I'd forgotten that I'd bookmarked this restaurant many years back when we'd gone to Fran's chicken a couple doors down quite some time ago. We'd been told then that they were very popular for takeout with the college students. Don't be deterred by the outside -- fading paint and a strange strip of run down looking stores. Inside, was fine. We were passing by and decided to stop for lunch. Recent photos showed they had some inside seating. Turns out, there's a community table with 8 high top seats and 2 low two-top tables. We both ordered from the lunch specials section. You had a choice of soup or salad with either 2 or 3 rolls. We both chose salad -- mixed greens with a few cuke slices and ginger dressing. Id probably go with soup next time as I'm not a fan of frisée lettuce. But my husband liked it. For my two rolls I chose (from their select list) their shrimp tempura and a California roll. Both rolls were larger than expected. The shrimp one was excellent. Both had cucumber and avocado. They had a bit of pickled ginger and wasabi on the side. Soy sauce was on the table. Prices were extremely reasonable. Food was good. I'd definitely come back here again!

I've taken out sushi from Sushi Yan a few times before and the sushi was always fresh, delicious and reasonably priced. I saw they had sushi boats available on their menu and decided to give them a try for a party I was having last Saturday night. We got the XL sushi boat as well as a nigiri and sashimi boat. I was estimating it would be good for 15-18 people, and it may have been a little over, but that just meant we had some sushi for the next day. Everyone thought it was a fabulous display, and more importantly, all the sushi was amazing. Someone described the sashimi as "buttery," and all the rolls were excellent. It was a nice mix of fish and it really was a hit. I must have had to say "Sushi Yan" 25 times that night when asked where it was from. Would definitely recommend for takeout sushi, but would also give them your business if you want to have any kind of sushi boat for a party our get together. Thank you again!

A whole in the wall sushi place. Sushi yan had a variety of options for rolls and different appetizers for a reasonable price. Being a vegetarian, I was happy to have a few options to choose from. I got the avocado roll and it tasted fresh, I can't speak for any of the other rolls however, my friends seemed to enjoy them. The restaurant had a few tables to sit and eat at however, it seemed more like a to-go place.

From the picture from left to right I got a spicy salmon roll then the middle is a tuna hand roll and the right with the mango on top is a crazy tuna roll. I highly recommend the crazy tuna roll as well as this place definitely at least try a couple of things on the menu.

I wasn't fond of their food, but this is the place to go if you are looking for quick and inexpensive sushi. Most of their sushi is around $5 for 3 pieces and All the food in the picture was $40 and change. Will I go back? Probably not, but it's worth more than what you pay. Where can you get sushi for less than $2 a piece these days? Not even at Publix and it's definitely better than Publix.

Outside of Sushi Yan. It's in a little non-descript strip mall.

On Saturday my girlfriend and I decided we wanted sushi. We always like to try new local places. So I pulled up the Yelp app to find good sushi places in the area (Boca). Up came Sushi-Yan. It had a 4 star review and a fair number of people even rated it as high as five stars. On top of that the prices were very reasonable. Good enough. I called Sushi Yan to order for pickup. The phone was quickly answered by a friendly employee who efficiently took my order. I ordered the Green Dragon Roll, the Full House Combo, the Salmon Roll and two bowls of Miso soup. The total with tax came out to about $34 which was pretty reasonable considering the amount of food we ordered. They said the order would be ready in about 15 minutes. We waited the appropriate amount of time and then drove over to Sushi Yan. It's located in a little non-descript strip mall not too far from Mizner Park. We went in wearing masks. They had put up "shielding" across the counter but we realized it wasn't plastic but actually just saran wrap. Hey, if it works. Our order was ready for us. I paid using Apple Pay and we took the food and went home. Overall, the order and pickup process were pretty painless. When we got home we opened the food. In addition to everything we ordered, we also got two complimentary egg rolls (I think they come with the Full House Combo). Everything looked good. Unfortunately, the taste was only very average. It wasn't bad sushi but it really didn't stand out in any way. Our usual place for quick sushi in Boca is Sushi Yama. However, the last time we ordered from there it wasn't so good. The sushi from Sushi Yan is at least as good as from Sushi Yama but quite a bit cheaper. So Sushi Yan wasn't bad but it was just nothing special. Overall, in my opinion, Sushi Yan rates a 3-star review. The ordering and pickup process were painless and their prices are very good. However, the quality and taste of the sushi was only average. If I needed a quick sushi hit and was in the area, I might go there. However, other than that I'll probably continue my sushi search.

