What a hidden gem! I found this restaurant just walking around the mall and decided to just go in. The place looks so cool and also offers patio seating. We came on the perfect day because on Mondays and Tuesdays every sushi roll is only $12. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable, he provided some great menu suggestions. I visited based on the excellent reviews, but unfortunately my experience didn't live up to the 4.7-star rating. The restaurant is beautiful and well-designed, but the food and service didn't justify the premium prices. The sushi was decent, but basic rolls priced around $17-18 felt significantly overpriced for the quality. The biggest issue was service. I ordered a specific imported IPA from the menu but was served a completely different beer without being told or given the option to choose something else. I only discovered the mistake near the end of my meal, and I was still charged for it. My sushi also arrived without ginger or wasabi until I asked, and an 18% gratuity was automatically added to the bill for a party of two, which felt inappropriate given the level of service. The restaurant has a lot of potential, but better attention to detail and more transparent service would go a long way. Based on this visit, I don't think the experience justified either the prices or the exceptionally high rating. read more

First time at a Pubbelly and it's definitely competition for Kabuki since it is right across from each other. I did enjoy the dishes we selected but the crispy rice was a bit hard and chewy. My favorite was the salmon roll, melt in your mouth kind of good. I will have to come back to try their other rolls and menu items. read more

Went for lunch right when they opened. Beautiful restaurant! Very spacious and pretty decor. The waitress was nice and friendly, gave us recommendations. We got the tuna pizza appetizer (good but not worth the price) and three rolls to share between 3 people (see photos). Fave to least fave: waygu beef roll, rockshrimp roll, then acebichado roll. All the food was yummy, but the prices are pretty high, with each item being $18+. If I were to go back, it would only be for a happy hour (most sushi places I go are also only for happy hour). read more

Was walking down Clematis around 6 on a Saturday evening when we saw this place and thought why not try it out. It wasn't too crowded, and we were seated right away. Our service was perfect. So attentive, friendly and fast. The vibe is really cool inside as well, inviting but modern lighting and decor. I honestly thought this place was just sushi, but our server explained it's Latin-Japanese fusion, which instantly got me excited. I started with a watermelon basil margarita from the bar, which was decent. We ordered the spicy chili edamame and kimchi fried rice to start-- both were addictingly good. The fried rice had pork belly and pineapple that added the perfect mix of citrusy sweetness and richness. Everything came out incredibly fast, too. Our sushi roll wasn't far behind; we tried the rockshrimp tempura, which, was fire. The filling had mango and citrus that gave it a little ceviche-style twist, and that creamy sauce on top? And that creamy sauce on top?? So good! I also loved that they have QR codes on the tables so you can pay for your own items right from your phone. Game changer for group dinners. My girlfriends and I go out once a month and we rotate who picks the place, and I saw that Pubbelly Sushi had recently opened on Clematis and seemed to have a great happy hour! So I suggested it and we came this past week! Upon arriving, the restaurant is very nicely decorated! The bathrooms were cool too (and clean!) We were greeted by our server, Eric, who took great care of us all evening! He gave us a rundown of the happy hour, which is as great as it looked! First, it's from 4-7 on weekdays, which is usually not typical (only until 6 most places), and all of their Pubbelly Rolls were $14!!! The happy hour also includes discounted drinks and apps! For starters, we ordered the spicy chili edamame and the blistered shishito peppers. I couldn't stop eating the shishito peppers - they were perfect! Then for dinner, Eric recommended the Acevichado Roll (normally $21) and all three of us each ordered one! It had to be one of my favorite sushi rolls I've ever had honestly! Wow! We also ordered the Kimchee Fried Rice to share and it was so so good. Perfectly cooked rice and egg! I would definitely come back! And I hope it's really soon! I'd love to try all their other rolls and apps! I'm keeping in mind that this location just recently opened, but I was expecting a bit more. I've been to their South Beach spot and remember the atmosphere and food quality being better there. This dining room felt overly bright and quite loud; some dimmer lighting and better acoustics would really help. Service was good overall, but like others have noted, the automatic gratuity wasn't appreciated and takes away from the experience. Food-wise, a couple dishes missed the mark. The tomato salad appetizer wasn't enjoyable, especially with the large cube of tofu (at least I think it was tofu) that wasn't listed in the description. The wagyu beef tartare roll also had odd textures and flavors that didn't work well. On the positive side, we loved the butter crab roll and the sake aburi roll -- both were excellent. For dessert, we sampled the ice creams. The black sesame and coco & yuzu flavors were fantastic, but the dulce de leche with wasabi was a miss for us. If we go back, I'd like to try some items from the grill, since we may have just ordered the wrong things. The ambience was very basic definitely not a good spot for a date night . The food was just OK. We had the tuna pizza which was very onion flavor. Then we had an eel roll which was very skimpy as you can see in the picture. The short rib wontons were the best thing that we had on the menu. A friend and I popped into Pubbelly for happy hour drinks and sushi. The restaurant is relatively new to Clematis and, in my opinion, a welcome addition. The happy hour menu is very reasonable and the cocktails are tasty. We got the spicy edamame which was tasty and not too spicy. It came in a massive portion that we couldn't finish. We got a couple rolls. I think the Achevichado roll was my favorite, but the salmon and tuna were good too. Our server was friendly and attentive. We got a visit from the GM (I think) too, and he made sure everything was taken care of. It's always nice to have service like that. read more

