curbed my appetite. We are, as a family, who drove all the way from west Nampa (because we no longer have even decent sushi let alone stellar sushi) sorely disappointed and will not be back. I will state clearly that we are not afraid of becoming sick but we cannot spend our hard to come by dollars put aside for our occasional family splurge on sushi at this restaurant. Great lunch deal on all you can eat sushi, they seem to have really good quality salmon and the tuna is sometimes hit and miss, at least how it is sliced. The uNagi is also very good and I think it compares pretty well with the other all you can eat sushi place in downtown Boise over by Trader Joe's. We use to go here because their all you can eat is cheapest in town. Nice place. We do like their rolls but when you do nigiri, not so much, rice is so thick & less meat. For as much as you spend for a lunch All-You-Can-Eat price at Yoitomo ($18.99), you can get the full selection here at a Sushi Ya dinner. We've come here several times to eat, and while the rolls are delicious and there are many options, the service has always been meh. They're usually pretty good about coming around to pick up our orders for more sushi, but when they are busy the servers tend to overlook it and I have to get their attention. We constantly have to remind them to refill our drinks, even when they aren't busy. The last few times they've only refilled our drinks once during our visit, and that was only because we asked them to (and the glass is CLEARLY empty...). If there service were a little bit more on top of things, this place would definitely be getting 5 stars. Food = 5 stars. Service = 2 stars. read more

The one in Twin was my first experience with sushi, so I was really happy to have one come to Boise. Introduced my kids to it here as well, because, frankly, the price was right. Its fun to have all you can eat with my buds, but my kids only like certain rolls, and they are about $5 each, so its cheaper for us to go that route with the kids around. I liked the soup, and the tempura veggie roll is really yummy. No problems with the staff and the guy behind the sushi bar was sweet to my kids while he was rolling! :D I know I'll be back! read more

They have a couple inspiring rolls like the Rocky mountain, but most are pedestrian and too reliant on sauces. You're definitely not going to write home about how this place gives Sukiyabashi Jiro a run for his money. What makes this place a four star place for me is their above average nigiri selection, consistently quick and decent service, and most importantly, games-free all you can eat. You're not going to get the age old trick of stuffing massive scoops of rice under a paper thin slice of fish type deal here. Mysterious missing rolls from your clearly marked order sheet? Never. Not even the early check instead of a second order sheet trick. In fact, the one time I actually made it passed 2 rounds, I about barfed some raw fish when they gave me another order sheet to order another. If I had to nitpick, I guess a good classic spider roll, dynamite roll, dragon roll and a more loaded shrimp tempura roll would be nice. But hey, the fish has always been fresh, the price is really just right, and all in all, I leave satisfied all the time. Good job. read more

I absolutely love this place. I enjoy eating sushi on a regular basis and have tried several places in the valley. Sushi ya tops them all for quality and price. At $18.99 for all you can eat rolls is unbeatable. If you can eat, you will get your money's worth. Service used to be awful but lately they've been better. I go to sushi ya at least once a month and eat about 6 rolls of sushi. Definitely a win for the valley in sushi! I really love this place as a fan of Japanese and Sushi. I think their offering of all you can eat sushi @ 13.95 is astounding, and the quality of the sushi is quite good. The only downside is that when you are a big eater, and order what they suspect might be too much sushi, the waitresses give you a speech about it, and tell you their manager gets them in trouble if any sushi is wasted. IMHO dont offer an all you can eat sushi and then act freaked out when someone decides to order alot of sushi. read more

The last few times we've been in the quality has gone way down all the fish has come out warm and tough went from 2-3 times a month to no more no matter what. The staff seems to not care anymore they got their customer base then gave up. There are still a couple good rolls still that we love but won't waste our money on this establishment. If a party of two comes in and orders 2 "all you can eat" then we shouldnt be left waiting so long after the first round of rolls that we are starving again. It took 40 minutes to get our second round after finishing the first. The Las Vegas roll was saturated in grease(shouldnt be even it deep fried) and I'm pretty sure my Godzilla roll was cream cheese instead of albacore. I dont even have time to sit and eat for this long. Been here for 2 hours. Definitely wont be coning back and will be warning people to stay away. read more

I used to love Sushi Ya but their restaurant has gone down hill. Every time I come they've gotten worse. The workers aren't very friendly and it takes a long time to get your food. I would not recommend this for any important dinners because the service is very spotty. Hopefully management can get back on track! read more
