Used to be a favorite Friday lunch spot for a group of us in the office pre-COVID. Went back today for the first time in over a year and it was nice to do something normal again that had been part of our routine. Food and service always just really good and consistent. My go to is the eggplant and shrimp lunch special leading off with dumplings. Really flavorful, the shrimp are always cooked just right and they will season to how spicy you want it. Swadee Thai House is in a corner location in the heart of Emmaus. To date, I have been ordering take out from Swadee at lease once a month for the last three years. The menu is varied, the options can be customized to your needs, and the take out options are prepared as if you are dining in. Typically, we order some combination of the following; spring rolls, calamari, chicken sauté, tofu green curry, tofu red curry, and chicken drunken noodle. First and foremost, the spring rolls at Swadee are AMAZING! They are homemade and can sell out from time to time. They are crispy, fresh, and the plum sauce that they come with is to die for. The calamari is home battered and comes with a thai chili sauce. It is fresh, flavorful, and we usually order these if the spring rolls are sold out or we are having take out with another group. The curry spice level can be customized and is very rich and flavorful. The coconut broth is filled with fresh vegetables and a protein source of your choosing. The drunken noodles are very flavorful and the spice level has always been as I requested. There is a generous amount of carrots and peppers in the drunken noodles and they really provide a firm compliment to the dish. Swadee is a great spot in a very unassuming location in Emmaus. We have dined in but mostly ordered take out. We were pleasantly surprised during our dine in visits in that the take out experience is identical to the take out. read more

I've eaten here twice now and both times I've been satisfied with my food. The first time I had green curry and was surprised to find the medium a little spicier than I expected -- not that I couldn't handle it, but generally a lot of restaurants in the Lehigh Valley gimp out on the spice so the extra spice was a pleasant surprise. The second time I ordered a dish called Pad Khing Sod, which had great flavor but perhaps a tad too salty. The portions for each meal were a good size as I was able to get two meals out of it (but to be fair, I do tend to eat smaller portions). The dinner prices were a little steep but the lunch special was fair. The service is very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is generally pleasant but I found the music, which consists of an assortment of instrumentals played on an electric keyboard/synthesizers, to be a little off-putting. read more

The atmosphere comfortable. The staff very friendly and attentive. I ordered the Prik Khing. It was very flavorful. Interesting layers of flavor. This was our second time at this amazing restaurant, and decided I have to tell the world how great it is! The food is amazing, the service couldn't be better and the ambience could not be better. Oh yeah..even the portion size can be added to the list. I started with the house salad with a delicate peanut dressing.A perfect salad, and huge. My main course was Pineapple fried rice with pork. Delish. My husband started with chicken satay. Perfect. He then ordered Lobster Bangkok. I've never seen a plate so large. He said it was the best food he's ever eaten. Do not know how he managed to eat all of it. Other dishes irdered by friends were a calamari appetizer (they certainly know how to do calamari right. A very delicate batter), an eggplant dish and not sure what the other person ordered, but she ate it all. The restaurant is very clean and the employees are kind. It is decorated in an authentic Thai style. Stopped in for dinner with my mom tonight. It was her first time eating Thai and she enjoyed it. As a person who has eaten at many Thai restaurants and also cooks Thai at home, I was severely underwhelmed. Before my dining experience I read the reviews of other Yelpers and went it thinking it would be a great meal. I left thinking "I'm never going back." Although Thai Thai (last restaurant in the location) was not my favorite, it was far better, in my experience. The decor was similar, slightly tacky, yet nice. The service was friendly and the waters were kept filled too. We both ordered Thai iced coffee and they were average. I got the red curry tofu and thought it was bland. I wasn't asked to define what spice I desired, so I expected mild, but I feel like it was less than mild. There was little flavor. The tofu was poorly cooked in my opinion as well. Lastly, the veggies were disappointing. There were mostly bamboo shoots and one slither if red and green pepper. Just not up to par with what I'm used to. The green bean seemed as if they were frozen, not fresh too. My mom, who has never had Thai enjoyed her red curry chicken and iced coffee. I'd say if you are new to Thai or have lower standards, you might be happy. As for me, I won't be returning. I had to edit my review and change to 2 stars since last night after dinner I started having tummy issues and my mom woke up with some. Boo read more

the food was pretty good but not great. No cilantro or lime in the Pad Thai. These are essential. My biggest problem was the cold. We went in December and though they had an auxiliary electric heater in the corner, it was uncomfortably cold. What's the big deal with heat. If you want Thai food get it here after March. read more
