All that said, there were a few service touchpoints that felt out of step with a Michelin three-star and #1 La Liste experience. My husband and I were hosting local friends to celebrate a major milestone of theirs. I had pre-ordered and pre-authorized Champagne to be ready on the terrace upon arrival. Instead, we were led to our seats, handed beverage menus, and asked for our order -- I shouldn't have had to remind the restaurant of an arrangement I'd made in advance. Worse, after we'd already taken our first sips, a server tried to top off my glass from another table's bottle of Champagne. These things happen, but it reads as sloppy and unprepared for an establishment of this level. Once we moved into the dining room, things were looking up -- until the wine glasses arrived. Two of the four had to be sent back for a soapy smell. That's simply not acceptable at a three-star establishment. It's a shame these lapses colored the experience this way because at this price point and with these accolades, I expected more.
