The service here was excellent. The woman answered all our questions and was patient. The flourless chocolate cupcake was dense and had a wonderful deep chocolate flavor. The Carrot cake was also lovely good amount of nuts and raisins the cake and icing were both not too sweet. The lemon cake was refreshingly lemon-flavored and a little tart using lemon curd. The reason for the 4 stars is because I inquired about a small 4 inch cake and was directed to purchase a smash cake. Upon picking up the smash cake I realized how small it was. lol. And for the price of this smash cake the size was incredibly ridiculous ha. $40 for this cake. The individual slice cakes are about $7-$8 and are wayyy bigger than the smash cake that was $40. So for future reference if you're wanting a small cake for someone just get individual slices or cupcakes so you won't be surprised. Ya know...I've been to susie cakes on multiple occasions and everytime I visit my cakes are okay. The flavor is on point, the customer service is great, but every time I bite into my cake or cupcake I feel that it's not completely fresh or baked that day. I understand that this store may be a chain or that they can't waist perfectly good cake by throwing it out just because all of it wasn't sold the day that it was baked, but dang...can a sista get a slice that don't taste a lil crumbly just once. Actually, I had a nice slice of marble cake and the orange cranberry today and both of those were really moist and not crumbly at all. The flavors blended very well and if I would've known that they were going to be really moist I probably would've even been a fatty and gotten 4 slices of cake today lol. In the past the lemon, the fun fetti looking one/birthday, the red velvet and the strawberry rosé, and the regular strawberry weren't as moist as I expected them to be either. They were actually a bit crumbly in the past as well. Edible and not bad, just okay. I know ya want to know would I visit them again...yup, I would. Especially, if I just wanted a quick slice of big cake. I'd go in with the same expectations, but hoping that my slice was moist. I would also try the cookies, brownie or any of their other tasty treats as the flavor of their cakes are delicious and don't taste processed at all. Let me start by saying I live closer to the Fort Worth location, but would choose the Dallas location over FW even though it's an hour + drive. The best cakes hands down are lemon and seasonal Orange Cranberry (best cake I have ever had). That said......the Marble was way too sweet and it was so dry. Again, the Fort Worth location. I had ordered a cake and paid online. Arrived to pick it up and planned to purchase a slice of lemon and pay a nice cash tip. The worker was not professional and stated "Covid" as a ridiculous reason to not take cash. Enough already. They touch everything in there. No one is worried about Covid. And cash is LEGAL tender. She took the bag back that had the paid for cake in it as well as the slice, thinking I was unable to pay. She could have given me the slice since it was my bday and I was a reward member. But at the very least she had no right to take back the cake I had already paid for. They need to start taking cash because that's how I like to tip and every place I go prefers cash, except here. I hate not tipping. But this time I had no choice. Given this experience I will go to Dallas from now on where I have great cake and great service. read more
