Very disappointing experience, especially for an $80 bill. We ordered fried rice, two beers, an albacore maki, and another cut roll. The service was painfully slow, they misplaced part of our order, never brought us plates, and I didn't even get a glass of water. The albacore looked unusually dark and tasted off. Later that night, both my wife and I had stomach aches. The manager was there and witnessed the whole situation, but never apologized or made any effort to address the issues. They also didn't properly remove the misplaced item from our bill, but by that point we just wanted to leave. Overpriced, poor service, and questionable food quality. Stopped by on Tuesday evening. This was my second time at this restaurant. It was decently busy. We got to choose where we sat. My partner and I ordered the crab tempura and two sushi rolls. I would not recommend the crab tempura, but the rolls were great. Service wasn't the best. It was difficult to get the waitresses attention for water refills and the check but they were nice. Overall, I had a decent experience. Not the best spot but very convenient location for me. I wouldn't recommend specifically making a trip or waiting in line for this place though. What a cozy place to meet some friends and have sushi! I came on a Saturday night with some friends to meet up with another friend that was visiting from Israel. We talked about sushi in our group chat and our friend mentioned that there are Kosher sushi places in Los Angeles and that we should meet up at when he is in town. He was already familiar with Sushiko. They have a shared small parking lot. We parked in a spot next to the exit, but a car parked next to us, blocking the exit. We had to back out of the parking lot to exit where we came in. The atmosphere was cozy to me, rock wall on one side, colorful umbrellas on the ceiling, friendly welcoming staff. We had our choice of seating as we came close to opening, to ensure a parking spot. We started out with crabcakes and garlic edamame. Both delish! We were going to order sushi to share, but my friends stay away from spicy and I am a spicy gal. So I order a Fire roll. With spicy tuna, cucumber and avocado on the inside and spicy tuna, Serrano chile, spicy mayo and spicy ponzu on the outside, it was tasty. Our server was excellent! She checked in on us often and chatted with us. We told her that we had a friendship of over 40 years. We were there quite a while enjoying each other's company. Located off Pico Bl. In Los Angeles. Parking lot is very small only like 6 spaces and it's shared with Shawarma restaurant on the lot. Street parking is available as well. Came here with HS friends to meet up with our good HS buddy from Israel. He chose the restaurant since it has to be Kosher and this place is prepared Kosher properly. The place is not too big and it gets packed on the weekends. The service and staff were friendly and helpful our server was great she was helpful and chatted with us from time to time all in good fun. We started with crab cakes and Garlic edamame both were excellent. Then we ordered our main meal I got the rainbow roll it was good and tasty. Prices were not too bad for sushi. Sushiko sushi is consistently delicious. I ordered my food to-go. I got tempura and sweet potato fries and the crunchy roll. My dining companions got the caterpillar and sweet potato roll which I tasted as well. The food was really fresh and full of flavour. The crunchy roll had imitation crab, crab tempura, cucumber, avocado, radish sprouts, tempura flakes, and sweet sauce. It is under "cooked rolls". It was really delicious. I really love the tempura crunch in my sushi. It was a light meal. I would order something more to go with it next time. The fries and tempura were also very good but the portions are small one serving sizes so next time I would get a full order for myself and not share. I don't think they were meant for more than one person. I definitely had room in my tummy for more. The caterpillar and sweet potato rolls are vegetarian. I love that they offer so many really flavourful veggie options here. I would definitely order these again. They are also a light meal. Sushiko has a parking lot which is convenient for pick up. Also interested because it's kosher sushi which I have never had before. I along with the person I was with got the Lunch box special where you can customize it. Good kosher sushi and very friendly service here. Overall, they feature good quality fish, large portions, and inventive American style maki rolls. Good kosher sushi is rather hard to find so Sushiko will get the job done. My only feedback would be to punch up the rice seasoning, I prefer a stronger and sweeter sushi rice. I'm honestly surprised how empty this restaurant was when I arrived. Empty, quiet, but clean and relaxed. Scared me a little but that scare completely went away once they brought the crab cakes out. They were beautifully presented and the mango on top created such a sweet flavorful bite. I've never had crab cakes like this and will definitely have to order again. I'm sorry I can't recall the other rolls I ordered but as you can see in the photos, none of them should let you down and should be tried. I drove from Long Beach to LA to try these and I'm very happy I did. I ended with the ice cream tempura, they did not have vanilla and recommended strawberry ice cream instead which did not disappoint. They also have tvs set up where you are able to watch what the sushi chef is whippin up! So cool Some loud and obnoxiously rude customers showed up after us and made me sad people treat others