Today I tried to call in an order, and this is the second time that this has happened when I have been on hold for an extensive period of time. Today, all I wanted to order was a roll for my daughter and some edamame for me. So, today placed my order. I stayed on hold for over seven minutes and was already on my way to the spot and when I got to the location, there was no one there, and the girl who finally saw me when I was upfront, said oh yeah, you've been on hold for a really long time. Last time, it was over 15 minutes. They have got to come up with a better system instead of just answering the phone and putting people on hold. My wife got food poisoning from this restaurant and we are 100% certain its from The seafood noodle that they served it really tasted very bad and very fishy not a normal taste. We usually consume seafood and never encountered food poisoning. I hate writing bad review but we want people to be aware that we had a worst experience on this. There have been times I thought my chair was gonna give out, unsure if it's me or the chair sometimes, but I'm always cautious when I scooch my chair in, haha. My kids like it a lot here and it's fairly priced. There is something for everyone to eat! From rolls, hand rolls, rice dishes, noodle dishes and soup! Appetizers are good here too! Our typical order consists of a few tempura shrimp rolls, garlic edamame and udon noodle soup. Always good and consistent. Good place to get your sushi fix with the family. I don't know why I haven't tried Sushiya till now. I've been missing out. I guess when we first moved into the area years a go, the prices were a bit on the high side. Looks like they're reasonable now. Two of my kids ordered Nabeyaki Udon. It came in a little piping hot cauldron. They liked it but said it was on the salty side. My little ones shared the Chicken Katsu plate. They are very generous with the chicken. I was amazed at the amount they served. Unfortunately, I didn't take a pic of it. As the plate hit the table. My little savages started grabbing food. They were starving so oh well. We also ordered a Crunchy Roll, Alaskan Roll, Philly Roll Salmon Lemon Roll and a Rainbow Roll. All of them were fresh and delicious. The rice to ingredient ratio was perfect and they all looked like the sushi chef took his time to make them. Great presentation. The last roll I ordered may be one of my new favorite rolls. The Del Mar Roll is DELICIOUS!! IN: Spicy Chopped Yellowtail, Masago, Green Onion, Cucumber, Sprouts TOP: Salmon, Avocado, Spicy Scallop, Bonito Flakes. What else do you want in a roll? ....well maybe shrimp tempura, but that's why I got the Crunchy Roll haha. Overall, a great experience. The waitress was very nice and helpful. Only complaint would be she disappeared for a bit. My son needed a refill of raspberry ice tea and unfortunately, he just tried my roll which was spicy. He had to sweat it out for a couple minutes. Other than that. The restaurants space is nice and clean. The ambiance is very chill. I liked how tables were spaced out and people weren't standing over me or walking past me. With drinks and all the above food. We spent like $150. Not bad at all. Sushiya is comparable to our favorite sushi spot Sushi Deli 3, in both price and menu items. Being from the bay area I've frequented many sushi restaurants. This was my first time visiting Otay Ranch so I thought I would try this place out. When I arrived I was seated right away and the waitress stopped by briefly after to ask what I wanted to drink. I then placed my order and waited. The food arrived and it was good however the waitress never came back to check on me. I had to sit there for at least 20 minutes after finishing my meal, waiting for the check and it wasn't crowded at all. She finally comes by and I ask for the check. She then pulls out her portable credit card reader and I gave her a tip even though she did not say thank you or anything, she just walks away leaving the card reader on the table. Very rude. I then left and as I walked out, no one at the front said thank you or anything. I guess solo guests are considered invisible. This is a good example of poor customer service. We ordered the Baked Sakura Roll, Crunchy Roll, Dragon Roll, and Alaskan Roll. It was the perfect amount of sushi to feed 2 hungry diners. The restaurant looks like a storage unit in the dining room, the service is lacking and of course, the prices have gone up. We gave it several chances post covid, hoping they just needed some time to get back to good business, but it never seemed to happen. We mostly would wait, and wait, and wait for service of any kind.
