Was visiting a friend in the neighborhood and just wanted a drink outside. The host was very unclear about the fact that there were no tables available outside. So, when we went upstairs, the servers outside were very upset and told us we must go back to the host. Oh, well. We ended up sitting by the bar upstairs and enjoying a cocktail. A friend and I had plans to see a show in Old City the other night and we found this place during our search to find dinner in the area. The experience was decidedly mixed, though I would definitely give it another shot. Atmosphere 5/5 First off, the space is beautiful. There are two floors, with a dining area downstairs, and a bar and a very large space for more dining upstairs. You can tell that this upstairs area is open-air during the warmer months, and would seem like an even better atmosphere to dine in. Aside from being spacious, the space is nicely decorated and comfortable. Food 4/5 Upon first glance, the menu has a wide variety of tempting options, from handhelds to steak, chicken, and shortrib, to all sorts of wood-fired pizzas, which the waiter told us was their specialty. My dining partner and I opted to share the Whipped Ricotta with flatbread and honey for an appetizer. Delish! For the main course, we both ordered the gnocchi with roasted eggplant, scallions, and parmesan. We were told that the gnocchi is house-made, which helped in our decision. In the end, the dish was tasty, but a bit too doughy. Service 3/5 The service at Revolution House is the reason for the overall rating of 3. Unfortunately, we waited a long time for everything, from our drinks to the food and even the check. It wasn't until the very end that the waiter explained that they were shorthanded, but by that time, we were a little frustrated to say the least As I alluded to earlier, the menu and the atmosphere was enough for me to be willing to try Revolution House again and hopefully next time the experience will be better. read more

Came here for the first time for an event, and it will be my last time here. I arrived, Ordered a drink at the bar, waited 40 minutes for my drink to be made and brought to my table, after having to ask for my drink two more times. I asked the waiter for a menu , he brought the menu over, that was the first and last time I saw him throughout my entire dining experience. Nobody came to check on my table, I had to flag down staff in order to get anything. The food and drink was just ok, and definitely not worth the terrible customer service. read more

I have to say I was pretty underwhelmed on my recent visit here. The best part was the service - our waitress was attentive and pleasant. I found the food/drinks to be undesirable. The glass of white wine I ordered was completely luke warm and was expensive ($17 for Sauvignon blanc). My sister and I split a Cesar salad app, wings, and a burger. The dressing on the Caesar was not great, way too salty for me. The wings were average as well as the burger and fries. Everything seemed really overpriced for the very average items. The ambiance upstairs was also not great. It wasn't decorated, no music playing, it seemed very awkward. read more

It pains me to even give a critical review because I genuinely love this place. The vibe is great and I've always had a good experience here. But two small mysteries need solving: 1. The nachos. Something happened to the cheese and not in a good way. Whatever changed... please change it back. The old cheese knew what it was doing. The current cheese seems to be going through a bit of an identity crisis. 2. The iced tea. Where did it go? Is it on vacation? Blink twice if the iced tea is being held somewhere in the back. What a great spot! We opted for the outdoor second floor seating. Great views of Penns Landing, the street (which ended up being way more entertaining than you would think) and the weather was perfect! We found this place initially during a "pub crawl history tour" and knew we had to come back for food after the tour was over. Plentiful menu, my husband had a taco special (even came with a free horchata cocktail!) and I had the buttermilk chicken sandwich. Admittedly, I've had better. The chiplolte mayo was almost non existent and the chicken was crispy but flavorless. The fries were definitely the standout. Service was nice and quick. The decor is super cute. Had an awesome experience at revolution house! Got a nice table on the upstairs floor with a great view and beautiful aesthetic. The fountain was neat(though I wish it wasn't splashing on me). But it was kinda nice since the fans weren't on and it was extremely hot out! Despite this, I was very pleased with my meal and the drinks we ordered. The drinks were presented very nicely and had a really good flavor! They provided ice water and kept it full which was also nice. For food we ordered the blistered shishitos(pepper things), a few flatbreads, and the smash burger. All were delicious especially the peppers and the flat bread which were very tasty and well seasoned. I was actually surprised at how good the peppers were since I typically don't get them, so definitely try if you can. Service was good and it was easy to get a table. The smash burger was okay, it's nothing special in terms of seasoning, toppings, or flavor. I don't like American cheese and that was their only cheese option (maybe due to the historical USA vibes of the area). We were visiting and staying just around the corner and found this place online. The menu had lots of options for the kids so we decided to try it out. All of the staff were extremely friendly and very nice and helpful. The food was just as great. Kids had pizza, mac and cheese and fries. My kids are picky eaters and they both enjoyed their meals. My little.one had mac and cheese with bacon and she ate a majority of it which is rare for her. The Pizza was very good as well. I had the morning jam burger which was messy but very good. The wife had the garlic shrimp which was very flavorful with a nice sweet and spicy flavor. It was a somewhat healthier option for her. If you have little ones and are looking for a good meal I would highly recommend this place. It's a great place to enjoy a drink as well if you have that luxury. I like that I can usually find parking on the westbound side of Market st. The cheesesteak was $17. It did come with very good hand cut french fries. The meat was good but needed more. Despite how busy it was, they were able to get us seated near the bar right away. As I said they were really busy so might not be a normal scenario but service was a slow. The staff was nice and apologetic, clearing running, but there was several times we needed to flag down any server to get stuff like silverware or napkins or ketchup. The food was good. Went to Revolution House with my girlfriend last night and I was not disappointed. We had a reservation for 7 and were seated up top on the roof deck. It was a perfect night for it - about 78 degrees and sunny. The ambience on the rooftop is great and it is a sweet spot to hangout. I got the Revolution Smash Burger with a Summer Love. My girlfriend ordered the Chicken Tinga Tacos and the Sangrerita. We also ordered the Potato Croquettes for an appetizer. The potato croquettes were my only con - a little overpriced for what you get with them. The Burger was really good - 8.9/10 and the secret sauce was excellent. I also had some of the Chicken Tacos - which were really great too because what girlfriend ever finishes all her food on date night? Her only comment was they were a little messy but we both still loved the taste. Food was also served very fast and wait staff was accommodating. I thought it was a really cool spot. Liked the decorations and theme of the restaurant after the American Revolution in a historic Philadelphia neighborhood. It's also a great place to eat and then walk around some historic landmarks of our country.... "Unite or dine" Definitely will be back sometime! Cheers read more

