    King Salmon Roll
    Alex N.

The food here is amazing I always get the King Salmon roll or Lemon Roll and never fails. Love the customer service they provide very nice people. I drive from Wildomar just to have their sushi. I 100% would recommend here and try it out.

Decided to stop by yesterday morning to check out the place and try one of their rolls. I've been searching for a place close to home w quality sushi and I think I found it *does happy dance* Here's the thing, my husband and I LOVE sushi, but we can't afford it lol so, If we save up for it and it's meh.... That's not cool. I walk in and the owner is this young, super kind and friendly upbeat guy. As soon as I tell him it's my first time there, he breaks down the menu for me and offers me a seat while I make my decision on my takeout request. I went with the moa roll and a 3 pcs salmon sashimi. I take pictures of the menu and out comes my food. To my surprise, he gave me a 15% discount for being a first time customer. It came out to $24 w tip. Can I just say, no one does that anymore. It was nice to experience hospitality and kind service. I hadn't even tasted the food yet, but I let him know I'd come back. The sashimi was amazing. The first bite I took was ALL it took for me to get me hooked. The roll was refreshing with a good amount of fish on it. I did take off the thin pieces of lime on top, but that was just my preference. Overall, very nice experience. The prices are what they are, it's not cheap, but it's not ridiculous either. Definitely saving up for date night!

Food was honestly better than I expected it to be. Server sold me on some ramen when I had my heart set on pho. Very nice and calm seating area. We will most definitely be coming back.

Still solid..but showing it's age. Came by for some discounted sushi (50% off). It had been several years since our last visit and it was a little disappointing that many of the special rolls were no longer half off. Still, there were enough discounted rolls to justify coming here and filling your belly on a budget. Yakisoba and Teriyaki are pretty good entree options here too. - Decor needs a little TLC. It's exactly the same as it was 10 years ago, dust and all. - My go to roll is the Spanish Roll (snow crab, salmon, cilantro, ponzu).

Always satisfied with their business- fresh & delicious sushi. Platter done by Tony- thank you

Outstanding & wonderful everytime I visit this place. The food is always fresh & delightful, have never had an issue with either dining-in or take-out-- big props to Tony who's always done a great job going above & beyond making sure everyone has a great and enjoyable experience. Not to mention, the beautiful sushi birthday platter he arranged on a last minute take-out I ordered for a relative. Recommend 100000%

Food was good as usual, but it was hotter than 92 degrees in the restaurant. The outside temp was 92 degrees and it was cooler. The waiter said that the owner did not want to repair the air conditioning. Wth!!! I won't be returning this summer.

I miss the Escondido one but this one has similar items. I think it was the same menu but not sure.

I've always have a great time here food is fish is great. Employees make it even better. They make special rolls if u tell them what you like and they are always on point. Great chefs. It's a huge compliment since I am a commercial sustainably caught albacore fisherman.

Came here for lunch one day it was great. So glad they had gluten free soy sauce as well! Very affordable too! Service was good and fast. Plenty of parking available as well. I was a fan of their spicy tuna rolls. I will be back if I am in the area!!

This place is such a hideaway! Tony the owner and man in the pic is so friendly and kind and greets every person that comes through his door! My parents lived near here for 10 years and didn't even know about this place or try it and wen to a neighboring busy location across the street that I have never had good experience there...I.e cold food, forgetting to add veggies to my soup and giving me them on the side, slow service.....here with Tony and the gang you will NEVER have that kind of service! Tony made us a special on the house salad with cucumbers and crab and a special refreshing sauce which started off our date night great! We then had the garlic edamame and they have an awesome special that if you purchase a beer you get a sake for $1 more...so like for $7 you get drinks for 2....soooo amazing!!! We tried 3 different rolls the albacore roll, Tony special and cruchchi roll and soooooo....flipping...GOOD!!! We have had several other rolls there like the shrimp tempura and caterpillar and a few others and honestly each one gets better than the next They are quick to clear empty plates, bring you fresh water with lemon and honestly best service in town. I can't remember the last time I had service like this!! And everyone who works there genuinely seems happy! We haven't had dessert there yet due to being to full hahaha but next time maybe we will start with the dessert so I'll add to my review haha! I definitely can't wait till we go back again!

Our party of two waited about 20 minutes on a Friday night with no reservation. It was quite busy that day with many other tables waiting to be sat. There are a lot of options on the menu, ranging from cooked items to sushi and rolls. After placing our order, it took only about 10 minutes before we received the first dish and everything else followed. We ordered a roll the sashimi set a hand roll and also a bowl of ramen. Their salmon and engawa was tasty, but I wouldn't say their fish is the freshest or have much flavor to them. Unfortunately, we had an issue with our spicy tuna roll (there was a piece of metal found inside). I'm sure it was just overlooked. But service was very friendly and accommodating. They immediately remade our roll and also provided some complementary dessert. The service here was quick and friendly. I appreciated it given how busy the restaurant was.

