Soooooo yummy!! I've always heard about this place being delicious but never actually made it down here. I came on Easter Sunday with a group of people and wasn't sure what to get. I saw someone walking by with an açaí bowl that was like the size of my head. Although tempting, I thought it might be a bit much. I ended up getting the veggie Rama omelette add bacon with a side of potatoes and an English muffin. Um, yum?! The food was hot and fresh and actually had flavor unlike some breakfast spots that can give huge portions but no flavor. I like the fact that the menu is primarily a healthy vibe but also delicious. Just the food is good. And I like the atmosphere. But the store in Encinitas on coast highway it's not enforcing the mask requirement 12/21 @!3 pm. I was very unhappy when I asked the girl at the counter why aren't you wearing masks and she replied that they're not required to. I said I think you're wrong; I'm pretty sure you're required to wear them now and she says no we're not. I then said to her- well, make mine to go please and she got kind of irritated with me. Great location! Dog friendly! The croissant breakfast was delicious! I ordered a breakfast taco which was amazing and gave half to my dog! It came with salsa which was really good! We also ordered the spicy ginger wrap with chicken! All of the flavors were really good however the wrap was soggy and fell apart! I would recommend dumping the insides out and eating it like a bowl! I love Swamis and was excited to try this location since it is close to my office. Ordered a BLTA w/ mock bacon and took a seat to wait. I saw they were pretty busy, no worries, I get it. Then a family, who had ordered a while after I did, got all their food. Asked the server if my food was almost up, she was super sweet and went to check. It wasn't ready, so had to switch it to go since my lunch was ending soon. I got the bag with my food and noticed the container was still open, potatoes were falling out into the bag, the sandwich was falling apart, but oh well, I switched it on them so I get it's not going to be the best. I finally get to my office, open my box and see they added real bacon. So now I have to throw away the meal I just paid $13 and waited for. Have you ever been so hungry you want to cry? Waited about 45 minutes before asking waitress about it, got the answer "we are working on it" after not checking. Checked back 20 minutes later, our order had been lost and not prepared yet. I understand sometimes orders are misplaced but not a single server came by to ask why we were just sitting there for over an hour. We ordered a veggie Rama omelette and a multigrain pancake to share. The omelette came with sour dough toast and potatoes, the veggies were done to perfection in the omelette which also had just the right amount of cheese. The potatoes were also very tasty and done to perfection. The pancakes are huge and delicious. We enjoyed this meal immensely and would definitely come back. I love this location and being able to sit outside on a relatively big patio. I also loved the large selection of coffee they had with Kona being my favorite but it was fun trying a number of them to see which I liked best. I went with the scramble, my wife with the acai bowl and my daughter with the multigrain pancake. Each dish was excellent in its own way and just confirmed what I wrote in my earlier review. I wanted to love this place but while we were sitting at one of the tables outside there was a sad rat by my foot not really moving which I thought was odd turns out they actually POISON the rats so they basically die in place which doesn't make a lot of sense because they don't actually leave....(they die in place) but super cruel because there are other ways to get rid of the rat infestation. Located a little out of the way from the hustle and bustle of the main strip of shops, and walking distance from Swami's beach! I got the vegetarian omelette with asparagus, zucchini, bell pepper, and feta - YUM! You can pick a side...but I'm telling you, get the house potatoes! The only other Swami's I have been to has been the one at North Park. In comparison to NP's decadent and hip two floor building with a heavy beer list, this location is a deceptively laid back beach-side shack with pleasant outdoor and even nicer indoor seating. I'm getting to see that the small chain specializes in bringing the local flair to its locations, tailoring the spots to its consumers with care and attention to detail. Nice! The food at this location is somewhat mediocre to above average in my opinion, with the exception of anything that has acai in it (bowls and pancakes to start). This spot being the first (?) really specializes in the atmosphere and decor while taking advantage of the beach-side local. Having outdoor seating, its also dog friendly for the most part. What has always won me over personally at all of Swami's spots is the variety of coffee's they have and the one mug you can come back with over and over. There's nothing like sipping some bean water while soaking in the beachy vibes. How much more SD can you get? read more