So was looking up rooftop bars and decided to try here . We went tonight a Sunday evening for drinks . We got there and were told we could only sit outside if we were ordering food . We sat inside at upstairs and Russs was great but there were only two tables taken outside so very disappointing that we could not enjoy the outside space. The hosts had a look like 'how can I help you?' without saying it out loud so I said, 'it's just me'. With that I was immediately seated and given a comfortable few minutes to review things. My server approached and offered drink special information. I went for a local beer, 'I like beer'! Churchville lager I like a lot. After a few questions about sandwiches I went for my go to pizza. The Americana (?) is just basically pepperoni pizza. It came out in less than 7 minutes but it was perfection. The crust was the right thickness not doughy or or too much sauce. The only thing that was off was it was hot just not piping like fresh out of the oven. But I have no complaints about the food or my server. The decor is wood paneling walls and exposed beams, a nice above ground basement vibe. The pizza was good the restaurant clean and organized but slightly expensive for a personal size pizza. If they have Happy Hour deals during the week I would consider returning if not, it's not worth another trip. read more

I had a really nice evening at Revolution house. The weather was gorgeous, so we opted to sit on the roof deck. There was an event upstairs as well, but it was partitioned off away from our seating. Service was fantastic! The waiter was friendly, efficient, and enthusiastic. I tried the Lavender 75 for my cocktail, it was gin with Prosecco, delicious. My date got a Moscow mule and blackberry cider. Both we very good! Cocktail Prices are typical of the area, around $13. We decided to get a few small plates and started with the chicken kebabs and the crispy brussels sprouts. The crispy brussels sprouts were so good, the best I've had in a long time. The kebabs were just okay, in my opinion, so I probably would not order them again. After our appetizers we decided to split a pizza. We went for the buffalo chicken pizza, and it looked and tasted fantastic. Again, I must comment on how great the service was! I feel like service has really declined since the pandemic and we were really taken care of. We went early, around 4:30 pm, only to find out happy hour only pertains to the bar, but we really wanted to sit roof top, so we paid regular prices. We left around 6:30 pm and it still wasn't very crowded. I would recommend Revolution house if you are in Old city and looking for an outdoor venue to eat and dine! read more

Walked up to the 2nd floor and ordered a beer and then took in the views. Then we went downstairs and ordered dinner. The crispy brussel sprouts were outstanding. I don't know why, I just assumed the patio was going to just have heaters and not be enclosed too. Either way, we sat out there. I enjoyed the vibe, not too loud, easy conversations going. Haven't been here since I gave it a one star years ago but my husband and I were in old city and we stopped in. Maybe my bad experience was a fluke because we had a great time. Our server was kind and attentive, she gave us space which I love and even though they were clearly getting ready for a big group to come in we did not feel rushed at all. The food was good too, the nachos were great... I loved the tortilla chips and I kept with the same thing and had tacos which were excellent. I wish we weren't going to be walking around for a while after or I would have taken my last one home. I had a delicious cocktail that I really enjoyed as well as a tasty smash burger with fries. The burger itself was very juicy and it was nice to get 2 pattys.