I can celebrate a friend's birthday, the first thing I noticed about this restaurant is that it was busy and full of people. That's the first sign that the sushi is delicious. I Found quite a few rolls in this restaurant's menu that I have never even heard of, so of course it made me want to try them. For dinner, we ordered vegetable tempura, a calamari roll, a lemon roll, and a salmon skin roll. We loved everything that we tried on their menu. My favorite, which was a 10 out of 10 was the lemon roll! If you're a first timer at this restaurant, try the lemon roll! It has a balance of delicious flavors. Overall, me and my friend had a great dining experience. The waiter, was very attentive and checked in on us to make sure that the food was delicious. Nothing on the menu, disappointed. My first trip to Tabu Sushi was during the pandemic, and I don't remember enjoying it that much. But, I also attributed those faults to the take-out experience; nothing survives packaging, travel, and dining 30+ minutes after plating and still maintains its peak level of flavor. So, I vowed to eventually come back and give Tabu another shot. First off, I kind of dig the interior. For some reason, it gives me 80's vibes; Tech Noir, but with a few plants and higher ceilings. Dive bar sushi restaurants have always been a thing I've enjoyed, and Tabu just skirts that line. My son and I came here for dinner and they seated us close to the entrance, sunlight pouring through the windows in the late afternoon, making the atmosphere bright and open. I started with an Oyster Shooter, while not the best of these I've ever had, it still had that freshness to it, the hint of brine and citrus overtones, while not being too oily or fishy. Pretty good. My son did most of the ordering, supplying the table with a Dragon Roll, Baja Roll, and an Atlantic Sea Roll. These were all okay. Sometimes the fish used was mealy. Sometimes the technique was loose, causing the rolls to easily fall apart. But, each was still enjoyable with the tastes being satisfying, if not really overly impressive. The true surprise was the Bubba Gump Roll. The sautéed shrimp on top had a fantastic bite and delicious taste to them. And the mixture of avocado, lemon, cucumber, cilantro, and chili powder, all of it was a excellent blend of crunchy and smooth textures, spicy and cooler flavors, and fatty and acidic notes. After everything else we had sampled, I was not expecting something this good when I ordered it. Still, with as good as that roll was, it was not enough to elevate Tabu Sushi past a strong three stars in my eyes. Above average but only just. With as many other sushi restaurants nearby that I prefer, coming back here may not be in the cards for me. But, I would still say it's very much worth a try if you're nearby and hungry.

She's always attentive throughout our entire dining experience and makes us feel well taken care of without being overbearing. She has such a warm friendly personality, and it's clear she genuinely enjoys what she does. As for the food, we like to try different rolls each time. Some of our favorites so far are the Escondido roll, Dynamite roll (definitely one of our top picks), Dragon roll, and the asparagus tempura roll. We'll sometimes add a spicy California roll too. On colder days, I love getting their miso soup or spicy tonkatsu ramen, you can even switch out the protein for an extra charge, which is a nice option. My husband usually goes for the chicken katsu curry, and I really enjoy the beef yakisoba or the teriyaki salmon. So if you're in Escondido definitely give them a try!

If waiting were an Olympic sport, this restaurant would be taking home the gold medal every year…read more I've given this place chance after chance over the last year, hoping each visit would be the one where everything finally clicked. Instead, it's become a masterclass in patience. The employees seem to have discovered the secret to unlimited break time because every visit they're either in the front or the back enjoying conversations while customers stand around wondering if they've accidentally become invisible. When I judge a sushi restaurant, I keep it simple: miso soup and a basic roll. If you can't make the opening act exciting, I'm probably not sticking around for the encore. Unfortunately, the miso tasted like someone waved a seaweed packet over hot water and called it a day, and the basic rolls had all the excitement of eating cardboard with a gym membership. Then there's the outside food policy. Apparently, if your toddler dares to nibble on a chicken nugget from next door while the rest of the family orders sushi, the Food Police are ready for action. You could walk in wearing a tuxedo made of hundred-dollar bills and order the entire menu, but one tiny bite of outside food? That's apparently the culinary equivalent of a federal crime. The strange part is that the restaurant actually has potential. The problem isn't the building... it's the complete lack of urgency. Watching customers wait while staff casually chat feels less like dining out and more like watching a sitcom where everyone forgot they're supposed to be working. After a year of giving this place more second chances than a reality TV contestant, I'm officially done. If you're in Escondido, do yourself a favor: spin around, point in a random direction, Google "sushi near me," and you'll probably find a place where the staff remembers customers exist. I genuinely wanted to like this restaurant. Unfortunately, the service disappeared faster than the flavor in the miso soup.