Swamis is absolutely awesome and boasts delicious food along with a nice upbeat environment. I used to frequent this place quite often as they have one of the best acai bowls in the business. Lately, I have been ordering regular breakfast items and haven't had any complaints either. The ABC quesadilla is pretty legit and the homemade iced is solid. This place can get extremely crowded especially on a weekend so my recommendation would be to go early and/or keep an eye out for any available seats while waiting in line. Remember, this place requires you to wait in line to place your order rather then have servers come out to the table.... This may be a new concept to someone who hasn't been here before. Met up with a friend here @ Swami's and took us awhile to realize that there is parking right behind it, the entry way to the back lot is easy to miss if you're going fast. Swami's is also sort of a shack which also makes it easy to pass Walking in, I feel like there was a lot going on. Writing all over the walls, a server on roller skates, and confused by the menu process. We saw a board that had "specials" on it so we ordered from there. The Country Wrap was delicious!!! Highly recommended. It has cheese, avocado, chicken, potatoes... all that good stuff. Flavors blended so well. It also comes with chips n salsa which is my crack so I loved it. Fresh juices are good too We didn't notice til after we ordered that there was a table of paper menus with a FULL menu of so many items... we're definitely coming back to try everything. The restaurant is basically all outside. There were a lot of people so it was hard to find a seat that was in the shade and didn't have bird poop on the seats but we got lucky and found a spot on the bar stools under the umbrellas. So so sad, new menu and they changed the Fish Tacos! I would have paid more for those tacos. They were my absolute favorite you could taste the butter it was saute in. Now the fish is tasteless with a smaller equally tasteless tortilla, minimal cabbage and the sauce is just mayonaise. Used to go there twice a week now we will have to move on. Ok, never been to Swami's, even though there is one close to where I live in North Park. It was a nice sunny weekend and my BF and I were venturing up the coast and decided to stop here for some brunch. Great location, lots of outdoor seating, very chill, beachy vibe. Been reading about their Acai Bowls on Yelp so that's what I had and BF had the Chilaquiles. The staff is very young, mostly college students and seemed very unorganized. Our food took a long time to come out and there were even people that came before us, that were still waiting for theirs. I was sitting for at least 15 minutes with my Acai bowl before my BF got his food. And another 5 minutes after that, for his coffee to be made. Anyways, the Acai bowl was very good and a full order will be enough for two to share. I thought the chilaquiles was decent but BF said it was just OK to him. Terrible lunch experience. Order came out as incomplete, literally had to chase down one of the MANY incompetent teenagers that seemed to be running the place to get the missing parts. Food was just ok, tho cold by the time we all had got our orders. Never offered condiments, never asked if all was ok, they're lucky you're forced to tip before the food and service is experience!! Table next do us had food seemingly thrown onto the table, and one across the patio had a plate actually dumped over their dog! Maybe time to employ some actual grown ups who GAF?! Prices have always been high, and above the flavor/quality of the meal. My current observations, and in part why I only rate as 2 stars- Swami's is offering outside seating on the patio, however we observed tables closely packed together (certainly not 6 ft from table to other table as you can see from my picture- maybe 2' max away from the person/stranger next to you, not to mention only about 2' away from a chair meant for people waiting) and apparently no recommendations on guests wearing masks (saw 2 masks on patio). I've gone to nearly every Swami's location in San Diego and have loved them for years -- I always leave raving comments about the food and typically love the friendly and hardworking staff, specifically in Carlsbad and North Park areas. They are by far my favorite breakfast spot, and I'm always looking forward to sharing with friends and family who visit. But today was easily the worst experience, and food I've ever had from them. The staff was rude, unfriendly, and more interested in checking their phones than helping their guests. Each time we walked back to the desk to ask for refills or a side of something, it seemed as if we were bothering them, or interrupting their IG story post. The employees constantly lowered their masks to talk to people, and most weren't even wearing masks. Our counter was dirty, and we actually ended up cleaning it ourselves with our own wipes that we brought. I usually get breakfast specials, but thought I'd give the Açaí Bowl a try. It was essentially a puddle of melted syrup with some berries and fruit tossed in. The granola was stale, and overall, just one giant bowl of sadness. Go to Gelato 101 (originally Moonlight Cafe) for an actual açaí bowl -- they know what's up. My girlfriend ordered the veggie sandwich with a side of fruit, and a side salad -- she never got the side salad. The fruit was brown and must've been days old. The sandwich was nothing like we typically see them make. It was basically biting into a giant onion with a single piece of cheese. The toppings were weak and