As the only BBQ joint in Fallon (I think), Susie's won't disappoint and you can definitely get your BBQ fix here. You can easily tell it's a local joint probably run by the owners. There's a home-like feel inside and more importantly, the food is pretty delicious. I had the ribs which were meaty and tasty. The side of potato salad was also good. It obviously won't be the best BBQ you've ever had (unless you've only lived in Fallon all your life) but it'll do! Stopped in while driving through Fallon. We didn't want the regular fast food. The selection of BBQ meat was both beef and pork. We purchased the Beef Brisket Sandwich. It included 2 sides. We picked the Mac n Cheese. Xlnt. The coleslaw was also great. It wasn't sugary or watery. The slaw was crunchy. You get 3 beef ribs with it. We asked that the ribs were beef. We were told yes. We didn't get 3 beef ribs, we got pork. Cant eat them which is why we asked. Oh well, the helping of pulled beef was large. This place is trash. Terrible service, and very terrible food. When I went there, my buddy ordered a thing of their, "Famous BBQ Sauce" Well when we sat down, we noticed that in the back as they were making their so called famous sauce. We noticed that their sauce was only made of Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce and Reds Hot sauce..... how is that famous? If you claim to have a "Famous BBQ sauce" you need to make it by scratch not by using other companies products. Meat was severely dry and tasteless. We were passing through town and stopped at this little, local, independently owned restaurant. It was so yummy! I ordered the 1lb chicken dinner with corn bread and corn kernels. My husband ordered the brisket sandwich with a side of ribs, mac n cheese, and beans. Such a disappointment :-( Susie's BBQ was really great the last time I had them cater an HR Holiday meal in Fernley NV. I believe 2008? I know Susie was still giving orders. Unfortunately for everyone, it appears the good food died with Susie :-( I stopped by to visit the store in Fallon today, haven't had BBQ in a while. First red flag, parking lot was like driving on the moon. Do not take a car to Susie's, should you opt to go anyway, at least not one that is not a truck with four wheel drive! Upon entering, it was clearly empty and I do believe Susie's husband (Susie now deceased and this is manned by daughter and father and "new wife," according to the father, who disgraced the counter today). His nails were covered in BLACK crap and his nails were so long, I almost turned around. By the time I asked a couple questions, he clearly did not listen, as he was busy telling me about how his "New wife," had to be in the ER today. AND.....I care why? He stopped talking long enough to ask me what I wanted and when he did not stop to get gloves, I thought I would die. No gloves, long hair, no net and just walking around like we were in his back yard and he was hosting a BBQ. I believe I was so shocked there was no time to think! I paid for my lunch combo, which was Chicken (clearly so old it was almost unidentifiable and Beef? Can't tell if it's pork or beef but I know I asked for beef. The issue is the meat is so dark it is hard to tell if his greasy nails were on the meat or it was charred last week when he may have cooked it out back? I opened the Styrofoam container when I got home, praying it was not as bad as I thought, and I was right. It was worse than I thought! He ended up charging me $16.00 for chicken that was clearly not chicken, not even my dogs would eat this. I looked at the beef and couldn't tell and due to his hands and lack of gloves I knew I could not put this in my mouth. NO WAY! Dogs? No, they snubbed their noses! Do you know dogs that snub their noses at beef or chicken meat? The coleslaw looked white and I smelled it and because he used a spoon and didn't' touch it (I watched) I ate that. $16.00 coleslaw, praying it won't kill me when I sleep tonight- totally risky! Pray for me. The bottom of the container now, CORNBREAD! This can't be bad! It's in a nice little checkered red paper bowl type and it is wrapped in plastic wrap! Warning, Don't assume plastic wrap keeps good food in? I pulled the plastic off and the corn bread stuck to the wrap and smelled like SOUR BUTTER? It was revolting! I tried the dogs again. Not a chance! I really am ashamed because not visiting this place in years, I have told people how great it was!? I really love the daughter and use to have them cater all the time! It was really good. I have to say, I WILL never, ever, entertain that thought again. This is disgusting. You'd think that the sheer lack of customers at 12PM to 2PM today would have been a warning? It is the most disgusting thing. I really think the Health dept needs to get involved here. read more

After Labor day I was dying for BBQ pork ribs. While in Fallon I remembered seeing Susie's on one of the main streets. My expectations for ribs are pretty high but I must say Susie's met those expectations and more. I've worked an international "Rib Festival" for years so I'm spoiled. Ahhhh!!! Here is excellent ribs. Great sauce but most importantly the rib meat is so juicy and delicious that it just falls off the bone. Mostly a takeout joint (with a few indoor and outdoor picnic tables) the counter service was just fine. The cook/server was friendly and fun. The side dishes (I had cold slaw and baked beans) were decent but did I mention those ribs??? Again the ribs were cooked to perfection (I even ate mine 40 minutes later and they were still delicious and juicy). When I need BBQ, I'll go back for sure. read more

This small mom n' pop barbecue restaurant is a must go-to place when your hungry for good home cooking. The ribs are fall off the bone tender with a nice smoked flavor. All the side dishes are homemade, just like mom made! We ordered a full rack, beans, corn bread (included butter & honey), and coleslaw. Enough food for our dinner and lunch the next day. Looking for something interesting to eat here in Fallon NV, we came across Susie's BBQ. I think this might be the only BBQ place in Fallon. I like ribs, but not really a fan of brisket, so we decided to go for the full rack of ribs for $22.00. That seems to be about the going price everywhere for a full rack. We got it to go and enjoyed back at the house. We both like our ribs without sauce, less messy and you taste the meat better that way. The ribs were tender and not dried out like sometimes happens when you get to the smaller bones. It had the right pull off the bone feel to them with a good smoky taste. I'd say if you were in Fallon needing BBQ, this would be a good place to come to. Service was easy, just ordered, and packed up and good to go! read more