My husband and I made a reservation for Pubbelly for 4:30 because they are a relatively new restaurant. The reservation ended up not being necessary as the restaurant was empty when we got there. We were very impressed with the decor and artwork on the walls. We tried a good sample of the dishes served as well as 2 cocktails -a passion fruit mojito and old fashioned. Both drinks were delicious. As for the food, we ordered big eye tuna crispy rice and lobster and crab donuts, hamachi roll, tuna crispy miso nigiri and Korean wings. The hamachi roll was disappointing flavor wise, but everything else was good. The lobster and crab donuts were a big highlight. The prices are high- ex. the classic California roll is $14...Also, their nigiri selections are very limited. They do not offer regular nigiri, only 4 specialty options which were also $14 per 2 pieces. Although the food was pretty good, it definitely isn't a restaurant we will return to any time soon due to their prices, but it was nice to give it a try. read more

This restaurant recently opened up. Went in for happy hour. Happy hour is all through the restaurant. Everything had good flavor. There are some things they arre still working on due to just opening. The shishito peppers were good but it needed more char and less dressing. The pork bao buns were good. The fried rice needs to be more fried less soggy,it still had good flavor. As someone who loves the Miami locations, I am posting this because I want this to do well. I was very excited this was coming to west Palm, but the experience disappointed me. The music vibe was off, like Caribbeanish, unsure, just not fitting for the restaurant. It also felt very rushed, and it was too bright. The butter crab roll is always amazing. This new place is really different, not what we expected at all. Michelle was our waitress and she was great. They charge a 20% service charge which we don't care for, but do give military discounts which is excellent. Prices are on the high side, and charging $1 for eel sauce is really unnecessary. Went as a foursome on a slow Sunday night. Our waitress was lovely, but we had a gift for finding all the things they were out of. They had run out of Sapporo beer and the domestic cloudy sake. They offered the clear sake instead, but only by the glass (if you have enough to serve 4 people a glass, why is the bottle not available?). The espresso machine was broken, so no espresso martinis, and the grilled octopus had clearly escaped, lol. I did enjoy the food, it was similar cost to what's around. The salmon was pleasant and not fishy. The mixed drinks were good too. I was upset about the auto grat. When I asked the waitress about it, she said she only sees a tiny portion and that most of it goes to back of house. I tipped extra so she had more, but reading these reviews I'm starting to believe I was mislead. I may come back for the black sesame ice cream, but possibly not a whole meal. read more

We had a really disappointing experience at Pubbelly Sushi. We were seated and then completely ignored for about 20 minutes. Multiple servers walked right past us, made eye contact, and never once checked in, brought water, or even acknowledged us. We kept waiting, thinking someone would eventually come over, but no one ever did. At that point, it felt awkward and frustrating just sitting there with zero service, so we ended up getting up and walking out. A restaurant can have good food, but if the service is this bad, it ruins the whole experience. Definitely not what we expected, and we won't be coming back. read more

Been to the West Palm location a few times. While the food is good, its actually way overpriced for the portions. I spent almost $200 for my wife and daughter last night and we left feeling like we needed to go some snacks. But what bothered me tremendously was at the end of the service. I asked for the bill, the server came with it on the POS terminal, no paper receipt so I could review it. She stayed hovering over me while I read it, which was very uncomfortable. Secondly, I noticed they had already placed a 20% service fee, which I strongly oppose, a tip is at my discretion. On top of that the server told me that "by the way, the 20% service fee, I only get half of that so I would appreciate an additional tip", again, she stayed hovering over me. So, I needed to add another 10%. In essence, I paid 30% additional for my meal. Ridiculous, a scam if you ask me. I am NOT going back. I hate to be taken advantage of and there are so many options to eat in that same neighborhood. There are two Japanese restaurants in the same block that are just as good and have amazing food for about 50% less, when adding the forced tipping. My friends and I (table of 3) went to Pubbelly a few weeks ago and might have gone with too high of an expectation. We have been to the one in Miami so we were very excited all summer for the opening of one in our backyard but it was not what we had hoped for. When we first sat down it took the waiter atleast 15 minutes to get us water and take our drink orders. We also ordered edamame to start. The edamame came out before our drinks so by the time we had finished our edamame we still had not seen the waiter again. Next we ended up asking another waiter to get our drinks and where our waiter was at to start ordering appetizers at the minimum. After about 40 minutes our drinks came out with our first round of food. The room was very very loud so we really couldn't hear each other but since the one in Miami has such good food we figured it was worth the wait. Aside from the short rib dumplings we were really let down by everything that came out including the service we were provided as well as the drinks were tough to even drink. We are hoping it's just due to the restaurant being newly opened but overall our first experience at this location was really a let down as a whole. read more

Server was fine, we were only two people and didn't get drinks. They use a QR code on the table for the bill and i asked for a paper check. She then brought me a check w the QR code on it. Dishes overlap and are far too similar; they lack flavor and personality; and come out way too quickly (we're talking 50 seconds from when you order).
