Absolutely unacceptable experience. I had my Audi towed here on May 28th after a broken CV joint, and since then this place has been a complete black hole. Three full business days of calling with ZERO response no answer, no callback, nothing. How do you run a business where you just ignore customers who have thousands of dollars' worth of their property sitting in your shop? This isn't being "busy" this is straight-up negligence and terrible customer service. At this point, I have no confidence in this shop whatsoever. If you can't even answer your phone, how can anyone trust you to handle repairs properly? Customers shouldn't have to chase you down just to get basic communication. read more

Damn, I just got ripped off by a mechanic...that's odd..... I come in with my wife's 2013 Hyundai Elantra, let Miranda know that the back axel has been swaying on the freeway, so I think it may be the struts or the shocks. She says no problem, drop it off and come back in an hour. To get it inspected was $98 for one hour. So I came back, so far so good, and she tells me, no joke, "Well, our guy didn't spend the ENTIRE hour, but we are going to charge you for the full $98. We noticed you may need an alignment and brake work. So when you bring it back to get the shocks replaced, we'll do some extra inspection for you to make up for the time we didn't cover today." So I asked why we couldn't just get it prorated for the 30+ minutes of work she stated he did. She said usually they would, but they'd rather wait for us to come back and provide 'extra inspection", Well I don't want that, I want to pay for the labor provided. Not for FUTURE labor provided. How stupid is that? She than states that the $98 will not even go towards the work on the shocks! None whatsoever! So I just paid $98 for 30 minutes of inspection, that won't even go towards to the future work done. Final straw, she quoted $550. HA! Are you serious?? $648 in total, for a job the DEALERSHIP will do for $425???? Screw that. I should have listened to EVERYBODY else I talked to since I moved here and went to Bay Brakes or Del Monte Auto. You've lost our business for life. read more

Super friendly, but Super Sloppy! The last straw was loosing all the coolant because the technician forgot to clamp the radiator hose AND a new oil leak because they did not tighten the oil drain plug. After a little back and forth, Susi paid the bill for the place that addressed these. A previous issue had us loosing brake fluid after new brakes because of an open bleed valve. Frank just repaired my mothers car this week. I was afraid to send my little English mother and her sweet welsh boyfriend to get her car repaired since I was not with her. I was afraid they would be taken advantage of but Frank repaired her air conditioning and replaced the electric window motor promptly and treated her fairly. I brought my car in for an inspection because the oil pressure light was flickering. Customer service was good and I definitely appreciated Frank (the owner) patiently taking the time to explain the procedure. At the end of the day, however, they wanted to charge me $150 to replace the air cabin filter, windshield wipers, and a tail light. I declined the service because I found it to be rather expensive and took it elsewhere. read more

