I have been going to Dr Goodman for years and she is amazing. She takes the time to collect all info to make good recommendations for eye health along with vision checks. She takes her time with patients and sometimes runs late but always makes time for everyone. They were sensitive to the fact that our little guy hadn't napped yet and let us be in the same room. Being so close to my home, I decided to give it shot, I needed some glasses and figured all places are the same, oh boy was I wrong!, I ordered the glasses on 12/23/2019, there was a delay because of the holiday as expected, but after calling on the 01/17/2020, I was told my glasses were ready, I drove after work, took a look at them, and I couldn't see anything, they mess up the prescription, they send them back, I called around the 02/02/2020 was told the glasses came back but where damage and had to send them back again, I called them on 02/08 and they said one more week, I told them to cancel my order, I wasn't gonna wait any longer, I talked to my credit card company and filled a complaint, they called me to let me know that the glasses were finally ready on the 02/11/2020, almost 2 months later, but I already have glasses made by an online company, $435 for a nice set of Gucci glasses, almost $200 cheaper... If you keep reading till this point, let me tell you what bothered me the most, it wasn't the waiting, it was the ladies answering the phone, they sounded like they where doing me a favor, they seamed annoyed and acting like it was my fault, the Dr. was a nice lady no doubt, but she needs to reconsider who's working for her, be honest with yourself, was it my fault they couldn't do their job?, almost 2 months and over $750 later, the last thing they should do, is give the customer attitude, it wasn't free. read more

To be honest, I'm not sure why Suzanne has 3.5 Stars. Yesterday, my wife, my 1 year old son, and I were seen via appointment. Suzanne's staff were professional, fast, and nice! Suzanne was just the same. I had just a general check up on my eyes. She was extremely efficient and answered all my funny questions. She was even accommodating to my fussy 1 year old. Dr. Goodman's office staff were polite, friendly and willing to help. After just my first phone call in, I knew I chose the right practice for my exam. I was able to schedule my eye exam the very next day. Dr. Goodman herself was absolutely fantastic. What a caring and friendly asset to all, in our community. Both my wife and myself have seperately had terrible experiences with Dr. Suzanne L. Goodman and the Community Vision Optometric Center in Ventura, CA. First off, their office institutes all manner of unneccesary "rules" regarding how you are to go about obtaining their glasses/contacts/prescriptions. They basically will hold you hostage by making you come back for repeat appointments before they turn over the perscription, each time charging you appointment fees. Second, if you don't buy their obscenely overpriced glasses (they charge 3X the amount you can find online) then they will charge you additional fees ($10) if you need them to re-check their prescription. Thirdly, Dr. Suzanne's attitude is really bad. I politely asked her some questions regarding these policies and she responded with great hostility and defensiveness. This is not a quality you want in a doctor who is supposed to be helping you. My wife had a similar experience, so I know it isn't just me imagining things. I recommend going elsewhere. read more