This is by far the worst BBQ I've experienced. It's like eating in a grocery store. The pulled pork had a texture of yesterday's left overs and re-heated in a steam tray. The gentleman in the back kept complaining how the water in his trailer park was getting shut off loud enough to make you un comfortable enough to try to eat the jerky textured BBQ in a hurry and leave without choking. I've been told to come here for a while now. Being from Texas and here for work I have been highly hesitant. Well I tried it and not missing anything. First off not having a meat plate and only meat by pound or on a sandwich is crazy. I opted for sliced brisket, beans, Mac and cheese. Had it not been for the bbq sauce and it's high amount of vinegar I wouldn't have been able to eat the chopped brisket I was given. It was horrible. Super dry, dod have a good smoke ring that's about all it had. Beans weren't even cooked all the way hard pieces and didn't have a even temp, like it had been old cooked beans with quick cooked beans. Mac and cheese is like eating the same from Lubys or Golden Corral. I was highly disappointed. Save yourself the trouble and go across the street to gas station and get a pizza. Food is amazing! Customer service is absolutely horrible. The "owner" was very rude and insinuated that we were paying with "Obama $" whatever the hell that means! We paid for our meals with a debit card. I'm torn on whether or not to go back since this is the only BBQ place. After a long day of running errands in Reno, Fernley, and Fallon, I had no idea what I was going to make for dinner. On our way out of town, I spied the stand for Susie's. We stopped to pick up some Q. The first thing that hit us was the smell. Wow, it smelled good getting out of the car. We approached the stand and looked at the menu. All the standards were there - pulled pork, ribs, brisket, chicken, roasted corn on the cob, and all the rest of the sides - potato salad, cole slaw, and baked beans. It took a while, but I finally decided on a pulled pork sandwich, 3 pork ribs, cole saw, and a corn on the cob. My wife had a pulled pork sandwich as well. It wasn't cheap - but it was totally work it. The pulled pork was tender and tasty; the ribs were delicious, if only the slightest bit dry. The "sandwich" serving was plentiful, with at least 2 cups of pork on top of a 6" roll. I didn't try the sauce, because I was in the mood for my own (mustard, pickle juice, and hot sauce, mixed to taste), but the sauce my wife put on her sandwich was very good. The corn was smokey, buttery and delicious. They're $3 each, or 2 for $5 - which makes them pricey, but I liked them, and thought it was well worth it. I also picked up a jar of thier rub, and used it on some ribs I cooked up the other night (A.B.'s oven braised rib recipe) and they turned out quite delicious. Tonight we're doing chicken with the rub, and I bet it'll be great. Do yourself a favor and stop @ Susie's for some seriously good Q. I hope you'll be pleasantly surprised. read more

BBQ is my absolute fave so I have high standards when it comes to the art. The ribs were already made and fresh. The sides, like cornbread and baked beans go well with the main dish. The bbq sauce itself was nothing out of the ordinary. The hot and mild bbq sauce didn't differentiate from each other very much but was tasty and left me wanting more. It was similar to the Franks red hot if you were wondering about level of spiciness. Overall great spot because of the amount of meat served with your meal. If you become a regular the rewards card is a must grab. Clean and quality service from this small restaurant but nothing less than a delicious home style meal. read more

The barbecue was moist and delicious. The sides were not worth it though. The potato salad had no seasoning and the beans were average. The corn on the cob was dipped in popcorn butter. This is the best food in town! We eat here everytime we are in Fallon. Honestly, it's some of the best food I've ever eaten anywhere. I've had the 1 lb chicken dinner (white meat) and the chicken sandwich (chopped). My husband also had the ribs. It was all DELICIOUS! I am in Fallon visting my dad, kept raving about these pulled pork sandwiches at bbq place. So finally I said fine lets go! We pulled into an empty parking lot of this hole in the wall looking establishment, I thought oh boy this isn't going to be good! My dad said let's share a pulled pork sandwich I agreed because I thought it was not going to end well! We took it home cut it half and then I bit into a piece of freaking HEAVEN! OMG that pork was so good and tasty my mouth is watering thinking about it! They do not put sauce on it you have to take over to a counter and do it yourself. A hidden hotspot! Their restaurant caught our eye passing through town so I looked up the reviews but we decided to form our own opinion. I'm not sure where some of these reviews are coming from because this was some of the best bbq we have had in a long time. My husband ordered the half rack dinner with corn on the cob and coleslaw and I ordered the pulled pork sandwich dinner with corn on the cob and coleslaw. You add your own bbq (and I mixed honey in with mine) to your food whether you want hot or mild.... it was so yummy! And the shock of the night was the corn on the cob! Visiting Nevada for the summer We had the smoked beef brisket and the pulled pork. It came with a choice of side. Baked beans or corn on cob. The BBQ sauce was on the side so you can control how much you want. The inside was welcoming and very casual. Picnic tables to sit at. Very excellent. We were driving through Fallon today and wanted a bite to eat. I searched yelp and saw Susie's BBQ and I'm glad I did. I had the Brisket Sandwich plate and my husband had the pulled pork sandwich plate. You get two sides with your sandwich for $9.95. Both the Brisket and pulled pork were tender and so flavorful. They had ribs on the menu also, I wished I could try them because they look mouthwatering. Susie's is well worth the stop. read more