They are so very helpful - I took my 2007 Prius here for an oil change and they really went above and beyond to insure that I received the best oil change. they are definitely NOT a quick lube place but I want to give my car the best service that i an afford so waiting for a few hours while my car is getting pampered is worth it. Took my 65 Mustang in for some electrical work. Frank and his crew correctly diagnosed the problem and fixed it for me. They do excellent work and if you have a classic car that needs electrical work, Susi's is a good place to go. The mechanics are all journeymen and they know their stuff. Wanted to write a quick review and give credit to where it is due. My family and friends and i were traveling from out of town and experienced some voltage issues with my 2007 Chevy Equinox. Frank was able to fit me in on short notice and was able to diagnose the issue. He was upfront with issues and the costs that would take to repair the issues. I wanted no stars, but had to put at least one to post. These wack jobs will rip you off. I brought my 95 firebird in for a new alternator and to locate a short that I had. When I went to get my car they said its 450.00 and that they didn't find the short. The main reason I brought the car in was to fix the short . They then told me we can do it but it was more time and more money. Why didnt they do it when they installed the alternator. I said forget it don't touch my car. I then wanted to pay by visa or check and they said they dont accept those forms of payments for today only, because they knew that they ripped me off and I might stop payment. I've been taking all my cars to Susi. I have a '73 BMW 3.0CS that NO ONE, even upscale classic car mechanics couldn't seem to tune correctly. I took my SO's car in last year because the "check engine" light was on. Well, when we picked up the car the bill was over $200.00. They charged us for three hours labor and told us the car needed over $1000.00 of work. This place is a rip-off. Definitely not your typical auto repair shop. Upon the purchase of my 1968 Mercury I was in desperate need of a knowledgeable, thorough auto repair shop that I could trust to work on my baby. The first shop I went to was a disaster after $1,000 dollars, three trips and losing my breaks my one simple task was finally done and not that well. It was by pure luck and chance that I found Susi Auto. Upon my arrival I was able to explain my woes and without even looking at the car was given a list of possible problems that they could address with a little bit of investigation another five minutes my car was in the shop and the paper work was ready. Thanks to Susi's convenient location I was able to walk to Downtown Monterey and Fisherman's wharf for lunch while I waited for the results of their diagnostics. Within the hour I got a call back with the results. This is where Susi Auto really stands out from the rest. I was given a list of things that needed to be done in order of importance and was walked through with layman's terms that I could understand and visually was able to see on my car what was needed and why. Because I had an older car the list was longer than I had hoped but we were able to break it up into stages and payment amounts that worked within my budget. Within three visits my car was running better than most cars 40 years younger and even gain a few MPG's due to some fine tuning and adjustments that only a master mechanic can do. I will never take my car to another shop! I will call here and there for minor issues or questions and on more than one occasion I have been able to bring it by and my issue was resolved quickly and free of charge. If your looking to pinch pennies and use coupons to save a dollar or two this is not your shop. If your looking for someone that is going to go the extra mile and above and beyond what they have to do then Susi Auto is for you. One cannot always tell when they have been overcharged and as it pertains to the law it becomes rather a difficult thing to prove but: This is my experience. You make up YOUR own mind. () Truck with an electrical shorting issue. I have the knowledge to repair myself but not a lot of time to do so- I leave the truck AND very in depth details of the symptoms after waiting in the Q to be served for four days. As my current job was in the area I was able to note that the truck sat untouched for the first 3 days. Then I get a call telling me that the charge may be triple the original estimate! The ONLY reason I didn't come pick it up was I had already wasted 3 days and needed my truck back asap as my work situation had changed and I figured to get the truck back right away. So. Finding and repairing an electrical short where I told them to look after explaining all symptoms turned out to be a $650. fiasco and I still didn't get my truck back until after full week! I know how this works and it is becoming the exception rather than the rule. If one does not sign for the additional $ but pays it? Its becomes their bad when considering the cost to recoup and service folks know this. It has become VERY difficult to find trustworthy auto service. read more

These guys are great! They helped me in a pinch and were incredibly considerate. I asked the Volkswagon dealership to rewire the driver-side door (because it had been severed) and the dealership quoted me $600. I took it to Susi and it was more than $200 less. I dropped my car off in the morning got it the next day. Miranda called me by 1pm to update me on the diagnosis and told me she would let me know as soon as possible when it was finished. I brought my oldest car here a couple of weeks ago and I must say I was very happy with the result. The lady who answered the phone was very nice, set up an appointment and when I got there they were very professional. I've had this car for over 15 years, so really it has more sentimental value than anything else, and they completely understood and called me back right away with what they found and what my options were. I went to this Auto Repair Shop on 07/23/2014 for my SLK280. This was my second time. The first time I was happy with their service. However, this time was a disaster! I don't know how many times I went back and forth in two week time, more than 6 times for sure! They charged me $343.00 for labor to change 6 sparkplugs and one coil which did not fix the problem. Part of labor charge was "SCAN" Vehicle, for $98 dollars and....etc. They told me next step is to change all Coils, this car has 55K miles only and it did not sound right to me. I did some research and chatted with some mechanic, to make the long story short, I find out the low level oil is the problem. I change the oil and filter myself and the Check Engine Light was turned off by itself and for last 2 weeks car is driving nice. I tried to talk to the owner but, he didn't return my call, I when to store and the lady who is working in office told me he is not there and I can go and do whatever I want...etc. These are my problem with them, lack of efforts to make a systematic diagnostic, like checking the oil level. High mark up on parts, you can get the genuine parts 3 times cheaper than what they charge. High and unrealistic labor hours, 2 and half hours for changing sparkplugs and one hour for connecting diagnostic machine in this case IPhone and charging $98 dollars for it. I would never ever go back to Susi Auto Repair! read more