Dr. Goodman was amazing! I am also in medicine so we got to chat a lot and she was excited that I had good insurance and I let her use as many of her tests and cool tools she doesnt get to use all the time. She was very professional and my exam went well then I picked glasses and tried on many! Ton of selection at Community Vision Center on Victoria (Next to Vons). Only reason I didnt put 5 stars is I was told I would get my glasses in 7-10days and when I called in 9 days for an update they told them hadnt come in and wouldnt come in until the following friday (so thats over 2 weeks!) and I needed them ASAP since I was going on an over night road trip very soon. Then the girl got off the phone and said she would check the back and yep there they were! So she didnt look when I asked her to, I dont appreciate that. Only giving this 2 starts because Dr. Goodman had great "bedside manner." They have messed up my contact prescription going on 3 times now. Making me come in for continuous follow-ups to "finalize" my contact prescription. Pretty much a scam to continue to bill my insurance and essentially cost me more money. I have worn contact since I was 16 years old - Same brand and everything. Suddenly they want to swich up my rx stating I told the dr i wanted something else? Makes zero sense why the hell would I change after 9 years of using the same brand?? The staff sucks and Dr. Goodman being a great doctor does not make up for her shitty staff. Went to the waiting area, sat down for 1 minute before Dr. Goodman was ready for me. She was very thorough with the exam, and explained everything to my understanding. The Drs are fine. Its the staff that seem irritated and less than personable. I spent over $300.00 for new lenses to go in my old frame. $300.00!!!!! When i go to pick them up, the guy makes a big production about giving me a "generic" case. Asking everyone where the "generic" cases are. Finally finds one and hands me my new $300.00 glasses. I called on Monday and was able to get an appointment on Tuesday morning. Which I was very grateful for. Dr. Goodman is absolutely stunning! She went over my history and gave me the best eye exam I have ever had. She really took her time to get my history. I was so impressed with her warm, friendly and caring manner. She was relaxed, I felt like I have known her all my life instead of meeting her for the first time. Her knowledge is exceptional and I felt confident with the results. She found an old scar on one eye that no one has ever noticed before. Talk about impressed. She knows her craft and I will most definitely come see her again. I have been a patient of Dr.Goodman's for 12 years now! I have referred several people there and they have all been very happy! I feel Dr.Goodman has always been willing to answer my questions. I am especially fond of Candy. She works in the front office. She remembers me when I call and has always been professional and effecient when handling my needs. I do feel the designer frames are overpriced, so I have only purchased 2 pairs of designer frames from this office. I have, however, been very pleased with the selection they have on more affordable frames and have used them as back ups. I asked them to look up my insurance information after providing the insurance provider and the staff was incompetent and unable to do so because of "policy." Lens feel out of glasses and screw was loose. Brought glasses back and original brown screw was replaced with larger chrome one. Two weeks later same thing happened but this time frame was broken by oversized screw. Was told had to pay for another frame and there is one in stock. When I brought up the fact the break was caused by oversized screw put in by their employee, Evelyn told me notes are in the computer and it was my fault the glasses broke, talked over me and hung up the phone. How is that possible? She has never seen the glasses. It's very obvious since the two hoops are still on the screw, one hoop snapped at frame connection due to the pressure of the wrong screw. Now lens is lost and unable to wear very expensive glasses bought at the end of September for about $900. I suspect the lens slipped out of the case and is between the car seats. Once I find it, will crazy glue it and never deal with these condescending lazy scammers again!! Terribly rude unprofessional staff who are not qualified to even tighten a screw, don't waste your time and throw away your money. read more

Dr. Goodman is the only eye doctor I've ever gone to. I've never had any problems with her or her friendly staff. She's knowledgeable and respectful of my lazy eye problem and she made suggestions to further help like surgery and/or special lenses. This office deserves NEGATIVE 5!! After nearly 14 YEARS of taking my entire family here, and recommending to Numerous friends, I am EXTREMELY disappointed in Dr. Goodman and her staff. I .2 MONTHS ago asking for an emergency pair of contact lenses for myself after the only pair I had left somehow got a splash of jalepeno juice in my eye and ruined my only pair. My glass frames had broken just the night before, which left me with NO way to drive. At my last appointment they didn't " have the time" to give me or my son and Granddaughters our prescriptions, so I was left with nothing to even go to purchase another box. I waited for the phone call I was promised after the receptionist told me that an emergency pair would be $7.50. Absolutely fine with me, as I had Nothing else to use until I got my rx and bought a box! No phone call was ever returned. Having lost my Mom recently, my mind has been on other , more important things. I remembered today to call. When I did, I was told they did NOT give emergency pairs of contacts, BUT I could purchase a box of contacts from them for " only" $75". DOUBLE the cost that I pay for them at Costco or Lens Crafters!! The receptionist was not only rude on the First phone call placed, but today, a different one was also rude. I have picked up ALL of my family's prescriptions from this uncaring, rude, non sympathetic Doctor and her " crew" . After ALL of these years she has lost a regular customer and about 27 other people I referred to her.
