All-you-can-eat sushi offer is great value, especially considering the variety of menu offered. Prices also reasonable. Came up to Otay ranch to try Sushiya which was recommended to us by my sister in law. Entering the restaurant right away I could tell that the food would be good. The interior inside was beautiful and the sushi bar was very glamorous. The service was nothing over the top but they were nice and did have a server walking by the tables about which seemed like very 5 minutes. The food.... omg! Wow it was very very yummy so much flavor and perfection. I'm normally used to my Chula Vista sushi house flavors but ohhhh Mann sushiyas food was great! We had some rolls and the sesame chicken. The chicken was bomb too served with some white rice a side salad and the chicken was in squares different texture but it was so good! I couldn't stop munching on it lol. It was a bit pricey about $30 more than what I'm used to but I think we will come back one of these days. Highly recommend! read more

Came here last Friday, mid lunch day, with a party of 4. The place wasn't busy at all & wait time was 15 minutes. We got our order and most of us ordered sushi rolls (8 rolls) and I had a Bento box during their lunch specials. Although there weren't a lot of people and it wasn't busy, the service was awful. Our waiter who took our order never came back but he was seen elsewhere. We tried to wave a busser for extra napkins & ponzu sauce, but he kept saying, "ok ok I get for you". We asked him three times and he was busy or forgot. My miso soup and bento box came before the sushi rolls. My party was waiting more than half an hour to get their rolls. By the time the rolls came, they arrived at the same time, but we all noticed that execution was terrible. The rolls were cut unevenly, presentation was off, and a few of the rolls were falling apart as it was picked up with the chopsticks. Also the prices went up, and so the menu got revamped. Certain rolls are no longer eligible for the 40%-50% discount if you do take out or dine in. The portion got skinnier as a result. As for the service as a whole, we didn't feel like the service we received deserved a tip but we tipped $2 on a $85 bill. It was basically was you sit down, order your food, nobody checked on you, ask for a check, go up to the cash register to pay, and then leave; because that's exactly what had happened to our party. We praised Sushiya for their dine in discount, while having good food, great location within the shopping mall, and service. After this experience, we now know Sushiya is off of our go-to sushi places. There are many other good sushi restaurants with better service, food & value. read more

Ive actually been here four times. I normally order the sushi here. The menu has changed and upgraded throughout the years in a positive way. The location is still in the same spot located within the outskirts of the Otay Ranch Mall. Parking is semi-packed depending on whether you go in during rush hour times. The attendant was very friendly, she got me seated right away. My hostess, named Alyce did an amazing job serving me with every detail. I decided to start with a beer and some sake. The hot sake tasted amazing, it was heated to the right temperature. Alyce definitely did a great job on checking on me and catering to my needs with a smile. Today I ordered eel, blue fin tuna, smoked salmon, and salmon nigiri. I usually try the special rolls here and would recommend their crunchy roll or dragon rolls. The eel came with the eel sauce and the pieces were cut fat. The blue fin tuna came out aswell and were cut huge. The fatty content of the blue fin was not as high as I would expect, nonetheless, the tenderness still shone through. The smoked salmon is gives a nice smooth texture and charr flavor compared to the regular salmon. Def recommend this place and would come back again read more

The cuts of meat was also tough and was loaded with gristle so most of the meal was inedible. The salad dressing was heavy on ginger so that was wasted and the sushi roll was mushy rice. It's a shame that this place is so far because their sushi is so good. The quality of the fish is perfect and the pricing they have is even better. Most of the sushis are 50% off ALL DAY - EVERYDAY! I love their philly roll. Probably one of my favorites. The sushi chefs here are so funny and full of energy. I always enjoy their presence and the atmosphere in the restaurant. I recommend trying the philly roll, the Spanish roll, the snowball, and the seared salmon. The spicy garlic edamame is a must as well. Absolutely horrendous customer service! Not only was the hostess not welcoming at all yesterday, but when asked to speak to the supervisor in charge she directed me to ALYCE ALVAREZ, which only made matters worse! It even got to the point where she ran outside the restaurant to scream out at us. Talk about being unprofessional. They have a sign posted on the wall that indicates that all of the members of your party must be present in order to be seated. There was 1 party in front of us and none of them were there. Seeing that there was 1 table available, I had kindly asked if it was fine for my party to be seated given that we were the only ones with our entire party ready. We asked the hostess and she responded back with attitude. We asked to speak to the supervisor, ALYCE. All she could say is "We're gonna wait for them. So are you going to stay or leave?" When I brought up the sign that they have posted she responded back more harshly with "Are you gonna stay or leave?". I asked to speak to someone who was above her and all she could come up with was "Well I'm the only one here" not even capable of giving me more information on the manager in charge of the restaurant or a number to call. We stayed and waited out for another 10-15 minutes until the party in front of us FINALLY came. Our waitress, MICHIKA, ended up not being attentive at all and made it seem as if she was trying to rush us to finish eating and leave. She handed us the bill and we weren't even finished yet. We had to keep asking other waiters for items like extra plates, napkins, and utensils since she would ignore us. So I decided to write down my complaint on the receipt and put my phone number down. I paid for the bill in the front and walked out with my children. As we walked out ALYCE the supervisor runs out and screams in a condescending tone if we needed more paper to write down our complaints but ignored her. So she screamed it louder a second time. I don't think anyone in a supervisor position should treat or even speak to customers like the way ALYCE did. At that point it wasn't about if we got seated before the other party, it was more of the way she spoke to us and the way the hostess and waitress treated us. The snowball roll and the Spanish roll with spicy ponzu sauce is absolutely delicious !!! Those are my go to rolls after trying just about everything there over the years. Why such a LOOOOOOONG wait for mediocre sushi in a filthy restaurant. We waited 10 minutes for a waiter to stop at our table and ask for our drink order. It took 40 minutes to get our food. I had to remind our waiter for our appetizers after 20+ minutes! Also, the bathrooms were nasty! Your bathroom floors are sticky!! Take a closer look at the floors/carpet in the way to the bathroom as well as the corners of this place and you'll be grossed out by how dirty it is as well! Came here the other night with my cousins & sister. I got there first so I went to put our name on the wait list. It was a Tuesday night at 6:45pm. Not too crowded, just about 7 people ahead of us. Really convenient that it is in a mall & we can track where we are on the list through yelp (you can also add yourself to the waitlist through yelp which is amazing). We went to Bath & Body Works while we were waiting which was perfect timing. 25 mins later we were seated. The staff is always super friendly & they dont make you feel pressured to order quickly so you can take your time reading the menu. If you order alot of rolls I love that they come out a few rolls at a time so that we have time to enjoy our meal. The food itself was incredible. No more discounted rolls and rolls size is ridiculous. Like if your plane little bites with kids also they're not using the regular normal Suraci sauce they're being cheap and using some Tabasco Tapatio cheap quality not caring that a change is completely the taste. I will re-post in every account. You guys must stop going to this place they're being abusive. Really they deserve zero stars but I had no choice but had to put a star take this serious. I love Sushiya, I think is the best sushi option in this part of town. I live just a few minutes away and dine in at least twice a month. The sushi is great quality and their prices are very reasonable.
