Holy cow, this course is a ripoff. It is absolutely insane that they charge what other nearby 9 hole courses charge. This course is in contention for the most poorly-maintained course in New England. The sand traps are covered in weeds (not contain weeds, I mean covered in weeds, see pictures). And every single green is not playable. Giant divots everywhere and large patches of grass missing (see pictures). They also have the grounds maintenance crew weed whacking around the bunkers during peak hours. They will run the equipment during your shot usually, sometimes they will idle the equipment and watch you take your shot then go back to weed whacking. It's pretty uncomfortable. There is a pinch point in the course between hole 5 and 6, and you could be waiting for several minutes (I've waited well over 10 minutes before) before it clears out enough for you to play. If a course is going to be in poor shape like this one, fine. But don't charge $30 to walk 9 holes when I can go to Chelmsford for the same price and have all the holes well-maintained. Literally the only upside of this course is that you can get a tee time on a moments notice. I highly recommend going elsewhere though and pay the same price for a course where the owners take pride in it and actually maintain it. read more

Excellent value and fun experience in a relaxed environment. This is a very playable family run 9 hole course that offers carts, and has a l really nice bar/restaurant in the clubhouse with the usual offerings as well as microbrews on tap and a few more exotic food choices. Unlike most local 9 hole courses it is fully staffed, not just one guy running around acting as ranger, bartender, check in, starter, etc. There are a few par 4s with very forgiving, wide fairways and a few nice short par 3s where you can try for a hole in one. Well placed bunkers and water features make every hole a fun challenge. In my experience they are accommodating about not forcing groups of 2 to play together if time allows. I have probably played 15 of the 9 hole courses in eastern Mass and this is definitely near the top of the list for overall experience. read more

I would avoid this course if possible. It's. Shorter course for someone just starting out (no par 5's) but the course is in horrible shape and the prices are outrageous for what you get. My experience playing at this course was very poor. To start, the condition of the course is very poor. For the amount of money they charge for 9 holes, I expected the conditions to be better. More than half the greens had large sand patches. Ironically, more than half of the bunkers were covered in grass. To top it all off, the women who works in the pro shop, who I believe is the owner, is absolutely nasty. She is rude, overbearing, and extremely impolite. Please take into consideration, that I am in no way a golf pro. I enjoy the sport for the joy of being outside and the company of other players. I do not need to play pristine courses. With that said, I will not be playing here again. There are far better courses for equal or less money. Please do not waste your time and money here. read more

Based on how much this course has improved from last year to this, I'd give it 6-stars if I could. Golfed here Sunday 6.23.24 and was amazed at the improvement and effort that has gone into the course. We golfed here last year a couple times and it was a bit disappointing - particularly the greens. I believe the venue was purchased a couple years ago by a family with limited (maybe no) knowledge of running a golf course, and the course was ALREADY in rough shape - the greens in particular - so last year was difficult. HOWEVER, they have clearly learned a great deal very quickly and have made vast improvements everywhere in a remarkably short period of time. I would encourage anyone put off by it last year, to give it another shot. Today, the greens are light years better, so too were the fairways...the bunkers could use some work, but I assume it came down to priorities... The staff - mostly family members - were all professional, friendly and very nice. The clubhouse is fantastic - huge bar with plenty of room. I didn't eat, but the food - a huge variety of American/pub - by all accounts is very good. As for the layout - its a fair tract - not too difficult, not too easy (I'm about a 12 handicap). I am looking forward to playing here again, I very much looking forward to seeing this course develop and grow as the improvements continue in the coming years. read more

Receive a call from the course saying they would not be honoring the price and that I would have to pay a HIGHER price than what I had already paid. The woman on the phone was unapologetic and rude. I went here this weekend for a wedding which was very nice and well managed. The food was excellent, the music was good. Hospitality excellent but the MC/DJ should wear underwear. He had stretch pants on with apparently nothing underneath. Otherwise good venue. Michele read more

The only reason to come here is if you're teaching your kid how to play (very SHORT course); even then, Swanson is just OK. The entire course is in tough shape. Tee boxes, fairways, rough/dirt, greens. If you're just trying to get 9 in - go to Chelmsford or Billerica CC instead. Better conditions for the same price or less. They also don't take tee times/payment online, even now during COVID, so thats icing on the cake for Swanson. read more

Horribly mismanaged. They overbook the course, and then allow singles to go out even when its really busy, which causes massive traffic jams. Took us well over 3 hours to finish the short 9 hole course. It is a glorified par 3 course, and the conditions are pretty bad especially given the price they charge. On top of all of this, they are sexist and didnt allow me to go out with my girlfriend. I wanted to bring my girlfriend, who has played many times before and is actually pretty good, but was told I couldn't because she would be a liability. Ridiculously sexist. Stay away. read more

I would not recommend this course! The course is a slow meadow course and the customer service is horrible! I tried paying for my girlfriend to come with me, and the owner would not allow us on the ciurse because ahe has never golfed before. This coming frim a resident of the community -I live in the town homes in the development! When I told the owner I lived here, she said "so, does that make yiu speciAl?" Small nine hole course in Billerica. The course is always in great shape but the greens are so painfully slow that it messes up my feel when putting. They leave the greens long and slow on purpose because I asked. It's decent if you just want to get out and work on your short game or if you're a beginner and don't want too tough of a course to practice on. Putting at this course isn't like any other course so be prepared to hammer everything in order to get it to the hole. read more