Amazing little mom and pop place that has great sushi and service. Perfect for take out or casual dine in. Their lunch specials can't be beat. Consistently fresh fish.

Menu in the restaurant is great!

Wow .. wow.. wow.. Sushi yan, a hidden gem of CHEAP SUSHI, I'm talking seriously, 5 dolars cheap quality handmade sushi. The restaurant doesn't looks good, it's a small place and in a plaza which is kind of abandoned, but dont judge the book by its cover. This is really good sushi. Ordered a Jb roll and a philly roll. Both were so delicious, had to order an extra philly roll. You get freaking 8 rolls for 4.95 dolars.. this is a CHEAP EAT of heaven. The customer service, is great, the owners are both chinese and always with that kind smile on their faces giving you the options and explaining everything at their pace (their english is understandable, a little low volume but super cool). Even the owner gave me a try of a pumpkin spice rice cake which was great. I really enjoyed talking with them. It gives you that nice energy. I ordered to go but they have like 4 or 5 tables which you can sit and enjoy with such greatness sushi. Suit yourselves with the pictures!!

Reservations are required well in advance, and there are 2 seatings daily, 6pm and 9pm, each hosting roughly 7 couples, which keeps the atmosphere serene and intentional. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by the entire staff and seated immediately. We were the first to arrive, so I took the opportunity to admire and take pictures of the space before others arrived. The interior is stunning, breathtaking, and transports you straight to Japan! There's a beautiful private room the back which holds up to 8 guests and the personal chef and low to the group Japanese style seating. On the night we dined, we enjoyed an 18 course omakase tasting, paired with 4 sake tastings. The four sake selections were all exceptional, smooth and refined and unforgettable, even though I regret not capturing each of their names. The meal began with one of the most delicious bites I've ever had, king crab served over a warm and decedent custard. From there each course built on the last. We tasted a variety of salmons, tunas; some completely raw, and some aged to perfection for 14 days. Along with snapper, beautifully grilled Chilean sea bass, and many other crafted dishes. I tried Uni for the first time, and I finally understand why it is referred too as 'ice cream of the sea'. The taste, texture and aroma were all exquisite, creamy, delicate and truly memorable. The experience ended with a warm miso soup, followed by a refreshing melon wedge, and a red bean ice cream sandwiched between two very flaky wafers. Every single bite left me in awe. The chefs knife skills, the precision, the presentation, the simplicity of certain dishes which still packed powerful flavors, it all showcased the artistry of true Japanese fine dining. This was more than dinner, it was an experience. My absolute favorite dish? The A5 Wagu. It was heave on earth, melt in your mouth perfection. If you appreciate fine dining, exquisite flavors, culinarily history, and the craft behind aged, cured and meticulously prepared food, Taki Omakase is an unforgettable experience that you will love from start to finish.

The sushi was fresh, flavorful, and definitely the highlight of the night. The restaurant itself was also really beautiful and had a nice upscale vibe. Unfortunately, the cleanliness and service at the beginning didn't match the atmosphere. When we first sat down, one of our glasses had a lot of scratches and the other one was visibly dirty. When I asked for them to be changed, the waitress initially insisted it was just scratches, even though one was clearly dirty. She eventually replaced them, but the new glass was also heavily scratched, and what bothered me most was that she took the dirty glass and placed it on another table instead of taking it to be cleaned. The attitude at first felt a little dismissive and rude, although she did become much more polite and helpful as the night went on. Another downside was the bathroom cleanliness. It smelled like a public restroom, which really didn't fit the fancy atmosphere the restaurant was trying to create. Overall, the food was genuinely excellent, but for a place that looks this nice, the cleanliness and attention to detail should be much better.

It took over 30mins for these appetizers and nigiri's to be served. Servers were friendly but unprofessional, looked very lost. The sushi chef was Korean, but definitely not Korean sushi chef quality work. There are plenty of places you can go to for equal or better quality sushi for better prices. The toro had Clorox scent as if it had been placed on a cutting board that has been wiped with a sports towel that was soaked in Clorox. The Uni was fresh but the amount was disappointing. I am uploading pictures from different places for comparison. Anyway no need for me to say anything else. Won't be returning, ever. I could barely swallow the 2 pieces of nigiri and app that was drowning in salty ponzu sauce. I will leave this place for people who dont know how to enjoy some good sushi.