so rudely. The workers kept their cool and continued with their professionalism. I walked in and ordered three items to go. My order was prepared and I took my bag and left. Note to self----no matter how simple something might seem, always check that it is done right and all three items are in the bag. I got home and found out that my rainbow roll never made it into my bag. I called the restaurant and the person who helped me said they became aware that the item was missing after I left and will credit my card. A fairly good, modern Japanese spot that is neither amazing nor offensive. Two weird bits: they have a somewhat secret menu that is only found on food apps (such as Yelp) and because they like to change prices a lot, it's actually cheaper to order off Yelp. For instance, an off-menu miso cod lunch special is not only not on the menu, but costs about $4 more if you call versus ordering on the app. Food and quality wise they're pretty good. The miso cod came with a large bowl of pickles. It's about a 4oz portion and there are pinbones. It tastes good with a hearty miso glaze and flakey whitefish. Interestingly, it doesn't come on a bed of rice. Otherwise I'd try to substitute some salad. The combo also comes with mushroom tempura but seems to be a mix of mushroom and crab stick. A thick and somewhat sticky sauce is poured over. This "bento" also comes with a decent spicy tuna roll. It's flavorful, doesn't taste like a mayo bath, and has avocado. To round it all off, I ordered miso soup. For whatever reason I didn't get the lunch portion. Of note, there is tofu and seaweed. Oddly, the seaweed resembles very thick, torn nori. The texture is very different from the usual wakame kelp but despite appearances, holds up well enough. read more

The saga continues, this time with a new Pharaoh named Sushiko, whose oppression comes in the form of lifeless rolls and insipid sashimi. To say Sushiko's sushi is kosher is to say that my Bubbe's brisket is 'just okay'. It's a heinous understatement and a slap in the face. Our forefathers didn't part the Red Sea for us to be disappointed by food that's as bland as the Sinai sand. The Sushiko experience begins with a sushi chef whose mood swings are as erratic as the desert winds. They must have taken their customer service cues from the Egyptians, because their warmth is as absent as leavened bread on Passover. Now let's talk about their 'sushi'. It's like they've taken the concept of 'Chosen People' and applied it to 'Chosen Ingredient', and that ingredient is imitation crab. Every roll, every piece of nigiri, every sashimi... it's all imitation crab all the time. They've turned the art of sushi into a one-trick pony, and that pony is not even a thoroughbred. It's a crabby impostor. Imagine my horror when I see a platter of Sushiko sushi at a wedding, a bar mitzvah, or worse, a bris! There's something deeply ironic about serving such a culinary circumcision at an actual circumcision. Remember the story of Jacob and Esau? Esau sold his birthright for a bowl of lentil stew. At least he got lentils. At Sushiko, you're trading your birthright for a roll that's as dull as a dishcloth, and at least a dishcloth has a purpose. So, my fellow chosen people, let us not be chosen for this culinary fraud. We've wandered enough. We've tasted the bitter herbs of slavery, yearned for the milk and honey of the promised land. We didn't cross the desert, survive the plagues, and build our culture to be given fake crab on a bed of rice. We deserve better. We deserve real sushi, sushi that our ancestors would be proud of, sushi that is as diverse and vibrant as our history. We didn't wander through the desert for this. So disappointed lately! Apart from the fact that this place is very expensive already, I order the "crispy rice treat" 4 pieces of crispy rice and spicy tuna but asked to modify it to a "plain" version for my kid. They wanted to charge me $13.95 for 4 pieces of fried rice - no tuna. There was times when they were much more accommodating and I was charged about $8 for it (which is also overpriced). Today, I called to order a pick up order and the girl on the phone refused to adjust the price. I canceled my order and will not call again. They just lost a client who orders 2-3 times a month. Rainy day weekend with my dog Bubba, so I decided to grab a late sushi dinner at Sushiko. They had GF Tamari so I was good to go. I ordered a very generous portion of Sunumono, salmon and yellowtail sushi and a Hawaiian Roll: Spicy Yellowtail, mango, avocado, radish sprout rolled in seaweed and macadamia nuts. The food was good but while the two closed circuit flat screen televisions showing the two sushi stations I thought was a brilliant idea, it turned out to be a bit boring. I was the only customer at the long sushi bar which is strange to me but to each their own. There was no interaction whatsoever with the sushi chefs which was disappointing. I have to always try not to compare it to Shibuya in Calabasas which is our family favorite, but the sushi was good and the place was nice. read more

I don't like giving negative reviews but I'm hoping the owner sees this. The sushi was average, I sat at the bar and looked at the refrigerated items. They were drying out, looked limp and stale. If that wasn't bad enough, the place is dirty and needs to have a good wipe down. Starting from the glass doors to the TV, all of it needs to be cleaned. There were 4 people in the middle of lunch hour. Waitress did fine but as a whole it isn't a welcoming place. I hope whatever it is with management improves. Good luck. read more