It's a small course but designed to be challenging with bunkers used liberally. Narrow fairway and tactical placement of bunkers makes it a challenge in course management and shot accuracy (which I consider to be the good part). Greens were very poorly maintained. They had a lot of debris on them (no we were not there after a storm, weather had been open for a week before). Also greens were not cut close enough, making them very slow. I could have used a hammer as a putter. More than once somebody wondered if their groundkeeper was on a very long vacation. Maintenance and customer service left a lot to be wanted. We had taken an online deal which had seemed like a good one till we put up with the owner on the cash register... we were made to feel as if we were stealing from her by buying the deal. They have a grill restaurant which had excellent food. read more

Lots of haters out there! This is a nice little course... for a little public executive course its in great shape, the customer service is stellar, and the bar/grille has some great grub. My Dad and I played here almost every weekend last summer because the location was convenient and our schedules usually only permit a quick 9.. give the place a chance! read more

The woman working in the pro shop was extraordinarily rude and unprofessional. I had a tee-time for 3, my mother-in-law wanted to come along and does not golf. I tried to explain this and offered to pay the cart fee for her and I received an immediate refusal. Not only the refusal, she challenged me to "go somewhere else and try to do that" (top notch customer service). I explained we had driven quite a way to get there and asked if there was anything we could accommodate for that and she stated "first it's a guest, next someone wants to bring their dog" (again... great customer service comparing someone's mother-in-law to a dog). I then offered to pay for her to play as a golfer and she said "no, she doesn't have a bag, the starter won't let you go out" so I asked "do you rent bags" and she said "yes but you can't rent one, she's not golfing, it's not about the money" (???). So I said "so she can't ride as a guest if I pay for her, she can't ride as a golfer, and now you're telling she isn't allowed to golf?" "yes, you're welcome to go someplace else." I go out to talk to the group and my father-in-law decides he'll give it a try and goes into the pro shop. He comes out less than a minute later, gives a thumbs up, and says "yea she has no problem with it we're all set, just pay for her as a golfer." Now, reminder, that I already offered to do that and even offered to rent clubs and was denied... regardless, we're here, we drove to get here, it's the tee time now, so I go back in and pay... she say's nothing to me other than to keep on the cart paths (makes sense, rained the past few days). So, I load up our carts and just discount it all to my age, I mean she seemed like an older lady perhaps she looked at the 30-year-old and thought I was a troublemaker? (we were all dressed very appropriately so I don't know what would have given her that idea). Anyway, I figure maybe she doesn't want youngsters messing around on the course... I get it... until I got a few holes in and heard a threesome on the next hole over, all 20-something guys IN TEE SHIRTS and shorts, drinking, blasting rock music aloud and swearing... So when we were done I went back in and reported that and she said "Oh I didn't notice that, next time tell a ranger." (The ranger was driving around the whole time, there is no possible way he didn't see that) and let me get this straight, my mother-in-law, in golf appropriate attire, wouldn't be allowed past the starter but this group was allowed??? So I end up spending $160 for 9 holes on the very short course, with greens that were mediocre at best and bunkers less maintained than a child's sand box. Since the course was so short, I shot a stellar score, but I will not be back! read more

This is a short 9 hole Par 3 course. Not bad for a beginner. Its a waste of money to rent the cart so you might as well walk. Carts are only allowed on the pathway so we end up walking more than half of the time. A little expensive for a short nine hole. read more

My wife and I played this course today and a felt compelled to write a review. To call this a golf course is a true misnomer. A poorly maintained cow pasture would be closer to the truth. The course layout isn't all that bad but the conditions are terrible. One would think no one is maintaining the course. Also, the greens fee was the same as much nicer local golf courses. Rudest place I have ever been. I played there and left a sand wedge on a fairway. I went back to get it 2 days later and was told by a woman in the pro shop that it was in the attic and they don't return them until the end of the year. I said that I was there now and would like my club but was pretty much told "too bad." I will never play there again and urge everyone else not too as well. read more

A small, short, 9-hole course, this place is good for beginners. Everything was in good shape, but the greens were incredibly slow and the rough was way too long. We went with a group of 12 -- mixed between those who had just taken up golf this summer to some who had been playing for 20 years -- and it was perfect for us. The place was busy, considering the weather was lousy. The prices are reasonable -- $31 for 9 holes with a cart. The deck off the restaurant looked really nice -- perfect for a few beers after a round. The woman who works the shop and I think owns and/or manages the property was rude. She was snapping at 2 of us for checking out the restaurant/function area when it wasn't open, mentioning that there was alcohol behind the bar so we shouldn't be in the space. All fine except that it was 8:45 AM on a Saturday morning, we were looking for the bathroom, we were 30+ feet away from the bar, and if she didn't want people walking down that hallway then she should put a sign up that says so and not have a sign that says "join us for breakfast!". Customer service clearly wasn't her thing. read more

This is a nice 9 hole course. They have a new greenskeeper and, wow, has he done a terrific job!. The greens are 100% better than they ever have been before. The course is in tremendous shape over the last 2 years. The food has always been very good, and the beers are always nice & cold. Nice deck off the back of the clubhouse. Great in the summer time! My wife, a first time golfer, really liked it. We were not rushed and felt right at home on the course. A very walkable course with some nice easy holes and a few longer, more difficult par 5's. Overall a good value. I have not had any problems with the staff or the owner. She has always treated us well, don't know why so many complaints. Play here a couple of times a week. read more

For a nice 18 hole par 3 course where everyone is friendly and the course is in great shape check out Middleton Golf Course on Rte 114 in Middleton MA. There is also a nice deck overlooking the 18th green! And fun league play - just started playing ladies and mixed league last year and it is a lot of fun. I have golfed here hundreds of times and It's really not too shabby. Prices aren't bad, but they don't post the hours they are open for public golfing very well. You must call or you are likely to be turned down due to league play or something else. Otherwise it's a descent course for a less expensive golfing day. read more
