    Shrimp tempura roll

We hadn't been here for a while, since the new ownership, and we were not disappointed. Our server was super friendly and knowledgeable. We asked about a roll we used to get and she was able to tell us right away which one it was. The fish was fresh and delicious. We loved everything we ordered and will be back soon to try more.

This is a really nice sushi restaurant that is only 2 minute walk from my place. I wonder why I never noticed it before. The sushi I had was perfectly made and the waiter was very friendly and the ambiance of the place was excellent. I may come back here again sometime. If I can give them 10 stars I would.

Final days of the long and illustrious reign of Hideko, Giuseppe and Yoshi. Last night is 7/27 (don't worry, the new sushi chef is a twenty year vet and training alongside Yoshi as we speak). Thank you all for two plus decades of making Sushi Zone my favorite sushi spot in SF.

Found a hidden gem in an alley. It was a chilly night so I decided to get some warm sake to warm me up. The area is a bit quiet but definitely worth visiting. Everything we ordered with delicious and fish was very fresh. Food highlights -Toro Toro roll - 5/5 This was my fave roll. Buttery toro with seared salmon on top. Can't ask for a better bite. -Spicy mango salmon - 4/5 not really spicy but a great roll with the hint of sweetness from the mango -Volcano - 4/5 crisp tempura crunch with spicy tuna -Walu sashimi - 5/5 this was very thickly sliced and rich. Melted in my mouth delicious. Sake avocado tartar - 4/5 solid appetizer with fresh salmon and avocado mixed in round mold. Baked bass 4/5 creamy mixture that had a nice texture from the mango and fish Stuffed jalapeno 4/5 it had nice kick with a fish mixture Ambiance Some bar seating at the chefs table and a few tables inside as well as outside. A smaller family owned sushi spot where you can get some excellent quality fish and a reasonable price. Service Staff were attentive, friendly and checked in at appropriate times. Overall I can't wait to come back to try more of the menu!

Yay they are finally open again. I work nearby and used to come here under the old management. They were closed I think for 1-2 week after the old owners retired. I was by myself and I already had dinner so I got Sashimi plate because I couldn't eat too much. Man I just wanna say the fish was prepared really well. Extra smelly liquid were extracted and the texture was very nice. Not in a fancy location or anything but will be my to-go spot again when I feel like sushi! I think they added new rolls as the new sushi chef has worked for 20 years before finally opening his shop and added his twists.

One of my favorite sushi spots in SF. The baked appetizers are great but kinda expensive. The service is top notch, and the ambiance is homey/hole in wall vibes. Would recommend the Taro Taro roll.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while -- pleasantly surprised by the quality and service! Salmon tartare and baked mussels had to be my favorite out of all the dishes we ordered. Salmon tartare was exceptionally fresh. Baked mussels were recommended by the chef and I'm so glad we got it! Not too fishy and creamy in a tasteful way. I'd skip the Hawaiian rolls and order more of salmon tartare instead! Service and ambiance were good too. Place is small but not too loud. Definitely coming back.

The best sushi restaurant I've been ever tried before. Their service is really good and the waiter is really helpful. Baked mussels are my favorite ever. Yum yum

this is a great sushi spot in the city! I love the Hawaiian aesthetic in the restaurant and how they incorporate fruits like mango into the sushi. The mango is clearly really fresh and add extra tanginess to the sushi. Their baked mussels were also the most delicious baked seafood I've had. Service was great and the only reason I would give it four out of five is because it is still pricey. Most sushi in the city is pricey though.

Wow, this place is so tiny and not your typical SF omakase style place. But, what they make up in size is delicious and fresh sushi that is affordable, filling, and top notch. We always get the same things but everything on the menu is amazing. The must gets are the baked mussels appetizers, Hawaiian Rolls (#2 is best), and spicy hamachi roll. The last is one of the best rolls I've ever eaten (the lime zest is the secret!!). Wonderful staff, very professional chefs, and fair wait list (if you're on the list before close you will be served). Definitely one of the best sushi spots in SF and the best if you're looking for value and quality!

4/5 for me Small mom and pop sushi restaurant with great service and high quality fish. We didn't, but I would try to sit at the bar if you can. It looked like a lot of regulars sat there and would routinely chat with who I presumed to be the owners. What stood out to me were the baked dishes and the use of mangos in some of their rolls. I wouldn't skip out on the baked dishes, they are different than your typical and very hearty. I like the use of mangos in rolls and thought it complimented the dishes well.

Both were delicious. I particularly liked the Salmon Mango roll - it was a perfect mix of sweet and savory. The rolls came with 8 pieces each and each piece was a good size, so it was plenty for two of us. I also got a Sapporo beer (bottle) to sip on. The restaurant can be a little hidden, but it's pretty easy to find with the instructions they send before your reservation. It's located above Fermentation Lab. Just head up the stairs and you'll find it inside the old Ichi Pub space. The restaurant is small and intimate, with only 9 seats at the counter. When you arrive, walk through the Yuji curtain and check in directly with the chef since there is no host. My biggest concern with set menus is always whether I'll feel satisfied and full afterward, but that was definitely not an issue here. My husband and I were both very satisfied after the meal. Every dish was delicious, and you could really taste the quality of each ingredient. Highlights for me were the bluefin sashimi, which was so buttery and soft that it literally melted in your mouth. The skillfish was rich and decadent, and the citrus and ginger balanced the flavors. The fried fish was another favorite as it reminded me of the savory Japanese rice crackers I loved growing up. Since it's located in Japantown, parking can be challenging. We had to loop around several times looking for street parking and even had two cars take spots we were waiting for, so definitely give yourself extra time before your reservation. Only dish I wasn't too crazy about was the squid and pickled lotus root/eggplant, which was shocking to me since I normally love all those things! The texture of the pickled lotus was starchy. Aside from that, we enjoyed our omakase experience at Oma San Francisco Station and would definitely recommend!

It's in a part of japantown which feels a bit open (which I think is part of the vibe and definitely really fun. We got the 24 piece course which is a Lot Of Food,, and we were the only people there which was really cute. They split across more traditional nigiri dishes and some cooked dishes. The highlight was the second batch of nigiri dishes but I don't remember the exact fish. I will say that of all the omakase places I've been to, its not the best on my list so i'm curious what other places look like, but it's a really special and unique experience! My ONE GRIPE (actually there are a few) but the smoked salmon they served didn't have some of the pinbones removed which is a HUGE FUCKING NONO. i'm just putting it here because as a small institution it's important to support but there were 3 bones which was a :////

We were seated at the bar area since the tables were occupied. The waitress was very quick and fast, setting us up with waters and chopsticks. Sushi is plated and charged by the color of the plate- blue is their most pricier options, which I got a lot of so I had stop eating that option, and I went for yellow or orange! Sushi was fresh, I am a Saba fan so that's what I mostly ate. Uni was fresh, and Amaebi was good. Overall, if you want something fast, the wait wasn't long, (of course it'll change on the weekend) times would be long because of the seating, try this place out! We will be back!

It was hard not to grab a bunch of plates since the sushi tasted very fresh and there was a ton of variety going around. I got a mix of rolls and a Sapporo, which paired perfectly. Staff was quick and efficient, even with how crowded it was. Prices were also very affordable for sushi, especially considering the quality. Solid spot if you want fresh conveyor belt sushi without paying too much.