just a let down from what we've usually seen in the past. My girlfriends mom ordered the club sandwich... it reminded me of those sandwiches that you buy at 7-11 that taste like refrigerated plastic. Do not order the club sandwich from here. Man... this lunch was such a bummer. I love Swami's, and have only ever had great things to say about it. I don't know if it's because of all this cstuff going on, or because their B-Team (more like Fail Team) was working -- but I don't think I'll ever return to the Encinitas Swamis again. Go to the one in Carlsbad or North Park. Whoever manages and runs those locations understands quality and taking care of their customers. My boyfriend and I came for lunch and I got a BLTA and my boyfriend ordered the John's wrap I asked for mine with chips and salsa and he wanted potatoes for the side but they got his order wrong and we both ended up getting chips and salsa. No big deal. When the waitress delivered our food, half of my chips spilled onto the table and she did not even apologize or say anything she stared at us for a second and walked away. Didn't offer to replace them. It wasn't even busy! He said the wrap wasn't anything special and my food was just okay as well. I'm surprised at the negative reviews on this! I have been coming to Swami's consistently for the last 5 or 6 years and have always been happy with my experience. Granted, I pretty much stick to the Acai Bowl and French toast, I have had a few other things here. Their Acai bowl is overflowing with banana, strawberry, raspberry, and blackberry, blueberry and bee pollen. There is granola in the acai that also has raisins in it which gives it a nice chewy/crunch while you enjoy your Acai. The French toast is also amazing and comes with 4 big slices. I have also had a few omelettes here and they are huge and very tasty. I always recommend this place to people visiting San Diego and you can head right to the beach or the Mediation Gardens after! read more

Let's keep in mind most of us will be fine, it's the transfer to our older gen is when we should be concerned with as they will have the hard time recovering. My fav, he has a sign out front that says "Resist Newsom" no doubt referring to the Governor's mandate of all food to go. An employee (the manager? - white guy with odd facial hair) was spouting extreme right wing political nonsense. A customer nearby politely asked him to tone down the political talk. The guy continued with the right wing idiocy non-stop. He was clearly trying to provoke the customers. The other customer and I returned to the cashier to let her know that we were cancelling our orders. The employee followed us to the cashier and continued to try to provoke a confrontation. I asked for a menu item that I know be offered at a different location. the server didn't know and did not take the effort to inquire from someone else about this. My order came out completely wrong and with hair on the meal to top it off. I barely received any acknowledgement of the massive error. This is an Encinitas institution. I have heard that they have 11 locations opened now in the San Diego area. How can they all be as good as this one? The 101 has the breeze and smell of the ocean from SWAMI's beach across the street. The Self-Realization Center is right there, emitting peace and restful vibes. Just a short update on my previous Swami's review. I recently stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and the line was out the door. Unlike some people who may be deterred by a long line, I take it as a sign that I'm in the right place. If everyone else wants to eat there too, they must be doing something right! I'm a huge fan of acai bowls and I was excited to see one on the menu. While this wasn't my all-time favorite bowl, it was very good and a very large portion. The bottom of the bowl is layered with granola and then the acai blend is poured on top. The bowl is garnished with sliced strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, banana, coconut and bee pollen (which I'm still not sure what the purpose of bee pollen is). I loved all the fresh fruit and my only slight complaint is that the granola seemed to have raisins or something similar mixed in and finding chewy bits in my bowl was kind of strange. My guy was pretty impressed with his Huevos Rancheros, which arrived at the table at least five minutes before my acai bowl. Not sure how the timing was so off but it was a little annoying. But the food is great and the atmosphere is so perfectly Southern Californian so four stars it is! read more

I unfortunately have eaten here several times because when my parents are visiting from Hawaii, they like to eat here. I do not like eating on their patio because there are too many flies. My parents like to get the pancakes. The pancakes are good, but I have had better elsewhere (in Hawaii haha). If I smother the pancakes in tons of butter, I really enjoy the pancakes. Once in awhile, Swami's will have special types of pancakes available, such as pumpkin spice pancakes. I like to get the chilaquiles when I join my parents. However, I do not like the price because I think the chilaquiles here is as good as in a hole in the wall Mexican place. But Swami's charges a steeper price of course. I think my parents mainly like to eat here because of the closeness to the beach. read more
